I wish there was a Connor perspective song in DEH that would just be another moment the show would make me cry and I’m there for it
Hopefully they'll add one in the movie. Musical movies often add new songs. Just hopefully it's a good song and is sung by a decent singer. All too often movie musicals have pretty bad singers.
I think they originally had a Connor perspective song but cut it. I could be wrong though
@@carissaperez8924 I believe the closest is Little Bit of Light, showing more insight into Connor's past. Aside from that there isn't any song for Connor. Much less a solo song that we so desperately need him to have.
The dear Evan Hansen book shows Connors perspective as well as Evan's, and man I bawled like a baby
In the book they have parts in Connors perspective and it’s really fucking depressing
I love Connor’s perspective with this flipped narrative. Telling his sister that he understands why she’s apprehensive and doesn’t want to mourn him that he knows he’s done wrong by her and it’s kind of his way of apologising to her and it’s really sweet and sad 💙😢

@@kezziahvalentino2450 i think it's connor connor. But both Evan's Connor and the original Connor would feel bad. In the novel it goes a little more into depth, but it's almost like he refused to think of the bad memories and only listened to the good memories, like when she kept hi, train for his swim meets ect.

I dont ever comment on videos, but this needed saying. His voice and endless emotion are so wonderfully overwhelming. This is yet more proof of how beautiful music is!

What an artist! He chose when to use straight tone and vibrato to convey crying and immense emotion in the perfect parts of the song

Famous in NY has a series called "Pronoun Showdown" where they reverse the roles of the songs, usually with the person singing it being the person it's originally about, e.g. Alexander singing "Burn" from his perspective, Kathy singing "If I Didn't Believe in You" from her perspective, the princesses in Into the Woods singing "Agony", etc. This rendition is part of that series.

The part where he sings about the villains falling and no one lights a candle and being the monster they knew... It's heart breaking. It's like he is screaming how he does not deserve their love and sadness... the way he sings it... like he is blaming himself. That he is not worthy of their love.

Ok no. This is just so sad! Shows how Connor saw himself. It’s so sad. I always feel/felt bad for Connor. And just in general ppl who see themselves like this. Who kill themselves it so devastated that ppl go through stuff like this. This show is so amazing in that aspect. It shines light on the struggles kids go through. And it’s truly beautiful. I love this show so much.
This is what it sounds like when my depression starts taking over my thoughts. I never really realized it until hearing it coming from someone else, how incredibly heart breaking it sounds.

Okay so for context purposes: in the DEH book we find out Connor had actually never threatened to kill Zoe.
He also didn't understand why she had said that. Though not an antagonist, he still recognized he was a jerk to her, and felt guilty about it.
Yes, he was unstable because of his BPD, but Connor wasn't a violent person (he only ever harmed himself), he couldn't actually lay a hand on his sister.
We also find out Zoe did in fact miss Connor a lot (and has also cried for him), and she tells Evan precisely that.
So with that said, here's my reinterpretation of Connor's Requiem (Reprise):

This song hits so hard. It's like finally getting an apology and validation from a person who hurt, and hurt, and hurt you. I know I'll never get it from them, but it sooths something to hear it here.

Honestly I never cry when seeing creative pieces like this, but I did lose a tear or two because I think this resonates with a little part of everyone. Please take the 4 minutes out of you day to listen to this❤️

i wish it showed connors perspective ANYWHERE in the show, that show would be 10000000 times sader and better if it had connors perspective of things or just anything of connor. most of what we see of connor is just evans imagination trying to justify his actions saying "connor would have wanted me to do this, to keep his memory alive" But in reality connor didnt think anyone would want to keep his memory alive, he thought nobody cared and would be better off without him. After Connors death, everyone wanted to make connor be this angel and but he wasnt an angel, he was far from perfect but i feel like a song or something from his perspective would show how much he was struggling inside and how much he needed someone, the song would not justify his actions but it would help us understand him a little more.

Oh man Conner's perspective hits. Dear Evan Hansen has always been a musical in the back of my mind. I like to go back and re watch the musical every now and then.
