Just made my first ebay auction purchase in 17 years last night and with 1 second to go I won myself a Zoom Q8. I paid $151 Canadian Dollars with shipping and tax from the US but it appears it does not come with any of the accessories unfortunately. You video was EXCELLENT! Like the below comment states a very clear presentation and awesome tips and tricks for using this. I like how you mentioned running a line out of the headphone jack into the mixer. I need to get a cable like that. Never thought of doing that with my original 2007 Zoom H2 or 2010 Q3 HD before. Last night I got to tape my friends band with his Q2n 4k. I also used my go pro hero session for some additional angles along with my LG G8X thin q and Google pixel 6a to try out for some other shots. I threw up my zoom Q3 HD as well just to capture additional audio and figured what the hell why not use my Panasonic Dc-ZS70 point and shoot from 2018 for some good zoom shots. Lots of editing ahead but excited to see how it all turns out. I will be referencing back to this awesome video of yours when I get my Zoom Q8 in a few weeks for your tips and tricks. Loved how you showed your live concert footage at the end and when you blended the 2 you had great audio and watchable video. I am going for the same thing decent watchable video with great audio. Thanks for making this awesome tips and tricks video! I will be watching more of your content and Subbed! Cheers from Canada!
Awesome video and clips to support it. I just revisited my Q8, which had been in a studio switcher input (grainy and awful). I took it to a job and was blown away. Your video is spot on and exactly how I see it. It's more than good enough in lighted situations. I read the entire manual and watched all videos. Yours is the best, thank you! I especially thank you for the headphone splitter idea, a question that I've asking. Great musicians BTW.
Fantastic video on tips for the zoom q8. I bought that recorder last year and yet to even use it. I am now making plans to do some youtube, podcasting and live band music videos too so this really helps me out !!! THANKS.
Thanks for the tips. Last night was my first attempt at recording acoustic guitar. I have a lot to learn. Now I know that the Q8n4k was too far away. I seriously doubt either mic was pointed anywhere near the guitar. In addition, I was kicking back on the sofa with the sound hole of the guitar facing the ceiling rather than the Zoom. Basically what I was picking up were sounds bouncing off walls, ceiling and furniture so terrible mid range mud was the result. After an hour and a quarter of recording the battery died mid-song and then took hours to recharge in-camera. The Q8n4K is capable of providing separate sound and video files and can record 4 tracks: two built-in plus two external mics. Lessons learned; move the camera up close, sit up straight, order a spare battery plus AC power adapter so I can avoid using the battery, plug in my external mics. With no video or DAW editing experience the learning curve is steep but fun.
Nice video! It does seem very useful, although I'd have liked you to explain more how the 4-track recorder works and how easy/not easy it all is to use. Thanks for making this!
I was looking forward to a comparison with the Q8n-4K - somehow I didn't come across it. Real approach, good video. I just think that the noise of the street might not be completely bad - after all, you're playing it on the street. If you wanted to play in the studio, it wouldn't be a problem. The street, even with its noises, has its own charm and we have heard that the noise does not outweigh the music. For me, audio is also more important than video, but if I want to play to people, I have to consider their priorities as well. As a singer-songwriter, I mainly record at home, and so that all the songs don't look the same, I use greenscreen, but then I have to put the Q8 camera right in front of me, because the angle of view is horribly, senselessly huge.
Great video. You explained the features excellently. I want to use the camera in my studio, but i dont want to buy a computer. I need a comera with excellent stereo audio and acceptable video. Mostly, i need the camera to utilize Bluetooth! I am subscribing because i liked the band in the video.
I can attest to how great these are. I use two with my rock/pop bands: one close to the stage and one over the drums. I use the audio from those, synced and mixed. Then I use a Sony camcorder out front and I don’t use the audio from that.
I was thinking of getting this camera as I want to make guitar recordings I know the audio is good but how reasonable is the quality of the videos when recording at home at night is it really worth it 🥰🏴
So you utilize a computer. I have a Tascam Model 24 with an sd card.. i don't want to buy a computer. My RUclips channel is a hobby, at this poin. So, if i cant mix my sound from my mixer ,transfer to the camera so i can get it on my phone to place on to RUclips. Excellent video, and excellent camera. Thanks. I love jazz and some Dixie. And, i subscribed. I have 2 dynamic mics, but i play 5 keyboards. Guitar, and my cd recorder. I think i will enjoy your channel.
Great. does Zoom Q8/Q8n4k have clean HDMI when I am using the micro HDMI port connection to a capture card? what's the temperature in terms of heating. can it be used for a long time when live streaming? can it also be used for live streaming when there is no sd memory card fixed in it?
I've never tried the hdmi output, so I'm not sure whether it's a clean feed, or whether it works without a card. I've had it recording for hours at a time in hot environments without any overheating.
Why records (SD card) each part max recording 4gb at the zoom q8 ( about 30minutes)? Then he makes a next part and so on. The WAV has no ineruption. Is this also with the new Zoom q8/4k?
no they are able at thoman in germany as i bought my recorder 1 weak ago my date. so its not gone and worth the money. Im a youtuber that disses 4k as not all has it and it costs too mutch to go in tothat

Thanks for this review, finally a band-musician's knowledge and point of view!
İzlediğim en iyi ürün tanıtım videolarından biri. Teşekkürler! Cheers mate! Greetings from İstanbul.. :)
Excellent video. Clear presentation and actual real world examples of it in use. Looking forward to some more great tips from you.
Really helpful tips. It makes a lot of sense.

Excellent video, so helpful from a musician’s perspective. Thank you!
This is really helpful stuff. I've been thinking of getting one of these, and probably will.

Thanks for the vid! Can you adjust the wide angle lens, or is always fixed on the 160 degree shot?
Just bought this. Thanks for the tips! Regards from Spain

Thank you so much
Is it possible to record audio only, send it to a DAW on two seperate tracks? Thx
I’m not sure about the old model, but you definitely can with the new 4K!

And is that you playing the tuba. Sounds very fine!
Is this cam good for videoing Tennis match? Zoom Q8n-4K Handy Video Recorder

How are you blending the two sounds together?........thanks

I can't find any sort of remote control for this-am I missing it?

@@themoodmerchants thank you
Cheers for that! What camera and mic are you using for this actual video?
Might of helped if the horns were actually playing into their mics not 2 feet away....
What’s the best microSD card to buy. Thanks 🙏
I don't have either, I know the Q8n4k can save a separate 24/48 WAV as well as the video
Why not just plug it into the board?
Do you post mix the audio with software?if so what do you use? Thank you

I think that the file system on the memory card supports max 4gb files, so it's not camera related thing.
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks David!

sorry not on topic...but does anyone else think he looks like Roy Keane (ex man-u player) lol
To me, he could be Craig Ferguson's younger brother!
