So glad that you had Klaus in your honorable mention. I watched the Metal singers video first and couldn't believe neither of you had him on that list. So I knew he had to be included on this one. It's definitely hard to widdle a list down to 10. I really enjoyed the video.

10 of my hard-rock favorites not mentioned in the video. In no particular order: - Ian Astbury - Alice Cooper - Ray Gillen - Bon Scott - Phil Lynott - Billy Squier - Robin Zander - Phil Lewis - Joe Lynn Turner - Mike Reno
Absolutely. Following a legend is never easy. I feel the same way about Howe with Bad Company. When you replace a legendary singer in a band, you are bound to be underrated by the fans.
I agree. However, I think that's largely due to the fact that it was difficult for him to replicate live what he did in the studio. Some of his on stage performances aren't quite as good.
Just saw you on Sea Of Tranquility top ten greatest Thrash Metal debut albums episode. I had to subscribe to your channel after I saw your top ten. Seven of my favorite debut Thrash Metal albums were on your list. Great topic!! My top ten favorite Hard Rock singers in no particular order would have to be. 10. Paul Rodgers 9. Steven Tyler 8. Alice Cooper 7. Lou Gramm 6. Ann Wilson 5. Buck Dharma 4. Ace Frehley 3. Ian Gillan 2. Robert Plant 1. Pat Benatar
Mark Slaughter had an awesome voice. Didn't see anyone mention him below in the comments so I decided to drop his name here. I have most of the Slaughter cds and also the Vinnie Vincent Invasion album he sang on, "All Systems Go". Good stuff. CJ Snare from Firehouse has some great pipes too. I always liked Dave King when he was in Fastway, and also the Katmandu album he sang on. Great singer.
You guys have already mentioned all the legends, so here's my 10 underrated faves: - Danny Bowes (Thunder) - Terry Illous (XYZ) - Nadir D'Priest (London) - Kelly Hansen (Hurricane, Foreigner) - Doogie White (Rainbow, Malmsteen) - Toby Jepsen (Little Angels) - Bob Catley (Magnum) - Claus Lessmann (Bonfire) - Steve Overland (FM) - Robin Beck
Doogie White is great. I love the Rainbow album Stranger In Us All ,and the two Yngwie Malmsteen albums Attack and Unleash The Fury alot. Kelly Hansen is another great singer. Hurricane is a great band, and Kelly has done a PHENOMENAL job in Foreigner. I never thought it was possible for anyone to replace Lou Gramm.
Steve Overland and Doogie White are great picks for underrated vocalists. I don't know your other mentions well, but when it comes to Doogie, people should also check out his work with La Paz and Cornerstone for some more hard rock-/AOR-focused albums. I haven't gone too far down the rabbit hole yet, but the La Paz album Granite was one of my most played albums last year - a great "comfort" hard rock/AOR album.
I have a sleeper pick for this: Griff Stevens of the early 80's bands Russia / Force 10 (overlooked for the last 40+ years). Also want to mention 3 Billy's: Billy Squier, Billy Gibbons, Billy Idol, and also Steven Tyler, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Jim Morrison, Maynard James Keenan. Great channel here!
Good lists, guys. Some of my favorites that were not mentioned are Steven Tyler, Michael Lee Smith (Starz), Rick Medlock (Blackfoot), Phil Lynott, Myles Goodwin (April Wine), Frank DiMino (Angel), Bon Scott, Eric Bloom, Alice Cooper, Gil Moore. And I’m sure I’m forgetting some.
Excellent Choices, I specially agree on Rickey Medlocke (Blackfoot), Myles Goodwyn (April Wine), Frank DiMino (Angel) and Michael Lee Smith (Starz) all of them among my favorite bands.
Thank you Pete for giving some respect to Steve Marriott, my favorite character in rock history. What an amazingly gifted but deeply troubled talent he was. However, what you say is true. Many people now days have never heard of him. People, do your selves a favor and listen to Humble Pie, Small Faces and his solo work singing the blues. RIP Steve - April 20, 1991 - 30yrs gone.
so soulful and buttery smooth-Derek was magic, and when you combine his vocal power with Nuge's blazing riffs and always on point solos.......that stuff ages like fine wine!
This will be difficult but I will try 10. Rod Evans (early Deep Purple Captain Beyond) 9. John Lawton(Lucifers Friend) 8. Don Dokken (before 2000) 7. David Coverdale (Whitesnake) 6. Klaus Meine (Scorpions) 5. Geddy Lee (Rush) 4. Tommy Shaw (Styx) 3. Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) 2. Freddie Mercury (Queen) RIP 1. David Byron(Uriah Heep) by miles RIP Great collobration really enjoyed that.

Thought you were talking about my number one hard rock singer for a second there... The Warning: Three teenage sisters from Mexico. Great show guys! I will just mention Eric Bloom from BÖC who I think is pretty underrated for their harder material as well as Steve Bettney from Saracen who still has it and Kal Swan (Tytan, Lion). Steve Walsh also fits the bill with the Streets albums in the 80s.
Oh man! It's cool to see you guys team up. Been watching Pete for a couple years. Love the whole Hudson crew too! Bryce, I've just discovered your channel but I'll get caught up! Great taste in music guys. Keep on rockin'

I seen Triumph's last tour here in Toronto and it was an amazing hometown concert to cap off Rik's time in the band. They have gotten together a few times in recent years, but I'm still hopeful of a full on reunion show.
Nice Bryce, especially Derek St Holmes ( and Dave Meniketti). The first two that came to mind when I read the title. Worth mentioning ( honorable mention at least): Pat Travers Richie Medlocke John Waite Robin Zander Steven Tyler Buzz Shearman (Moxy) Michael Lee Smith (Starz) Frank Di Mini (Angel) Jeff Keith (Tesla)
You 2 guys give really good different perspectives and are extremely knowledgeable. Me personally I look at what that vocalist does in fronting the band as well so I totally agree on Gene and Paul from KISS. I'd put Bon Scott up in my top 3 and Klaus Meine all were a huge influence in me becoming a huge hard rock fan. I VOTE for Blackie Lawless in top 10 as well.
Good show Pete and Bryce. My singers: Don Brewer, Eric Bloom, Lou Gramm, Steve Walsh, Frank Marino, Steven Tyler, Mick Jagger, Jack Bruce, Klaus Meine, David Byron.
Robin Zander should have been in the top ten. He's in my top 5. His range, ability to transition from singing smooth to raspy, and the emotion he puts into his vocals; why is he hardly mentioned when talking about some of the greatest hard rock singers?! WTF?!
I've been on a huge CT kick as of late and I've thought the same thing. Look at the most recent live clips and he still sounds great despite 45 + yrs into his career.
I’ve said this before, Robin Zander could be in a restaurant and sing the menu to his dinner party and have the whole restaurant just in awe. How is voice is as strong as it has ever been at this point is amazing. Definitely in my top 3.

My top 10 hard rock. In random order. 1 Paul Rodgers 2 Freddie mercury 3 Steve marriott 4 Ian gillian 5 Ann wilson 6 Robert plant 7 Roger daltrey 8 Bon scott 9 Pat benatar 10 David coverdale H M Guy speranza, Ray gillen, Glenn hughes.
Paul Stanley is great, but for me Peter Criss was the best pure hard rock vocalist in Kiss. Soulful, bluesy, raspy. All his Kiss era songs are among my favorites.
Agreed! Peter never gets the respect he deserves as a drummer OR as a vocalist. "Black Diamond", "Baby Driver" (one of the heaviest KISS songs ever), "Strange Ways", "Mainline" are all timeless.
1. Alice Cooper 2. Bon Scott 3. Geddy Lee (70's) 4. Paul Stanley 5. Joey Tempest 6. Joe Elliott 7. Eric Bloom 8. Michael Monroe 9. David Lee Roth 10. Steven Tyler I can't believe nobody mentioned Bon Scott. I like those numbers and pictures in the video. Maybe some old Geezers will think on something like that for their videos. And one more thing... Steve who????
Steve who!?! You, my son need to go back and listen to the "legend". Steve was the 1st choice of Jimmy Page and Tony Iommi for Zepplin and Sabbath (he turned them down). Bowie, Daltry, Plant, Townshend, Keith Richards have all stated that he was the best blues/soul/rock singer UK ever produced. The younger up and comings idolized him - Ozzy, Paul Stanley, Stephen Tyler, Sammy Hagar, Chris Robinson, Steve Perry, Bryan Adams, Jack White, Paul Weller, Gallagher Bros. have stated in writing that he was their hero. When your favorite, Bon Scott died, the AC/DC boys wanted Marriott to replace him, but by that time, Steve was deep into his own addictions and was so rude and insulting to them that they changed their minds. You certainly have a right to your opinions, but please have a good listen (any albums from Smokin and Performance - Rockin the Fillmore backwards. Later albums aren't as good sadly). Even further back to Small Faces -who hardly a soul in the US knows- Steve's voice is amazing. Listen: ruclips.net/video/tp0jZ4BGuDw/видео.html This was 1966 when Steve was just 18 - what a voice. Robert Plant certainly liked it and copied it for Whole Lotta Love. Steve was like a comet, a bright light that burned briefly, then sadly burned out and came to a sad end. Rock on Steve. RIP
@@cindyfalstrom7231 Thanks for reminding me why I don't like Led Zeppelin. And I'm glad he didn't replace Bon Scott in AC/DC. Bon was an aggressive singer, was a bit bluesy sure, but most of all he was a hard rock singer. That Steve Mariott was just a blues singer I guess. But I am not very familiar with Humble Pie so who knows.
@@lucasbeer353 Although Steve Marriott was a very soulful blues singer, Humble Pie was a rock band and Steve was every bit as aggressive as Bon (and he played guitar while doing it!), no disrespect to Bon intended. Before you judge them, you really ought to listen to them so you will know what you are talking about. Take a couple min. to watch this YT video of a live performance of "I Don't Need No Dr.", which is the song they always closed their concerts with. ruclips.net/video/-gWqrP30YXQ/видео.html If you still don't like them, so be it. Ate least you tasted the Pie! I'd love to hear your opinion.
@@cindyfalstrom7231 I love that song 'I don't need no doctor' but in this version ruclips.net/video/_JIWzrRMoQY/видео.html However it's really nice that Humple Pie decided to pay tribute to the mighty WASP! Ha! I've got a feeling that Steve Marriott was overreacting. He was more bluesy that it was actually needed. And I'm not a big blues fan.
@@lucasbeer353 THANK YOU for sending me the link to WASP (I had never heard of them). OMG - they were hilarious - not sure if they were meant to be - I am obviously not a fan of the Big Hair Heavy Metal Bands. However, credit where due - they did a good job with this cover. All it needed was a little blues thrown in - haha. You are probably aware that Humble Pie were covering the Ray Charles version which was MUCH slower and bluesier. My number one would easily be Roger Daltrey of The Who! The highpoint of his career would be in Quadrophenia! Love Reign O'er Me gets me everytime! Fantastic song and fantastic range Daltrey had!
Love Roger, too. However, here is a quote from Roger taken from his memoir ":Steve Marriott, in my opinion was the greatest rock/soul singer we've ever had." Steve was greatly respected by his peers. My first concert was Triumph and Foghat in '83..Never Surrender tour. Foghat had no stage room, no light show to speak of, but they absolutely rocked their asses off. Triumph was otherworldly with the lights and lasers. I totally agree with Rik Emmet's amazing musicianship, and how he played that stuff while singing the way he does I suppose is why some guys become legends and some make a record or ten. They set the bar really high as to how I judge a concert experience. Great pick at #2.

7 - Klaus Meine
8 - Phil Lynott
9 - Robert Plant
10 - Lou Gramm
10 of my hard-rock favorites not mentioned in the video. In no particular order:
- Ian Astbury
- Alice Cooper
- Ray Gillen
- Bon Scott
- Phil Lynott
- Billy Squier
- Robin Zander
- Phil Lewis
- Joe Lynn Turner
- Mike Reno
Billy Squier’s Don’t Say No is one of my favorite albums. Such a great blend of hard rock and commercial rock
Love seeing Bryce and Pete do a ranking together. Also, love the props for Lenny and Kingdom Come. Great, underrated band.
I think Graham Bonnet is an underrated frontman.
Absolutely. Following a legend is never easy. I feel the same way about Howe with Bad Company. When you replace a legendary singer in a band, you are bound to be underrated by the fans.
One of the best.
@@kforcer the bad company albums with Brian Howe are actually pretty good. I enjoy them and they’re pretty good rocking albums with Brian.
I agree. However, I think that's largely due to the fact that it was difficult for him to replicate live what he did in the studio. Some of his on stage performances aren't quite as good.
⭐️Lou Gramm⭐️
Just saw you on Sea Of Tranquility top ten greatest Thrash Metal debut albums episode. I had to subscribe to your channel after I saw your top ten. Seven of my favorite debut Thrash Metal albums were on your list.
Great topic!!
My top ten favorite Hard Rock singers in no particular order would have to be.
10. Paul Rodgers
9. Steven Tyler
8. Alice Cooper
7. Lou Gramm
6. Ann Wilson
5. Buck Dharma
4. Ace Frehley
3. Ian Gillan
2. Robert Plant
1. Pat Benatar
Great list, great to see Pat benatar in there along side Ann wilson, the top two female vocalists in hard rock history.
@@ukrocksounds3419 Thank you
Mark Slaughter had an awesome voice.
CJ Snare is awesome. Made my honorable mentions list for sure. Slaughter has a great voice too, you’re right
Totally!
You guys have already mentioned all the legends, so here's my 10 underrated faves:
- Danny Bowes (Thunder)
- Terry Illous (XYZ)
- Nadir D'Priest (London)
- Kelly Hansen (Hurricane, Foreigner)
- Doogie White (Rainbow, Malmsteen)
- Toby Jepsen (Little Angels)
- Bob Catley (Magnum)
- Claus Lessmann (Bonfire)
- Steve Overland (FM)
- Robin Beck
@Arcade Kaos Thanks 👍🤘
Kelly Hansen and Nadir D'Priest, good calls!
Nice to see live for Thunder's Danny! Massively underrated singer and band!!
Great show Bryce ! Love your channel love SoT so I really enjoy these shows! Keep on rocking in the free world:)
Great, great show guys !! Very entertaining, had a lot of fun !! Thanks !!

Dio.... Rainbow was hard rock so he's in
Mercury

Coverdale
Daltery
Chris Cornell.... Im including him here

This was awesome to watch. Pete is such a good guy and so easy to listen to.
Pete, you totally asked the Ted Nugent question I've been asking for years! Derek St. Holmes is such a great singer.
so soulful and buttery smooth-Derek was magic, and when you combine his vocal power with Nuge's blazing riffs and always on point solos.......that stuff ages like fine wine!

Thought you were talking about my number one hard rock singer for a second there...
The Warning: Three teenage sisters from Mexico. Their 2nd album, Queen of the Murder Scene, is a concept album/rock novel, which is best listened to in album order because it tells a linear story, and live because of the energy of their performance with an audience. The following links are from their 2019 concert at Foro Didi, which I consider their finest performance. Through technical difficulties, they push on giving professionals a lesson to aspire to. One particular technical issue caused a version of the second track I find very well done regardless.
Anyway, here's links for your viewing and listening pleasure, and please do watch as well as listen...

Love the Kingdom Come respect!! Love the band and remember them when they came out. Still collect their albums
I forgot Eric Bloom! Definitely in my honourable mentions.

Worth mentioning ( honorable mention at least):
Pat Travers
Richie Medlocke
John Waite
Robin Zander
Steven Tyler
Buzz Shearman (Moxy)
Michael Lee Smith (Starz)
Frank Di Mini (Angel)
Jeff Keith (Tesla)
You 2 guys give really good different perspectives and are extremely knowledgeable. Me personally I look at what that vocalist does in fronting the band as well so I totally agree on Gene and Paul from KISS. I'd put Bon Scott up in my top 3 and Klaus Meine all were a huge influence in me becoming a huge hard rock fan. I VOTE for Blackie Lawless in top 10 as well.
you dont know how long ive been wanting this lol
Great video and picks guys, two of my favourite RUclips channel , the worlds are colliding. Great Queen shirt too Pete. The greatest non metal band 🤘
Nice job fellas- Me being Pete's age I'm always amazed with Bryces' overall knowledge of classic rock and metal.
Good show Pete and Bryce. My singers: Don Brewer, Eric Bloom, Lou Gramm, Steve Walsh, Frank Marino, Steven Tyler, Mick Jagger, Jack Bruce, Klaus Meine, David Byron.
I agree Tyler.....no doubt.
Nice to see both of you together,I follow both of your channels
Great to hear two generations compare music tastes. Greetings from Australia. Cheers
The fantastic Front man and writer of ACDC.... Mr Bon Scott.
Robin Zander should have been in the top ten. He's in my top 5. His range, ability to transition from singing smooth to raspy, and the emotion he puts into his vocals; why is he hardly mentioned when talking about some of the greatest hard rock singers?! WTF?!
Agreed. Very underrated and still singing great today unlike some other guys his age. Not sure why he often gets overlooked
I've been on a huge CT kick as of late and I've thought the same thing. Look at the most recent live clips and he still sounds great despite 45 + yrs into his career.
Nothing against Robin, I love him, but he’s not a top 10 guy for me.
@@sotdude7 Fair call
I’ve said this before, Robin Zander could be in a restaurant and sing the menu to his dinner party and have the whole restaurant just in awe. How is voice is as strong as it has ever been at this point is amazing. Definitely in my top 3.

Super show.Great team.😃👍...Bon Scott.
Getaway is a great exemple too
Jimmy Dewar would definitely be in my top 10.
In no order, Paul Rodger,s, R. Plant, Mercury, Phil Mogg, Robin Zander, S. Marriot, Dio,.....I"m certain there's a few more.
I saw Triumph in 1985 with Dokken opening up. Great show!!! Nice one with Rik Emmett

I can't believe nobody mentioned Bon Scott.
This old geezer appreciates you showing me something new, however, I'll stick with the old timers thankyou! Nice talking w/you....
