Brother Ben! Listen to this... my sister gave me a mandolin she could not play anymore. I saw your video and got the mandolin out. I tuned it up and went through the video with you! Mind-blowing! I was playing the G scale - upper and lower as well as playing along with you in LESS than 15 minutes! I am amazed! Thank you!
I started playing the mandolin about 30 years ago and have never had a lesson that wasn't free on the internet. This one was a life changer for me. The most helpful video I have ever watched. Thank You!!!!
I have learned D A and G scales in two octaves each from you in one night! Amazing. Also improvising in them. I'd always been hopeless in music theory on every instrument I ever touched before your Mandolin videos. My eyes use to glaze over five minutes into it whenever someone started talking that stuff before.
Great video! As someone new to both mandolin AND theory in general (after playing guitar for 30+ years), I can unequivocally tell anyone watching this two things: 1) THIS is the path to proficiency. 2) You can do it! Once you know "the neck" in 2-3 scales, you'll start feeling like a superhero! Trust me!
Fifty years ago I was an orchestra violinist 🎻 and had a long-gone mandolin at home. Now in retirement, in another country, this is a perfect first lesson 😀👍+1 and subscribed.
Banjo Ben. i am a Gold Pick member but I just discovered this video on the RUclips. I've been playing mandolin for several years. I can play several fiddle tunes but always too afraid to improvise. I found this video extremely useful.
I always feel like I can get plucking tunes and strumming songs down and sounding okay, even on other instruments, but this video has really made me realize what I have to start working on to get into jamming with others, thanks a ton!
For sure, and don't miss the others in other keys: ruclips.net/video/cgknXmlUwec/видео.html ruclips.net/video/YfunN7D2zQU/видео.htmlsi=AVo56IM8bi26eqfW
Excellent Presentation... muscle memory Would of been nice to see your Buddy play guitar along with you zoom up and merge ... Break me out of the shell ...
@@rickpick9058 Lol..I have short fingers shaped like breakfast sausages, been playing for years, and I am physically unable to play a B Major chord on a mandolin. It just ain't gonna happen, stuck with a B minor for life lol.
You mean the tabs for what I played at the start of the video? The whole point is that if you learn what I teach, you can do your own jamming/improv. The point is to get you off the tab because you're confident in what you're playing on the mandolin. I've already refunded your $10 purchase and would encourage you to watch the whole lesson...I think you'll really enjoy it!

I have big hands and fingers is there a way to play?
Yep. Just do it. Hands come in all shapes and sizes and they can all play mandolin.

How Dino get people to take me seriously holding a toy instrument 😅 I thought Mando would get me chicks but they just laugh at me
I thought by buying this lesson I was going to get Tabs for the jamming lead....I was mistaken!!...wasted $10
