Wow, I'm 47 now, I feel I've gone back in time to when I was about 9. I used to watch this, and amazingly I remember the theme tune even now. I never thought I'd hear it again. Thank you. Life was a lot happier and simpler back then. Love this.
First time I have watched this since I was a kid and forgot how awesome it is. It is really heavy for kids cartoons compared to nowdays. Basically showing you that you will have a job you don't like with a boss who doesnt care. Your highlight of the working day being lunch.
I'm 23, I remember this particular feature length on VHS tape, my nan owns it and it's the only kids cartoon that she owns; noone else I know owns it or even heard of it. I watched it over and over every time I went there. I have only just found this again! I can't express my joy right now. I'm going to rip it onto a DVD and get my nephew to watch it, next time I babysit him.
I can't believe I found it! Used to watch this as a kid.. and all I could remember until today was a character with a big nose getting bitten by a giant stone age mosquito. Thanks for posting!
No doubt the best theme tune to a cartoon that I can remember , in the 70s . Very found memories thank you uploader your a gent. and the Italian original soundtrack is a belter too.
Sometime in the late 80's my dad somehow got his hands on some random VHS tapes that we planned to use to record over. On whim we decided to watch the first one and my sister and I fell in love. On another whim..today 30 something years in the future I decided to search for it. Found it! They sure did a great job on the animation for 1976..
God so right mate, this tune has been indeliblly planted in my brain since the first time i heard it and all the incidental music. Not forgetting of course the star (My names Rossi)
Thank you SOOOO much for posting these! I have it on VHS but it's falling apart from being like over 20 years old. I tried finding a new tape or DVD of it and all I could find was the original Italian version. THANKS A MILLION!
Thanks for uploading this! Used to watch this on ITV after school in 1984. It’s quite an adult themed cartoon. I enjoyed it but I think a lot of it went over my head as a kid. Makes much more sense now! They sure don’t make them like this anymore.
I first saw Mr. Rossi in another Bozetto film, "Allegro Non Troppo". Rossi had a small cameo in it, just like Mickey Mouse's cameo in Disney's "Fantasia". The film Bozetto was spoofing. So nice to actually see these most original cartoons.
There were actually two English Versions of this Movie, this one here was made in the 70s in the UK and the second one was made in the US in the 80s (together with the other two rossi movies). You can see a small part of the US Version at the end of this Video: ruclips.net/video/UiRKFDn2K9I/видео.htmlm19s Sadly i havent found the Full Version of the US Dub of Mr Rossi Looks for Happiness and Mr Rossi's Dreams yet, so if someone still has a Recording i would be very Interested. The third one (Mr Rossi's Vacation) can be seen Completely on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/kwyuJ3vd_9w/видео.html
I wake up when they want me to, I eat when they want me to, I think what they want me to. It's not strange it set off certain thought processes when I watched this as a kid, it makes one start to think who Gaston is, if there are any Gaston's in our lives? One starts to ask certain important questions. It all came wrapped into this epic comic from the 70's, perhaps the first confirmation of thoughts one had asked oneself, but which was rarely addressed elsewhere in the "happy' 70's. PS: IMO Gaston and Rossi is a joint package of the human mind and how one goes through life. One needs someone to "guide" you and help you along in this chaotic world. In the series Gaston is his bosses watch dog and his travel companion. And what is the "magic whistle" but not a way to open the mind. :D
Rossi's voice is different in this one because it's a British release. The American dub has Arthur Grosser as Mr. Rossi ans Gastone the dog is named Harold in our version.
@FARFALLONEBICCHIERE Bozzetto worked with some great people back then. Both Nichetti and Manuli made a film years later of some interest to mention called "Volere Volare".
@masael255 I remember the FHE version of "Mr. Rossi's Vacation" myself. I kinda had the impression that one was dubbed up in Canada since one of the voice actors sounded rather similar to me for something else they may've done.
Really, REALLY want the 'Disney Channel version'... Can't find it anywhere. The voice acting was superb. Made it so much funnier. Watched the scene with the barbarian invasion during the king and Rossi's conversation... One of the funniest animated sequences ever (imo) ruined by the voice cast featured here. Not the uploader's fault, probably all he could get.
I didn't realize there were two dubs of Mr. Rossi Looks for Happiness. Do you happen to know what the company was that dubbed this version? I have the Family Home Entertainment (f.h.e.) version. Thanks for uploading this gem, though!
You know, with all the modern bells and whistles that they use in animation today, sometimes you just have to jump back a few decades to get a feel for something good. Don't believe me? Google Rocky and Bullwinkle

I loved this as a kid. Uber cool soundtrack. Trippy story and animation. A seriously underated cartoon.
I haven't seen this in 30 years. But that tune has been ringing in my head ever since.
+1

Thank you Mitogen for giving me my childhood back. I waited 30 years to hear that theme tune again and it was worth it.
Best theme song ever.

Same here. Took me years to find Mr. Rossi. The one I was looking for was Mr. Rossi's Vacation. Such a classic.
Andrew Gregerson I'm a child but my dad used to watch this and I found that part when he got bit so different
No doubt the best theme tune to a cartoon that I can remember , in the 70s . Very found memories thank you uploader your a gent. and the Italian original soundtrack is a belter too.
Cheers for all the nice comments, glad you are enjoying it. :) Sadly I don't have any more Mr. Rossi.

Bloody brilliant. You don't get many kids cartoons as thought provoking as this.
Best cartoon ever! :)
I remember watching this!! But please this poor man is living the life we life in 2019!!!!!!! Totally depression!!!!!😖😖😖😖
Lmao 🤣
Mr. Rossi works at the sardines factory, and on his lunch break he is allowed to eat just one sardine!
Brings back good memories; I thank you for it, because it was one of my favorite growing up.
God so right mate, this tune has been indeliblly planted in my brain since the first time i heard it and all the incidental music. Not forgetting of course the star (My names Rossi)
This is soo soooooo sooooooooo completely awesome! Thank you so much for posting these! :)

No mater how old , still searching X
Yes!!!! Oh thank you GOD!!!!! Finally after all these years!!!!!!
Thanks so much for putting these on youtube! I've been looking for them for a very long time!
Man I use to watch the movie chap chap chap Mr. Rossi all the time when I was a kid
I remember loving this as a kid now at 39 years of age I've realised how depressing it actually was.
Watched this here in Kenya as a kid in the 1980s.
*hugs you tight* i've been waiting to see this ever since i learned it existed. thank you!
Gosh I so love this music.. so cool 😎
100% for adding this to the tube, cheers
Omg this warms my heart , it was on so rarely , BB2 I think
Oh. My. Goodness!!!!! I used to watch this all the time! It was on a VHS tape with the anime Aladdin!
I wish it had the other voice for Mr. Rossi. The version I watched had the same voice from Mr. Rossi's Vacation.

Amazing. I am so happy right now.
Beautiful music
This takes my back.
The voices on the Disney Channel version that I used to watch were different
Back when the Disney Channel was awesome.
Mr Rossi is the Best.
80s cartoons were the best, they literally don't make them this good any more.
I wake up when they want me to,
I eat when they want me to,
I think what they want me to.

*****
Indeed! Indeed bro.
+HBH ZTH It is deep! I just had another revelation reading your reply, and original comment! :D
great music is this show the intro is amazing
coool - caught in the big machine - - -
You`ve made my year! XD
Good movie so far.
Does anyone know who composed the theme music? It is completely unforgetable for some reason.
All of the music including the theme were composed by Franco Godi.
I'm about 10 years younger than you, and this was also a big favorite of mine as a kid.
Ha Ha I made that comment 2 years ago and I'm now 41! But I get your point.
brilliant thank you :D

Proves that dinosaurs discovered fire before man!
Wow, it's like you typed this comment for me. Right down to me also being 39! Viva the internet!
@FARFALLONEBICCHIERE Bozzetto worked with some great people back then. Both Nichetti and Manuli made a film years later of some interest to mention called "Volere Volare".
@druekberg Bozzetto's work certainly inspired many.
ah the good old days

TOO COOL FOR THAT SCHOOL!

I didn't know that Gastone was the dog of Rossi's boss
Haha :) Hope you enjoy it.
I seem to remember one where he became a racing driver. Anyone?
The mosquito sucking his nose was very disrespectful.

The real Mr. Rossi, not the fake one from Criminal Minds.
LOL. Oh well
Everyone here is older than me
There was a time he didn't talk at all
Brilliant. And probably paid for by the Italian Communist Party.
This is NOT for childrens
