This is sooo amazing I feel the same way!! I’m a vegan chef, and next October marks 20 years for me as a volunteer Chef at FNCC (Florida Nature Culture Center). Over the past 20 years I have been able to create “The World’s First Plant Based Entertainment Co.” I now have a vegan reality TV series, and I’m currently in the process of producing a vegan plant based music project! Thank you so much Sensei! Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is the key to unlocking your highest potential

I agree with Steven. Winning over yourself is the whole point. And encouraging others to do the same.

I’m so touched by this video! Steven Sater, you struck a chord in my heart when you said that winning, to you and in Soka Buddhism, means to win over something within you that may have held you back for many years. Thank you for your heartfelt sharing!

It is good that these experiences are shared. Sharing takes courage. That courage is inspiring. Kudos to the SGI organization and membership which makes these videos possible.

I was working for a company 15 minutes from home. The company has me work to two split shifts; 9am to 1pm, and 4pm to 8pm. I was able to go home for lunch and come back for my second shift. Then suddenly, I was transferred to a location over a hour away. I was crushed. Not only could I not afford the travel expense, I could not go home for lunch and I was stuck there for eleven hours straight. I only lasted two days. On my second day, an African American woman told me she was a Buddhist. I asked which kind and she told me Japanese. I told her that when I was a kid, I remembering going to a Japanese temple and chanting. She said, "that's the one". After 15 minutes of speaking with her, I almost broke down and cried. Six days earlier, after I learned I was being transferred, I applied to approximately 15 jobs. I had a job interview the day after meeting the African American Buddhist, I chanted before my interview and got the job. She told me that it was not a coincidence that I met her and discussed Buddhism and chanting; it was meant to be, she assured me.

It's a lovely, inspired experience but gifting his award to Mr. Ikeda was terribly over the top. And I am a long-time SGI member. This sort of extremism must end. This all-consuming focus on one figure, no matter how noble, is patently unhealthy. It's relieving that Mr. Ikeda had the presence of mind and compassion not to accept the award, thus giving the matter a grounded and sane conclusion.
