If Darkness Had A Son is one of my favorites from 72 Seasons, but Metallica just recently released a live version of this song (from their Paris concert 2 weeks ago) - I want to hear Room Of Mirrors, Shadows Follow and Inamorata live!

@@bencross3759 Don't mention it, Alice in Hell is a legendary album I'm still trying to recover from its awesomeness that twisted my brain the first time I've listened it (and they kick ass live either), But I'm talking about bands that could actually fill in a stadium and gather either the specialized metallheads such as you and me and the more casual metal listeners...
@@WaltuhPoliceMP I'm a huge fan of Black Sabbath, got all the albums (The ones with Ozzy, Dio, Gillan, Glen Hughes and Tony Martin), and I acknowledge with no problem that they are one of the founding bands of the heavy metal movement, but in no way they are as great as Metallica, Maiden, Judas Priest, or even Motorhead. They are the spiritual father of Doom Metal, no doubts about that, and many of their songs are classical, but they aren't S tier in my opinion. A tier, no doubts, but not on top of the pyramid. Without Sabbath, many bands wouldn't have existed, but the NWOBHM bands had a far bigger influence on the early Metallica than Sabbath, especially the Band Diamond Head.

It is amazing. AC/DC Van Halen Red Hot Chili Peppers U2 Pearl Jam Motley Crue you name it they are all amazing bands made amazing contributions but their later year efforts all go downhill. Metallica somehow managed to keep the quality so high.

Agree. As much as I like DM and Hardwired, this album is a more consistent effort and James is in the best vocal shape since the Load era.
James' singing has always been a step ahead of other bands from the same era but go and watch a modern video of Axl Rose and you'll see how much better James has gotten - timeless voice and sounds incredible still.

This is proof that the entire band playing at the same time sounds so much better than individual members laying down separate tracks and a master mixing afterwards. Record as as band, the vibe is just better.

In the last 20 years they’ve taken all the energy they put into partying in their younger years and turned it around to take care of themselves (physically AND mentally). It is really paying dividends at this stage of their career, that’s for sure. The guys look and sound great! I’ve always worried a little bit about how they would sound as they got older. I never wanted to see them on stage playing without any energy. I no longer worry about that. They’re still KICKING ASS!!

Crazy audio quality. I though this was just the studio track dubbed over new footage at first.
Man…these recorded live perfomances even sound almost better than the album. And the video footage is top notch too. What more could you ask for? Too Far Gone needs a live debut and a video, that's one of the standouts of the album for me. This new album is a masterpiece. The more you listen, the better it gets. Fucking outstanding. The riffs, the grooves, the LYRICS. This has landed at the exact right time I needed it. Metallica is, was, and will be my therapy. Thank you.

Even great bands who made many contributions go downhill in their later years. Almost all of them. AC/DC Van Halen U2 Pearl Jam Motley Crue you name it. The only ones still at the top of their game and vital after so many years is Metallica and Foo Fighters both out with great albums in 2023 and not embarrassing middle-aged albums!

One gripe I've always had is they need to vary their setlists more. I've been to maybe 6 or 7 shows and every single one has Sandman, Master, One, Nothing Else Matters, Bells, Sad But True, Seek and Destroy. Then you will get either Creeping Death or Blackened and Fuel or Memory. If they are touring on a recent release they'll throw in 3 or 4 songs from the new album so really only left with 3 or 4 songs that change. For a band that's been around for 40 years I wish their setlists were more random.
Some songs from Load/Reload I'd love to see live are Better Than You, Unforgiven II, Ain't My Bitch, King Nothing and Until It Sleeps.
