I wish companies would collaborate more and give credit where credit is due. The partnership between Missile and Roboworm was seemingly a major success…just as the Missile and Hog Farmer collaboration. Missile and DEPS could have worked together on creating a slimmer version of the Cover Scat and both companies could have made money.

I see there are two ways to fish the pop baits, i always fished like the japanese fishermen who cast it to rocks were usually a jig hang up and work it similar to a jerkbait in the bottom making a pause to maintain the bottom contact, i had really good success doing it with the deps coverscat chatching really big fish. But the other courrent is the american style to pitch it and flip it around cover.
Id like to see a underwater video of the bomba of these two ways to fish it.

I’m glad you put your take on the categoy. I agree the DEPS and Fish Arrow doesn’t skip as well as you think they should. However based on the videos I’ve seen from Japan they seem to be fishing off-shore structure with them and that’s where I have the most success with them as well. Thanks for also doing the 3.5” spunk shad, waiting for both to hit the website to order both.
I would also like to see some underwater shots of each when you get time and maybe a video of how you are working the bait.

Top choice now is the Gami 5/0 offset shank round bend worm hook. EWG works well too. Testing others too.
The original poop bait in my opinion is the Yamamoto fat ika. Been catching fish on it for years and years. No it doesn't look like a turd but I've called it the turd with dreads for over 10 years lol I love the heavy weightless plastics

I’m just hoping the sale of D & J plastics doesn’t affect Missile baits, Southern plastics already is strike king bass pro. Guess you could always pour your own like zoom! John your ideas on plastic lure design is what we pay for in purchasing Missile lures, love your baits!

I have Bomba’s Yamatanuki’s and Cover scat and hands down the Bomba’s are the most durable than any of the others, now don’t think that it’s stiffer just because it’s more durable because it has great action and durability but all of them are good baits it’s just the Bomba’s are more durable also the most affordable!

There's no doubt missile baits doesn't just copy what's out there. I think that's what you're probably alluding to in this video maybe some of the backlash other companies have been getting. You've done a lot of innovating in your career. Unlike a lot of other brands that should be ashamed of themselves just blatantly ripping off people's innovative ideas. I definitely don't put you guys in that category. Keep up the good work.

What is your take on the spro version? I know you work very closely with them and their version looks like almost identical to the cover scat.

The similarities and differences between the Cover Scat and Bomba remind me of the Senko and Yum Dinger.

First poop bait I tried was the Fish Arrow and I had some luck with it, hook up was good, very durable, very heavy. I fished it slow..So now Im taking the dive in poop baits! I got a few of each, I think they'll all fill a situation. I got some Bombas for the reason you made them apparently. What I think is awesome is seeing them in my store and having an option from this category available at a good price point I didnt have to order.
What would be awesome is if a good back gliding bait was a option in the US market like the BullSlide or the DoLive stick, this style is off the radar here! Im in Texas fishin pressured ponds and Lakes and showing them something different or something matching the profile their eatin at the moment seems to be key this yr.

yeah yeah yeah… Everybody (Bait Snobs) is out there bitching that everybody is out there copying, now how does that sound??… I don’t give a crap who is making the bait I want to fish… I want it to be available when I go to purchase or order it and I also want it to be at a good price. I don’t buy certain baits because they are for people who don’t have kids in hockey playing all over the country, they probably dont have a lawn guy, and a pool guy. Plus, I like deals! I’m American! I like ALL bait companies! show me a quality bait, at a good price and its mine!

Awesome!! Really looking forward to adding them to my arsenal. What is your setup for the spinning aspect. More specific, what size line are you using? And straight fluorocarbon or braid to fluorocarbon? And what size hook works best!
I’m still trying different setups with spinning equipment but you can use ewg or round bend worm hook for terminal end. Will do a video once it is fully dialed in
I have tried the Yamatanuky (spelling) but have not tried the cover scat, even though I have it. That third bait that I can't spell immediately caught fish, but they tear way too easily. I turned it around and fished from the smaller side and caught fish. I also had the tail ball torn off as the fish hit the tail.
Finally got some of the bomba's in today, looking forward to trying them, what size hook you recommend for weightless ?

What hook are you using in the bomba with a spiining outfit? 3/0? Ewg or unweighted swimbait style hook with a spring in the nose?
4/0 seems about right in testing and both weighted and non will work
Yamatanuki doesn’t have the fall, not fair to call it as the same category, more of a really fat worm like the fat ika without the skirt so more of a finesse fat ika. Feels like the term “category” is thrown around to make it seems as though a specific bait wasn’t copied, it’s a whole category”. That fish arrow copied it doesn’t make it right, yamatanuki is not really in this category just because it’s heavy. Your points about the weight are the best/ most valid defense against the criticism imo. Love your vids, just think it’s important to be clear and honest. Hoping neither you nor Ike come out with an osp dice next year and win innovation of the year lol. Looking forward to your new design, definitely much better to slow down and make things right. Some feedback on cover scat, the size hook used is worth everyone being aware of imo, maybe some underwater footage on different actions caused by different sizes (larger sizes limiting action for more finesse presentations) and sink rates. I assume it matters but maybe with underwater footage it can be quantified. Good luck

I've fished the yamatanuki a few times and caught several fish off of them. I really like them. I'm excited to try the bomba, but wish it was just a little bit heavier. maybe at least 1/2oz.

On a serious note, please look at the 13” Deps Kincoo Air Worm. Ive been fishing it this summer on a Neko rig and have caught some bigs. Be great if you could produce something similar that does not break the bank.

Kudos for not hiding like others {JW and Rapala, Z-Man and SPRO}. But very weak argument, the Deps and Yamamoto baits are not similar, same length and rubber. If you want a lighter skat you could of downsized in the Deps product line. I’m very disappointed with all these companies for copying others RD / products. Work jointly, price and availability are not reasons to copy. We complain about China doing this in technology but this is no different. I will continue to support the originals. But you are in luck, most won’t realize these are knockoffs. You worked with others like Hog Farmer and Roboworm, why get greedy now?
