If it's less than 800 it's all in vain.
If it doesn't make 850 burn it down.
What do the coloured dots on the turbo's mean?
A lot lmao
Guessing around 800 and near 1000 tq. Will you be adding a tune with all of this?
Rich Rebuilds has the cutting edge humour, Hoovie has the cars, Wizard has the knowledge, Samcrac has the hustle but only Legit SC is still an ordinary car like all of us normal YT viewers - sincere and engaging with honest stories about his and our shared passion - we love your content and your sincerity. yes lsc is an ordinary car
Well said!
No one would watch ordinary guy. The dude has good public presence and charisma.
Check @M5e39 restoration have similar content.
@@TheXMuscle excellent suggestion I agree 💯.
I bet Im not only one who have been waiting for this for a long while.
Kyllä nyt aika kauan venasin että tää tulee
I can't believe he actually posted this vid Xd
No you are not!
Nope ur not alone 😎✌️
Yup
Can't wait for this thing to fire up, it's going to be a monster!
Long time no see
In some ways it already was one 🤤
4:25 Brake cleaner, which has a million and one uses, sometimes even for cleaning brakes :-)
Made a coffee, breakfast, got back into bed and saw this was posted. Talk about Saturday morning perfection.
I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one that wakes up hungry and makes breakfast and goes back to bed lol..on the weekend anyway
I did the same lol
If he ever stops, Alex is going to mess up a lot of people’s Saturday morning routines!
Exactly Saturday morning perfection, even here in far away Nigeria, West Africa. Been expecting this video for quite some time.
I honestly love how authentic this channel is, no gimmicks, just straight up wrenching, easily one of my favorite people to watch! And I love that we get stuff done, not “here’s my Mercedes, see you in a month to show that I’ll
Be doing” lmaoooo progress every video, love it
Also he actually drives his build cars, and drives them hard, often at the strip or with a timing device, so we can see the results of his work. I hate go-fast build-channels where at the end, they basically just putter around town for a bit and call the build a success. Or all they do is some lame runs on the dyno as if some pulls in a very controlled environment where the drivetrain sees very little stress means anything. If I don't see the finished product being driven hard, I just assume it's brittle and the whole build was a sham.
Apart from the cringe worthy advert for hair restorer.
@@pauledmonds3249 he’s got bills to pay like the rest of us
Sooo glad you’re doing this work the right way. Smart upgrades, all the “while you’re there” jobs, and especially all the cleaning!
Tasos deserves that spotlight, absolute legend! Good on you Alex!
You will need to have a new little plaque made that says 'Hand built by Alex' to put on the engine cover !
I couldn’t click fast enough. I’ve been waiting on this!!!
You are not alone. 😁
Thats a woman you want! 😍
I'm so glad i have 11 more videos in that playlist!
I really should follow your lead and check my audio after every scene ;)
I've been burned many times.
@@LegitStreetCars Haha, me too. I just am not smart enough to learn from my mistakes ;)
lol more work but better quality videos and your mic fails so often Jeff :p I would hate to film doing stuff though.
Man, I don't know how Alex’s brain remembers how to put that whole engine back together. Credit to his mechanical skills!.👍👍👍💞. 16:58
Looks great. All that cleaning makes you appreciate how much time Tasos must put into that and when you mentioned the Timing Chain, I figured you got that from him.
@Arnold Doci1 lol…I’m into cars as much as tech. 😀
This is like building a space ship compared to what I'm willing to do.
Note the timing cover keeps the timing chain in time on the crank sprocket. Mere mortal engines (e.g. GM Ecotec) do no such thing.
Can't wait for this engine build to be complete.
Finally back on the V12 LETS GOO!
I like how you’re replacing all things that may fail later on as preventative and I love that! Why do the job again later down the track….
Yes! I cannot stand when I see people doing work like this and not taking those things into account. I mean it’s SO easy to do it now and then you don’t have to worry about it.
@@ghostwrench2292 normally if you weren’t doing the work yourself I.e. at a mechanic, they wouldn’t even recommend you to replace anything cos they wanna slug you again when another part fails which should have been replaced when you’re in there for a different job in the first place
It is "der Zylinderkopf" for one head or "die Zylinderköpfe" for two. Greetings from Germany ;-)
Das zylinderkopfz...
Hey Alex, really appreciate your content, I'm always excited to see a new video drop. Keep up the great work.
Alex I heard that you can extend the life of your timing chain by cryogenically freezing it, but you have to do it twice
Can I use my freezer for that?
@@LegitStreetCars If you have a deep freezer, yes; but you have to put it all the way at the bottom. Twice.

So just visit Canada in the dead of winter.
I mean he does live in Chiberia
Most underrated automotive channel on RUclips.
These are so satisfying to watch. Can’t wait to see the car start
Love that you put out content as soon as you get parts in. Really shows that you enjoy what you’re doing. Love your videos man, can’t wait to see this project finished!!
Alex- everyone loves how genuine and original your channel is.. keep it up!
I seriously can’t wait until this engine turns over and Alex announces “Restoring the CL65 completely from beginning to End in one video” CANT WAIT
Love how you clean all the parts and exposed pieces, great attention to detail.
Thats a good point about the timing chain. It also has the advantage of MANY heat cycles that would have shown any weak points. Nice work mt friend.
"Dude get off my engine!" has got to be one of the all time best lines 🤣. Even though I've heard it a thousand times your music works so well with engine work time lapses. Keep em coming man, amazing content especially those out of this world CNC automated port polishing!
This should definitely be on a t-shirt. Lol
Man you can tell you truly have a passion for working on cars. The attention to detail shows. On top of doing all the work you are also filming it which I could imagine takes so much more effort. 👍
Yesdd
Keep it up pal. We really appreciate all this. This what many of us been waitin for.
I love these videos! They’re gonna be the reason I end up with an amg
I really enjoy your videos and like your workmanship, the one thing I would to interject is I think you should have cleaned the engine before disassembly instead of stripping parts off and cleaning with internals exposed, possibly betting dirt and debris inside engine. I have been an aircraft mechanic for closed to 50 years and wouldn't try this , so you know how much I admire you, thanks again for providing these videos!
Amazing: A engine component that gets better with age, like a fine wine!
Waited patiently on this one and love where your at so far-this will be epic!!!
Thanks for making the video... My most anticipated!
"One more can" of brake clean is the perfect amount for any job!
I never realized these had single cam heads. I always thought they were dohc like the m120. I love my v12 w140
A few years back I had an 08 CL65. Bone stock the thing was an absolute monster. Can't wait to see what this car does.
great vid, love watching the hands on approach to building this engine.
Legit Street Cars: Now we have a map for the cylinder heads
Mercedes USA: Thank you sir!
I was proud of myself for building an LS... this is a few levels above that.
Man. Building an Ls is some feat. I’m here struggling with rebuilding my 2 stroke bike engine
I just want to let you know how much of an inspiration you are man. Every single video I watch, I learn something new about cars. I one day hope to know as much as you when it comes to cars as cars are my passion also. I just never had anyone that could really tutor me or anything, and out of all my friends I know the most about cars so they can’t teach me much haha! But I appreciate your channel and the information you give thank you so much!
Thanks for the videos! Your the last online auto guy who is still down to earth and real. I appreciate that. The other guys have gotten big heads. Thanks for all you do!
First time I've watched an engine rebuild and enjoyed it he makes rebuilding an engine sound so easy that even a none mechanic like me thinks wow I could learn that one day well done mate great video 📹 👍
You know you could have done the cleaning step while the heads were out LOL But love seeing you do this job as a fellow technician :-)
Finally, your getting that monster put back together! 👏I can't wait to hear what it sounds like with ported and polished heads on it!😁
Finally ! My lord ive been waiting for progress on this project :D
I’d look into the Scotchbrite pads again. I’ve heard that have aluminum oxides as abrasives which is very damaging to engines if it gets into bearing or cylinder walls.
You're an absolute mad lad doing all this then going to work 🤣
Looking forward to the finished product. Always impressed.
You are a magician. How do you remember how to put everything back correctly, at the right moment, with the right bolt, etc. there are so many pieces!!!! I am speechless.
Watching the cleaning of the engine is literally so therapeutic!
I've always wanted one of those cars but every time I find one it's just out of my price range great to see it back on the channel can't wait to see how it performs
get a broken one.
@crazeguy26 that's what I was implying its not very high on my list I have too many expensive toys then I barely have time for cuz I'm always working and if I bring any more cars home my wife will make me live it on
keep this series coming , very informative deep dive into the amg v12
I’ve worked at an audi and porsche dealer. Never really known much about mercedes. But was blown away by my buddies 2012 s65 amg. It was insane watching the speedo from the back seat. The v12 made the air outside its bitch. Was accelerating as hard at 170 as it was at 70. And all while in the lapse of quite luxury.
As a tech of over 20yrs i enjoy your videos.
This whole engine is "replace while in there" lol
Been watching tasos vids for over a year. He's a wiz when it comes to Mercedes
I've been waiting for this video for quite a while now, cheers!
First one of yours I have watched. Engine rebuild without dramas. Enjoyable.
This was like watching a Detail Geek video, but for inside the engine instead of inside the car. 🤣
Great way be to start my Saturday, now I want to go clean my car. 😂
Alex, XF Motorsports crafted aluminum pistons in his shop for his MB engine made it AMG, he may wanna hook u up. Its kinda last min call but u may wanna consider it before putting together ur engine
i appreciate anyone who takes the time to clean everything while repairing them
Can't wait to hear this run! Great work.
I would never try anything like this but it's really interesting to see
Great work! I always enjoy watching and learning from you.
Your contents and execution are flawless. Love your positive vibes! Definitely will watch all your videos! Cheers.
Gotta hand it to Alex, grinding on RUclips and working a full time job.
I don't get how he does it, I can barely handle my job and little projects
I love how much I'm learning when though I don't have a Mercedes.
Hello from Brazil!!!! Your videos are awesome and I’m thrilled with this série. Can’t wait to see this engine running..
Very Informative what you provide in your videos. I’ve been here for a long time. As the CL series is my favorite car in all time! I can’t wait till I see the last video about your CL! Hopefully everything goes well and smooth ASAP
It's just me, but, as this is a "Hoovie" car I might have wanted a look at the bottom end. We don't need a 'everything broken on my CL65' vid after OJ beats it on the dyno! Can't wait to see what this thing does! 750 to the wheels?
After seeing countless engine repair/rebuild videos like this and seeing how much labor is involved with replacing even the cheapest part, it's no wonder electric is the future for the mainstream
The amount of moving parts on a diesel/gasoline motor compared to an electric motor is abysmal
Well this is an AMG… not a Subaru lol
Awesome!!! Great seeing the wrenching!!!
Awesome workmanship, keep it up! We are living vicariously through you!
Having rebuilt Jaguar engines, V12 included, I would have to do that chain, especially given you had a new chain side by side with the old. It would just bother me that it wasn’t replaced. I hear the angles for and against, but in with the new for me. Nice work. Will be good to see the start-up. Another Australian here…
How tf did you manage to stay sane on a jag v12 rebuild😂 you got alot of talent my man
@@da_poopoo_dealer3152 ….they’re actually quite a nicely put together unit once you pull all the ancillary stuff off. I’m just pretty methodical, one step at a time, same as when you’re wiring a car up, step by step, don’t try for too much at once.
I know this guy lives somewhere close to me and I can’t wait for the day to catch him doing some crazy project. Lol
Excellent video sir. Been waiting for this one.
Awesome content man! Keep it up! Cheers from The Netherlands
Picked the wrong time to clean the engine. Should have been first thing before tearing it apart.
I thought he would have at least bolted the heads on before cleaning
"Get off my engine dude!" 😂😂
I'd have hit that fly with brake cleaner. Chemical warfare!
Good job, good video .. Learned a few things from you. Thank you
Great build. Thanks for sharing and I hope your channel continues to grow so we can see more.
You’re probably assembling the engine more carefully than the factory did.
Edit: This is a compliment, not a jab.
He also shouldn't be using scotchbrite near pistons and rings. The abrasive dust in the pad breaks off and can cause issues down between the piston and cylinder wall. Nearly impossible to clean and remove without disassembling the engine. Woof.
@@charlesgunzelman3323 Agree, I'd have stuffed each cylinder with rags before I went near them too. Probably won't do any significant damage in the long run, but it'd bother me thinking about it. I did a water pump on the weekend - never had so much trouble getting the old gasket off the block - a razor blade scraper wouldn't put a dent in it - ended up using oven cleaner, scotchbrite, and eventually even a chisel to get it all off - the chisel and loads of oven cleaner did the trick in the end. Of course that's against steel, and in a far less critical area, and the hole for the pump is pretty easy to clean up. Took me over an hour to get it back to smooth metal.
No, I don’t think so.
Wow, what a dick. Those AMG engines are hand-built by a single person who is extremely well trained and experienced. In fact, they only have 50 of them.
Don't insult the AMG engine builders due to your complete and utter ignorance.
@@rustler08 I'm sure that was true at one time - but I do wonder if it's just a marketing ploy these days. Maybe on the "real" AMG's I guess (i.e. not the CLA)
Just clicked and can tell its gonna be a good episode
I have learned so much from your awesome videos! Keep em coming...
Thanks a lot! Very useful video! This is a great motor!
It has to be an incredible feeling knowing you can just simply go out to your garage and fix or take apart any engine / car and know that its going to be great. To have that kind of knowledge , id buy every car I could afford.... love these videos , one of the best guys on You tube. Wish I had just that kind of talent.
Ultimate level detail: cleaning the pistons!
a great and informative interim report on the status of the current reconditioning of the great monster engine from Mercedes.
Have a nice Sunday and nice greetings from Karlsruhe , South West Germany
Great work! Tremendous progress and excellent video.
finally someone who cleans his engines!!! SOOO SATISFYING
14:55 How concerning is that PS whine on cold start? Just curious.
It's not power steering. It's the engine oil pump gears and all M112/M113 engines have this. Another youtube channel called "XF Motorsports" has video where he makes new gears for the oil pump to make the noise go away.
Stoked for this build!
I used to have a 2003 cl600 biturbo and I love the work you are doing on this car, I had to replace the ABC pump and water pump myself, as well as coil packs, and many other parts on this engine, but I never imagined having to take the heads off. Props to you for getting the port and polish and going this far with the wonderful m275
this engine screams for a custom exhaust! ( Pagani Zonda style )
So what’s the “day job”, most channels your size are full time?
Das wassup!
Can't wait to see this back on the road awesome job 👍👍
great show! Thanks Alex!
