Loved 'em all, but watching Sierra play such complex and demanding lines and make it look so walk-in-the-park effortless, well, that's seriously something to behold. In awe.
what a cool jam!!!! whooooooooooooooooooo! :) i first met ms. hull in the instrument vendor's tent at merlefest. i worked for rigel mandolins. she was a toddler walking around shutting down jams with her chops lol. she played some crazy solo that left scott vestal looking confused.
Blessings ... my name is Walter, I live in Jalapa, Guatemala, Central America, I congratulate you for a good work with the video and more for that talent in music, I have a mandolin and MY RESPECT for you
They are all fantastic but I am fascinated how someone can play just gliding fingers along the frets while moving positions like that to play single lines, like exclusively and not just for effect. It produces a really cool and unique sound while being so efficient... I saw that and was like "what am I seeing right now". Anyway loved hearing the three of you.
@@TheMikeCompton literally weathering all trials.Last year was tough in every way.... trying to stay inspired. Thanks Tater. Take care and take my love.
fascinating thing for me was seeing the huge difference in left hand technique. MC is so economical - the hand looks almost robotic; just sliding smoothly up and down the fingerboard and the fingers moving only just enough, the hand never changing shape. Sierra's slender fingers moving around so much more with changing hand shape and CC somewhere between the two. Still, all 3 are super accurate and blindingly fast and able to translate their musical intentions with superb precision. Awesome performance, overwhelmingly brilliant stuff.
What an inspiration to those like myself who so desire to be talented in the way you are! I don't know if I can improve enough at 61 to get 1/2 way to this quality. Great!
Mike likes to glide on the strings, so he is not pressing down very hard and may be using a pick that has a large bevel which ideal for that kind of tremeloing.
COMPTON IS THE ONLY ONE WHO PLAYED THE MELODY, AS MONROE WROTE IT, THRUOUT HIS SOLO. YOU KNEW WHAT TUNE HE PLAYING NO MATTER WHERE YOU CAME IN DURING THAT SOLO.
Somebody is trying to go to fast rather than staying with the groove.I understand rawhide is meant to push your limits and Lord knows Bill Monroe did it all the time ,…push the limits.Of course, they are all great. I’ enjoy the contrast of Sierra’s slender long fingers and that fellow in the middle ,with his chubby fingers; and short.

Mike that second break you took was insane! Love that!

Tater ❤️ always discover new things from your playing.... never fails to inspire me....
You are too kind, sir. Here’s hoping all is well at your house and you are weathering all trials.

now that is a rare treat, thank ya vary much.
This is a long way from "The Wind in the Willows" 😀 (Avery's nephew here lol) Great job guys!!!
I really like to image of Compton killing it acoustically, in front a Marshall half stack - rock on!

man how hard is that , it made my hands hurt , loved it !!!!!
Bluegrass should always be played in front of Marshall stacks for effect😜
Compton is the finest at emulating Bill Monroe mandolin sound. Luv the mandolin slide, so Monroe and yet uniquely Compton.
Mike's efficiency is beyond me. You barely see his fingers come off the fretboard.
So,so good. Thank you
I've never seen anything so slick in all my life!
Just three mandolins and four minutes forty-eight seconds with not one boring bit whatsoever!!
If you ain't ca-chunkin', you is solo-in.' Nice job!
that was great
One word, WOW!
Cest tres magnifique
My request!
All I can say is "WOW"
Mike Cimpton Mi Hero!

Ok... So that's how it's done... Thanks!
I love that woman
Beautiful. But I never heard Rawhide anywhere in there.
I'm so sorry to hear about your deafness.
Rawhide is a mandolin tune written by Bill Monroe in 1951 . the TV show theme song rawhide is a different song
Nice !
I was just happy they took my request!
Man that marshall
Great example of multiple pro interpretations of the same song :)
Three people who could all play me into the corner, and yet Sierra is a level above. Much cleaner, much more creative. Amazing.
Neither is a level above the others. One IS NOT better, just different. IMHO Compton’s first break was the best, but only because I liked it best
I was expecting impressive and received what I came for. 🖒🖒🖒
weird on 5.1this only uses the center speaker.
Sierra Hull's pinky finger is so long.
hot

sure beats hauling hay,,lol
Compton full of bad notes....Campbell ....OK and very good rythm.... Hull, about perfect.....!
Lovely players. But with all due respect, that's an awful tune they're playing. To my ears at least.
It is an acquired taste that is easily acquired.
