Quite underrated too. Whenever I hear people talk about RD, I always hear Tim Roth, Michael Madsen or Harvey Keitel and, although those three are incredible, Steve Buscemi deserves more attention for his work in RD.
The comments criticizing Quentin's acting are missing what these guys are doing. It's just Quentin hashing out the scene with Buscemi seeing what works what can be cut out. It's building the scene in an organic way. Quentin knows Harvey Keitel is Mr. White. Quentin doesn't have to be Marlon Brando he just has to have Buscemi get the rhythm of the dialogue.
It's also getting the blocking and the shots worked out. The long shot in the room which will be a warehouse on location. Then, most of the second part of the scene uses the bathroom mirror to include both characters in the shot intstead of using a two-shot. And this is a guy making his first feature. Had he ever directed actors before? This is a REMARKABLE document!
10:06 That line "I swear to God, I'm fucking jinxed", in the film, Harvey says it under his breath, very calm and collected. Here, Quentin screams it at the top of his lungs, adding several expletives, slamming doors and storming out the room as he does it XD
+franco mayer Tarantino unfortunately has only one setting as an actor, which is pissed off. He also comes off as a bit of an asshole in all his roles.
Tarantino can’t act for shit, I mena I love Tarantino to death, I have seen all of his films at least 4 times, but man is he a terrible actor. He knows how to setup shots, direct actors, write screenplays, but man he can’t act.
Tarantino is unintentionally hilarious as an actor. Genius writer and director but terrible actor. He does the same thing in his scene in Pulp Fiction where he totally overacts and screams his line at Jules 😂
Do you know who the actor is playing Lawrence Tierney's part (Joe Cabot)? The character was tweaked and became the older man played by Tierney, but this guy is pretty, damn good.
7:55 Pink says that he came close to taking out Blonde himself. In the actual movie, White said that line. Not Pink. And later in the movie, White reminds Pink what he said earlier. Even though he never said it in the movie.
If this wasn't about the aftermath of the heist and it was Quentin and Steve arguing about something I would want this to be a flashback for Mr Pink revealing he has a past with Mr Brown
Tbh I like this version of Mr. White more. in this version he acts more like a tough criminal, who kinda feels sad for Mr Orange, while in the final version he acts like his dad. This version is more realistic and interesting imo
I love Tarantino and he isn’t a bad actor but I think there’s kind of a awkwardness with him even though he’s confident I feel he may be somewhat autistic.
He was just running through lines, but god his acting is bad. Even so, the writing here is great and it led to one of the best crime movies ever to be made, so, let’s be grateful.
The question that keeps plaguing me is when did White and Orange's friendship become what we see in the film now? Because in the above version of the script, he's comforting him, but maybe it's more obligatory than what made it to the final cut? Because he's also screaming at him.
We do not see all that goes down with them. We know they see one another (I think they may be meeting for the first time) at the bar with Joe and Eddy. They also camp out at the store and go over the plan of attack. We see they have some connection, but a lot of it is off screen, but it is clear they have gotten to know one another. That is the beauty of films; often it leaves things to the audience's own imaginations.
I seen this movie when it was in theatres and yet this is the first i knew about this footage in octoaber 2023. I guess i gotta get out more, or something.
Daniel Powell i think its cause this was his first debut as an actor and also a director so was a little more excited to be acting compared to the other actors here who had been in films for a while. he was wanting to make his mark as it was his first time on the big screen i admittedly prefer his directing skills to his acting skills . but cmon if you had the chance to appear in a movie that you were directing would you not take the chance?
Genius writer and director, unintentionally hilarious actor. His delivery is all wrong. He’s too quiet for some lines and then he screams at the top of his lungs randomly for others. And his cussing is not intimidating at all he sounds ridiculous, like a teenager fighting with his parents. Look at the difference between him and Buscemi. Buscemi is not even giving it much effort but his delivery is perfect.
I've never wanted to be an actor and believe I could actually be good at it more than now. I'll be 39 next month & I've never tried acting cause my passion is drumming/percussion but I kinda think I'd be good at it. ( said 1,000,000,000 other people) Oh well. I might as well try! See Ya!
At the start of the video, its the scene from inside Joes office. Busciemi is doing Keitels Mr White part and the other actor is doing Lawrence Tierneys. Next, QT is playing Mr Pink and Busciemi is still playing Mr White. Then they switch, with Busciemi doing Mr Pink and QT doing Mr White, though some of the lines seem to get switched and some dropped.
I wonder if he would have been White, in the final film, if Harvey Keitel had not committed to the project? Or perhaps he had but he wanted to give Buscemi someone to act with in the rehearsal and Keitel was not available on that day.
Christ, Tarantino couldn't pretend to be dead. The audience wold know he was alive. That's how bad he is as an actor. His directing? 'Who can I imitate today..?'
Tarantino is a horrible actor. The only thing this hack can do is ripping of other people's work. One of the least original, most overrated and quickly forgettable director in the history of cinema
Tarantino is a king. If you can watch the basement cafe scene in Basterds and not objectively admit it's a classic, well, I just don't know what. He's the best. But, yeah, he's no DiCaprio in front of the camera. He's good at weasely characters, like Brown, and Jimmy in Pulp Fiction.
Bwhahaha look at this inbred moron who got his fragile feelings hurt. If you're too stupid to give a normal responds then I suggest you run back to Mommy's basement kiddo
@Джон Снейк well of course not. lets say he got inspired. He took the things he like put them together (like scenes) add his vision in it and wrote good dialogue with good characters and knew who to cast. And he took everything he liked and made them better in every way. He took scenes from old hollywood films and made them more meaningful. Took the angle and made it work better than it did before. He kinda renewed what Hollywood already had. This is not ripping off guy who wrote the comment is clearly a hipster. Everything is already a reproduction you should take something and add something else into the mixture its how everything moves forward.
Hell of an actor Steve Buscemi!!!
Quite underrated too. Whenever I hear people talk about RD, I always hear Tim Roth, Michael Madsen or Harvey Keitel and, although those three are incredible, Steve Buscemi deserves more attention for his work in RD.
Yes sir. I love Steve
Indeed

It's building the scene in an organic way. Quentin knows Harvey Keitel is Mr. White. Quentin doesn't have to be Marlon Brando he just has to have Buscemi get the rhythm of the dialogue.
True. But! Tarantino originally was going to play Mr. Pink until Buscemi took the role from him in a challenge by tarantino.
we know quentin is decent as an actor but he is not ''the actor'' he's being himself here and every movie he's being into.
It's also getting the blocking and the shots worked out. The long shot in the room which will be a warehouse on location. Then, most of the second part of the scene uses the bathroom mirror to include both characters in the shot intstead of using a two-shot.

He always acts really altered, see Jim in Pulp xD

That POV thing he does with the camera is like something I would have done in high school
Tarantino is unintentionally hilarious as an actor. Genius writer and director but terrible actor. He does the same thing in his scene in Pulp Fiction where he totally overacts and screams his line at Jules 😂
this is soo cool. i love seeing the process of film making
its actually a film. shitty name for this video its not rehearsal
Ultimate History of CGI whatever, that’s focusing on the stuff thats not important
no you dont
A good thing Keitel got the part!
No Keitel. No movie.
i’m so obsessed with this movie ong
Awesome taste in movies
I love seeing the rehearsal process and how the scenes are improvised
Fascinating. Much of this wasn't in the film, but damn well could've been. The dialog is rough, but still gripping.
I just can't imagine the Joe Cabot we saw in the movie reading Sylvia Plath.
Do you know who the actor is playing Lawrence Tierney's part (Joe Cabot)? The character was tweaked and became the older man played by Tierney, but this guy is pretty, damn good.
@@rickrose5377 sorry, I have no idea
lmao all that stuff about being in love etc that would totally have ruined his character
7:55 Pink says that he came close to taking out Blonde himself. In the actual movie, White said that line. Not Pink. And later in the movie, White reminds Pink what he said earlier. Even though he never said it in the movie.
Awesome little mistake you pointed out :) I always thought that line was a bit weird
I almost thought he used it as a chance to get pink to say it to mr blonde and back him up more
omg I've seen it like 30 times and never noticed that, you're right
QT changed the characters, originally Mr.White is the tip guy while Mr.Pink does his speech on Madonna.
Great working out a scene to show how Stevie shines.
Buscemi should return acting under quentin
I don't think people get that this is just a screen testing...
If this wasn't about the aftermath of the heist and it was Quentin and Steve arguing about something I would want this to be a flashback for Mr Pink revealing he has a past with Mr Brown
The star of the show is Quentin's pair of puffy white high tops
lmao it’s interesting to see the contrast in quentin’s performance and harvey keitels xD
Tbh I like this version of Mr. White more. in this version he acts more like a tough criminal, who kinda feels sad for Mr Orange, while in the final version he acts like his dad. This version is more realistic and interesting imo
That's amazing how well they know the dialogue and become the characters. Thanks for sharing!
it’s almost as if this is their job.
@@chunkymilk Oh ya, I forgot every actor is amazing.

He almost certainly is on le funny spectrum

His delivery is hilarious 😂
This is why RUclips exists. Who would see this otherwise. So awesome
This is like the rehearsal of a stage play 😂
The hateful 8 is my favorite tarantino
He was just running through lines, but god his acting is bad. Even so, the writing here is great and it led to one of the best crime movies ever to be made, so, let’s be grateful.
Like the first draft of a great movie.
This is pure gold!
RUclips comments, lol. The fact that people comment on Quentins acting, given the context of it all is kinda ridiculous. Have nice day all .
Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs are My Favorite Tarantino Movies.
The question that keeps plaguing me is when did White and Orange's friendship become what we see in the film now? Because in the above version of the script, he's comforting him, but maybe it's more obligatory than what made it to the final cut? Because he's also screaming at him.
Same here. And as much as I like the final version, I think this original one works better. I wonder if Harvey had it changed.
maybe they were lovers
they loved each other

Father/Son.
They were both up for it.
This is BEAUTIFUL.
Mr white looks a bit different in this rehearsal... he change his hair or something?
Pink is a true professional and would never misplace his weapon. That's why that was cut out!
All these comments on Tarantino's acting but nothing on Steve?
I think Quentin should have played nice guy Eddie!!!! he would have been perfect for that character!!!
Does anyone know who the actor is playing Joe, the part that ultimately went to Lawrence Tierney? He's pretty damn good.
I seen this movie when it was in theatres and yet this is the first i knew about this footage in octoaber 2023. I guess i gotta get out more, or something.
Like it or not we are all set up....it's called life.
After watching this, part of me wishes Steve Buscemi was Larry (Mr. White)
nooo…he perfect as pink
7:03 just ceps
Its funny how he tries to hold the laugh after that, but laughs at his next line
I feel like Tarantino is way too aggressive here. I mean I feel like he is going way too fast with the lines and almost like forcing them out.
Daniel Powell i think its cause this was his first debut as an actor and also a director so was a little more excited to be acting compared to the other actors here who had been in films for a while. he was wanting to make his mark as it was his first time on the big screen

He's always been a bad actor, but that's why he cast good people in the main roles.
He’s not a good actor but a brilliant writer/director. Also he’s acting in rehearsal next to a heavyweight veteran in Buscemi.
this was just a screen test tho
Genius writer and director, unintentionally hilarious actor. His delivery is all wrong. He’s too quiet for some lines and then he screams at the top of his lungs randomly for others. Anyone know if there’s anymore audition tapes from Tarantino’s films?
Tarantino is a surprisingly good actor, but he can't say mfer. With all the swearing in his movies and he can't say mfer properly lol.
I can never take him seriously when he cusses. He just sounds like a nerdy guy that discovered cuss words two days ago and now wants to act cool lol
i don't remember this dialog in the movie.
It's after pink shows up to the wearhouse

Good lord. Tarantino wrote that first scene? In terms of everything else he’s done, it’s embarassing.
Blind Terry Tucci ah, the acting was the real buffer
What?
It's not that bad jeez. Better than the majority of directing.
this was not supposed to be acting for camera. More of "what works? What doesn't?" for dialogue etc
