If they would update this recorder, especially the video quality I would buy it. But this thing is now 5 years old. Unfortunately it's the only "thing" of its kind. The dual XLR inputs is awesome. But I'll just wait until a new version comes out.
Yes, the video quality is absolutely nothing to write home about. But, I do enjoy using it for B-Roll, while using the audio input for primary capture. That’s how this was made: ruclips.net/video/vdrCNx9dZCc/видео.html
I am looking into options for making videos, as my current DSLR doesn't have a microphone input... a nicer DSLR or Mirrorless is pretty expensive, and I am hoping to not have to record video and audio separately... I'd love a device like this, and would probably be happy with it even at 1080 if that is quality video... but 4k60 would be much better as a new purchase in 2021. I just kinda know if I buy this a few months later it will be updated with a 4k version with better video...
@@isaiahfurrow7414 You would really think they would update this with a real camera. It looks cool for B-Roll I guess (watch the guitar review I did if you want, the overhead/black/white shots are all the q8, here ---> ruclips.net/video/vdrCNx9dZCc/видео.html
The Sony had the HDR-MV1 which was better video quality and comparable audio performance. Unfortunately that was discontinued and I don't see a replacement from Sony for it, so I guess this the only option for a small camcorder of this kind.
I just used the mic stand adapter on this one (linked below) and tossed it on a mic stand. But it has a standard camera fitting and fits on my other tripods, too. www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/zoom-msm-1-microphone-stand-mount-for-action-cameras?rNtt=Zoom%20stand%20adapter&index=4
Hello. Can i ask, what software you're using to edit? I like that the audio and video is already synched, but I'd like to edit the audio or bring in another video file. I can't find a step by step video, as if I'm supposed to know what's going on. Thanks... oh, and your playing is just fantastic. I'm a bass player.
Gerry926 Hi there, thanks for watching. This was edited using Filmora Wondershare. I bought a lifetime license a few years ago (like $100?) and it’s served me adequately enough. It has all the bells and whistles for my video editing needs. As far as audio, it has some basic functionality like Noise reduction, panning, EQ, fades etc. hope this helps! And thank you so much for the kind words on the playing ❤️
Gerry926 Filmora is pretty user friendly and intuitive, has a pretty decent online community for questions and lots of RUclips video demonstrations, too!
@@smokeymtnguitarnerd2539 Let me suggest that you look into correcting the curve that the lense has using Filmora. Using the curve filter and max zoom settings on the camera, you should use the Hero 4 camera settings and never change the zoom setting.
Thanks for watching! Please subscribe for more content in the future!
Awesome presentation and awesome playing sir. You know your way around that ax!
That's very kind of you, thanks so much James!
will I be able to play like you if I buy this Zoom Q8 Camcorder? very enjoyable presentation.
Ha! Only if you get the proprietary Zoom guitar strings. They plug right into the SD card slot!
I think its not capable of recording loud sound, thanks for your video sir
Not sure if I agree…as long as you set levels like anyone typically would (you have gain adjustment for all inputs) should
Be fine!

The better vid quality would be worth picking up - I find I only use this for mobile audio capture, with some B-Roll making the cut.
What tripod are you using for the Zoom Q8 ? Thank you

Is zoom q8 powered (without using the battery) while it is connected line webcam via usb to the pc?
Pretty sure it is not - but I'm not 10% sure.

Till There Was You !
👍💯
Can that fisheye /warp effect be removed?
Yeah man, it mellows as you zoom in. Zoomed way out it does that to get the wide angle.
Thanks!!
You bet!
Will the Zoom Q8 work with windows 10 ? 🤔
Yah man, I got mine to work as a webcam, dumped cards directly from cam to my SSD, no problems whatsoever.
@@smokeymtnguitarnerd2539 much appreciated, thank you . 👍

Nice. Till there was you.
Ha, awesome! Not often recognized anymore. Been fiddling with some form of that arrangement on and off. Always liked the tune :) Cheers ,mate
