@@TechTualChatter Honestly I'm trying to understand with all of this effort to get into CS how about folks put the focus on starting a small business and go from there. Who says that a job can make you rich anyway? You work to gain skills and experience, and then you establish your own services based on the skills that you have acquired.
@TechTualChatter yes I did. As a cybersecurity enthusiast myself, my goal was never about financial gains. It may be a small part but definitely not the main part. However, i understand what you mean.
1. First off because of inflation 100k is really 50k. 2. Know the difference between certification and certificate 3. Know the difference between vendor cert and non vendor cert 4. Always work two gigs

I know this video is on the topic of getting into Cybersecurity making a bag quickly and being sold dreams by influencers, but the same thing is happening in the Project Management sector. Most people see that you hit 3 six figures in project management but fail to see that you have to start from the bottom to get there. You cannot just pivot into a career with no experience and think that you're going to get a big bag. It takes work, dedication, strategic planning and some experience, to get there.

What exactly are some of your daily taskings in CS? This would tell the folks a ton about how your advancing as fast as you are because no one is handing out promotions for the simple work in CS. A $30k increase in salary over 12 months means you are exceptional at performing CS work.
I have a background in tech and enjoyed it. Very surface level but I loved every bit, going to school for it now because I want to help our vulnerable elders keep their digital assets safe and also IT is fun and very interesting. It mimics the human body.
Cyber security is a beautiful art. But it’s something I believe is already in you. To be analytical and non bias or in a perpetual state of unbothered understanding that there is a solution you just haven not found it yet, or have not asked the right question. It’s a process, and you have to be up for the journey.
Wow.... Just like with Gig work there seems to been desenting sides in Cyber or Tech. Look the best thing for folks to do is pick a field, and learn the fundamentals.

I like this video, and when I was starting to see all these crazy salaries, I realized that you need to really have a good head and be grounded and humble. The higher salaries have to be for certain reasons so you can’t just jump right into that it’s gotta be lots of experience and requirements. If I were to be successful and get hired, I would start seeing what I’m earning and then work my lifestyle around that, just get my basics and then anything else is extras. When you’re covering your basics for a while , you’ll see what you have earned and then what you’re able to afford.

What he said actually applies for most career jobs, you either work up to be the boss or you put up to be the boss. Skills pay, but for those that start are beginners so of course you're not on jets and living in 16,000$ sky apartments.
I seriously feel like, if your one of thoese naive people, who think all you need is a theory based Sec plus, and think your going to make 6 figures without any hands on skills. You don't deserve to be considered in this field lol
This is common sense and you have to build your skills and portfolio over years! Maybe you get lucky or maybe you don’t! Either way it’s about the passion for the field!
I honestly want to get into this field because tech has always interest me. I also have 10 years in the military, I’d like to get back into the government sector to complete my 20.
Hello, allurevibe, I'm a USAF Veteran. Honestly, you don't transfer your military years into Federal Government Civil Service employment, or Federal Government Contractor employment. The military and Federal Government are two separate things. You start over as a Civilian but have your prior military work experience to use and explain towards future Civilian employment opportunities.
I just want to keep my brain sharp, build and enhance my skills consistently, have meaningful work by knowing I am keeping networks safe, afford to live in a decent place, afford to eat clean and save. Oh and maybe take a nice international trip once or twice per year. #1 is keeping a sharp mind.
The video from the content creator telling the truth about tech salary can be said about Salesforce. I work for SF and I see this everyday on LinkedIn, Reddit, youtube. You can literally search what salesforce certs pay the highest and find thousands of videos, subreddits, etc. People think they can get a cert and automatically walk into a 6+ figure salary. People sell courses on "how to pass exam and get a six figure SF job" It happens, but the real money comes from marketing yourself, networking, going to SF events like DreamForce, starting your own consultancy, etc.
Yeah these people grew up in the house. No streets smarts what so ever. I’ve just gotten into this field @ 44 after selling dope for most of my life and I’m sure I’ll be doing this till I retire. @@TechTualChatter I was partly being funny towards the end. But as with all fields the concern of over saturation can be real, the longer it exists. For instance; the training school im admitted to has a description that discourages African Americans from choosing that elective. I mean it literally says “African Americans don’t do well when it comes to testing & almost never pass”. I chose it simply because of that..
It annoys me that people are making the cybersecurity field part of rich, quick schemes As a JavaScript Python programmer with networking pen-testing and Soc analyst and Linux skills, I don't understand what's so easy about this field 😏
The exact reason I purchase any Cisco certification books from Amazon and will lock myself down and read the books cover to cover. This was how I passed my Ccna exam in August before the new new exam. You’re going to have to buy the books and read them to pass any of these exams. To help woman’s point in this video I’am a realtor and I promise you , you can not pass the in class test to go take the actual Real Estate exam if you do not read the Real Estate manual. Truth is I have 2 MSc degrees in Cybersecurity. I also have the CISSP, CEH, PMP, PSM2, Sec+, AWS SA, ITIL4, & SSBB certs. The problem is I don't have work experience for the jobs I'm qualified for. Also I'm over qualified for jobs I've applied for. Last week I had a hiring manager reject me because she said she knew they wouldn't be able to keep me because of my credentials.
1. Only put the certifications that's relevant to the job you're pursuing. 2. Research the interview process of the company and the profile of the person doing the interview 3. If you've touched the technology to some degree, you'll just have to learn to speak the languauge. 4. Don't be afraid to leverage contract positions 5.If you're at a job for 6 months, you'll pick up additional skills and keep movng from there. 6. Expect to get downsized multiple times in your IT journey so save your money 7. Keep Learning and learn to play the game Hope some of this helps
I think its crazy people have that expectation tbh... Just looking at job postings will tell you that its not going to be chamgane dinners and silk suits.
Even if it's not paying as much as they say it can't be worst than being an electrician running on those job sites and doing the same wiring over and over ... gotta try??
Well he let his CISSP expire so it shows you his money maker is selling you the promise. Kinda like the Amazon Dropping trend where everyone was trying to sell a course.
I’m in his program and I’ll say this. While I’ve definitely learned a ton and met amazing people, it’s definitely not a “90 days then you get a job” kind of thing. Henry is absolutely correct. You need to be seasoned somewhat to get faster results but if you are not seasoned in this space, it’ll take considerable time to really make the career transition, about 9 months to a year. It’s best to go to free local cyber networking events to understand the unique tech needs in your local town. Google cyber chapters: ISSA “your city”, ISACA “your city”, CSA “your city”, OWASP “ your city, ISC2 “your city” etc. and link up and simply tell people you’re starting to want to learn more about the cyber space ie GRC, IS Auditing etc. Plenty of chapter leaders will point you directly where to find very valuable resources that are much much cheaper and affordable. It’s what turned things around for my learning, personally. Just wish I went down that route first…I would’ve saved thousands and thousands of dollars. Especially in this economy…it’s a much better move than paying for random “false promise” online programs.

You get a good sallary there is no doubt, but that you will life like a higher class citizen is the question it can be possible but that's more if you have a lot of expericence or have a higher position, or certain companies. Only then there is a more realistic chanse to be actually rich with Cybersecurity. But in the first 5 years the chanses are way smaller most of the time. But there is a very good reason why the pay is high it isn't just watching to a monitoring waiting until there is something wrong. You have to make big projects and meetings with different peoples and companies with their intrests etc...

You work to gain skills and experience, and then you establish your own services based on the skills that you have acquired.
Have you not seen have some of this has been advertised?
@TechTualChatter yes I did. As a cybersecurity enthusiast myself, my goal was never about financial gains. It may be a small part but definitely not the main part. However, i understand what you mean.
1. First off because of inflation 100k is really 50k.

Not really
The video from the content creator telling the truth about tech salary can be said about Salesforce. I work for SF and I see this everyday on LinkedIn, Reddit, youtube.
