I live in a very tight knit council estate everyone knows each other we have a community centre, when my dad sadly passed last year during his funeral everyone banned together to line the streets as people knew him, so I can really feel the spirit here and I hope everyone that died that awful night rests in peace ❤️

The BBC needs a comprehensive, structural analysis of the Grenfell fire. Rather than individualizing the plight of these brave, young people, we need a recognition that it was building regulation policy that took the lives of 70+ people. It wasn't simply an accident. It was neoliberalism that took these courageous lives.

I think the subject of Islamophobia, white supremacy and racism is best understood by looking at the geography. Those areas where there are more dark skinned people, there is substantially less racism. Those areas where there are mostly whites and there is very little ethnic diversity, there is a lot more racism and substantially more misinformation on the Islamic faith; inevitable in a post-colonial and neoimperialist country. There's a reason so many racist whites think Sikhs are Muslims and Pakistanis are Arabs.
The cure for racism is actually knowing other human beings and not having your point of contact with dark skinned people through the Daily Mail, Sun or Fox News.
This ignorance mixed with classism is best summed up when looking at the politics of RBKC.
Ignore the trolls here guys. They're thirsty for a fight.

I grew up in a 'estate' everyone has a community spirit. Everyone knew everyone else. Now society is fractured. Your next door could be dead but they would never know.

S Hussein I didn't grow up in an estate so I saw it from the other end and totally agree with you. The community around Grenfell is the best I have ever seen and a real example of how to live

Europe constantly talks about how America fails and is dumb, but this was utterly avoidable and disgusting. It’s revolting really that people just burned to death for money but you guys spend millions on royal wedding security alone.

11.12 For god sake don't make those kids move back to the school next to Grenfell whilst it's being taken down ; aside from re traumatising them isn't it risky ?

This is so wrong, this is so sad for the victims, the people who
survived, the firemen trying their best. But did anyone ever succeeded
in talking to the people who allowed this to happen, to have this
building built the cheapest way possible because they wanted to make the
ultimate profit. They are always so invisible, but calling the shots.
And thus should be ashamed of themselves, because ulitmately it is them
    who allow this to happen?????

All homes in developed countries should have fire alarms and sprinklers and more than one fire escape route when there is top floors. There’s literally no excuse for why this happened and couldn’t have been prevented. But because they were mainly working class immigrants they were allowed to live in unsafe conditions? They came here for better life that could have been easily provided without financial hassle in such a rich country but died due to greed and carelessness. So fucked up!

    • @jonstern7511
      @jonstern7511 6 лет назад +2

Amber It is, and they should have sprinklers. But the thing that caused the deaths was that the safety was compromised by the botched refurbishment that made it a tinder box

Its terrible for the people involved but I think the coverage has become maudlin and entirely over done mostly becuase it fits all those diversity and multicultural boxes the BBC likes to tick. 1500 white girls, children really, were trafficked and raped by asian gangs in Rotherham, more in Telford, Manchester and London and the BBC didn't give a shit. Why can't May visit them? Why can't there be a Rotherham silent march? Why aren't select committees grilling the Rotherham police and social services? Its because community relations and the ideology of diversity are more important to liberals that the sanctity of a child's body.

You should probably deal with the pedophiles and rapists among the far right and in Tommy's former EDL before you point fingers at random criminals amongst the Asian community.
