Thanks Baron. You are my main mandolin teacher. So glad to see you making a recent video. Your channel in the mando world is equivalent to Tom Brady in the football world. Nobody has any chance to come close to you.
Thank you so much! And Don’t listen to people in the comments complaining of explaining too much, those people just have very short attention spans due to todays world.
Thank you...I've been a 5 string banjo player for 60 years, but in the past 2 years have been into mando and Irish tenor banjo (both tuned GDAE), and am enjoying the journey after being flatlined for years on the 5 string. Good brain exersize too, for this old guy!
Thank you so much Baron, that was such a good lesson, it reminds me so much of when i was learning Italian, we were taught that if you cant say it one way then say it another
Thanks for the great lesson. I'm primarily a bass guitar and guitarist and wanted to take up mandolin for a couple of projects. This really helped get me started. Great job.
What kind of pickups would you recommend for a mandolin? Fishman's pickups. For example, I have both electric and base and acoustic guitars here and seriously considering my first mandolin and pondering whether to go eight string or four string. Or I might just push the boat out and go both because they would both sound nice with the boss. Oc5 pedal etc. And I can think of other petals too. Gosh thanks so much for your videos. I must check out more. Good luck! Have fun!
Wondering why you aren't barring all strings on some of these chords. For instance D (5:50). You say don't play the E string. But why not bar the second fret and let the F# (3rd) on E string sound out?
Geesh--Such an easy question but I've spent two days trying to find someone who will answer it, but to no avail. I've been gifted a mandolin but I am not musically trained and I cannot get started without knowing which string is which---in other words, which is the G string, which is the C string, which is the D string, which is the E string, etc. From top to bottom, can someone PLEASE get me started???
Every night I lay down to rest. Fearful ill be awakened by someone demanding a B chord. Now I'm set and can rest easy, Thanks Baron XD
How about this one here:ruclips.net/user/shortsCWOMSSygGBc?feature=share

Your approach is exactly how I do it on the fly. Those bar chord shapes get you thru!

Thank you So much.
As a guitarist learning Mandolin, the stress of having mostly backwards is fun and terrifying

I'd love if you'd just say which fingers are where 👍👍
A wild Pizza John! DFTBA!
Good eye!
Can you please tell me the strumming pattern ?
Yeah, I can relate. Working on Celtic with incidentals and obscure keys I chose committing muscle memory to a Bmin.

Hope you have searched for the answer online already. GDAE with G being the lowest pitched
What are the strumming patterns are you using? I’m really trying to learn to play.
merciiiiii☆☆☆☆▪︎
Worst teacher ever sorry 🥴
