This is by far the BEST of these non-enclosed day/weekend boats. Most are so open to the environments that I wouldn't want to spend more than a few hours on them. This one is perfectly balanced. And the layout is so useful. That rear cabin is so cozy and bright. And the price is amazing. Honestly, never wanted one that wasn't enclosed until I saw this one.
Sailing now a 320 GTO with big respect and joy for all the nice and thought through solutions, this one is a little disappointing. It seems to be developed in a rush. For a 40 footer it will be challenging to berth and to anchor at least in the med since there is no walk around possibility. Access to bow and stern seems only possible on port side through the half enclosed cabin. This will cause stress. The mid cabin is totally useless even just for storage, as the access is very narrow. Saxdor won me as a customer and I hoped to stay with them for the next upgrade. Hopefully there will be at least some other layout options for the deck (similar to GTC).
Not being a full-on walk-around does NOT make it "challenging to berth" unless you're totally inept and practically an invalid. The mid cabin is also absolutely NOT totally useless as a berth or as storage. Absolutely ridiculous claims.
In the Med, where we're moored with anchor lines in most marinas, a walk-around layout is the only practical solution. Having to drag a dirty, wet anchor robe that has been sitting on the seabed, all over your boat - as I do today - is a real hassle and a no-go for my next boat
I can only agree. The 320 is such a great boat that the expectations for the 400 went through the roof - and it‘s just not as magnificent as the 320 is. It will be interesting to see how the 320 will compete now that it went from 123k to 153k ex VAT. I think they added twin outboards so maybe it‘s not all inflation… 😉
If you are singlehanded, maybe. But if you have someone with you, enter the slip with your bow, grab the line, reverse out, attach the line to the bow, turn the boat 180 degrees, reverse and tie the stern lines.
Is it just me or does this make the Brabus Shadow XC900 seem astonishingly expensive?? With the 400's losing 50hp pr engine and the red / black colour scheme but with the 400 GTO, noticeably more space and a much more 'complete' boat for as far as I can see a huuuge discount on the price. Nice work Saxdor.
I would be glad if someone who knows could answer. 8:17, what I understand from the metal under the table, the table can be lowered. Is the purpose of this to lower it to the same level as the seats and put a bed on top? So creating an additional small bed? Or something else ?
I still don’t get the point of glass in the drop bridge if it doesn’t provide a horizontal view from within the cockpit when up. Is dank murky water just a few centimetres below you really that attractive to look at when on the drop bridge?
Wow very interesting design and lay out with this one , I’m very impressed .. I was looking @ the evo R4 a long time and this just blew my mind away very good ship
Very interesting and exciting, boat. Love the big drop down sides and all the transformer seats. Glad to see the integrated isinglass, why is this not standard all all boats that would benefit from it. At the very least, storage of the panels is taken care of. The mid and aft cabins are ideal, in my opinion. They give you optons. Clearly, on this style boat, they are great storage, but somewhere to stash guests. If you were to put a child into the mid cabin and lower the steps, it seems it would act as a decent barrier to wondering kids at night. Lots of potential, love to see the production boats.
I've been boating in the Mediterranean, Caribbean & Florida for more than 40 years and this boat's innovative ideas are a breath of fresh air in the utilisation of its living spaces. Remember that most boats spend 80 - 90% of their time at anchor and thus how owners and family can use their mobile picnic space is IMO more important than a 40 or 50 knot, seldome used, top speed. Three comments immediatly come to mind....at 12.4 meters this boat requires, in many Mediterranean Marinas, a 15.0 meter berth which in my local marina is €19,071 / year MORE than a 12.0m berth !! Please remove the cleats from those already very small bathing platfoms....very dangerours for children! Does the standard boat have a standard anchor winch rather than the highly complicated hidden system? Cant wait to see this boat the Palma Boat Show next spring.
The price is most palatable. Not yet a fan of all these outboards as of late, but this looks good. It has some cool design features that help magnify the small space. 👍🏽
Absolutely love this boat! I would like to see the sides close with huge sliding windows to almost make it as open as it is right now. Also i would like to see full standing head room in the head.
Really good review, thanks. You mentioned air conditioning, so is there a generator, or is it optional? Also a seakeeper gyro, for when anchored? Very Impressive boat for the price! 👍
I love this boat but i noticed a few potential issues that would be an issue but are minor fixes or additions that will solve it. The hatch in the cabin opening to the bow would need a canvass/ fly screen if one want to leave it open so as to not have it fill up with bugs and mosquitoes. The other thing that bothers me is the windshield wiper arm that protrudes a bit over the windshield that is in the forward windscreen hatch which could possible cause a serious injury. Then the last one is those steps into the cabin that fold which is fine but will definitely need some sort of way to be secured in the down position when underway otherwise i see them pounding the floor every time the boat goes over a wave which will lead to damage in a very short space of time. Other than that Im blown away by the boat. Would be nice to see a option for a different seating arrangement other than the lounge type as it is currently
While the price and features are absolutely phenomenal i see two problems with its design: 1) if you have guests staying in the rear cabin and they need to use the toilet at night they will need to wake up the owners. They should've found a way to partition the forward cabin to keep privacy. Makes no sense otherwise to have guests sleep over. 2) it seems that forward cabin's bed has very little head room, actually less than in the rear cabin, unless you sleep in reverse, but who wants to sleep without a headboard? I don't know, feels very claustrophobic, like doing an MRI scan. IMHO they should've forgone the front table area (there's already plenty of table space in the cockpit) and go instead with a large lounge bed with cup holders on the sides. this way they could've kept the owners cabin with decent head room and a normal way to sleep in it on that bed. just my 2 cents. The rest i wouldn't change a thing. just perfect
Amazing what they all put in there.. and the price 😮😮 finally a boat worth every penny and more. Now make one with a beam of 1,5m extra and 3m longer the same way and I'm buying it. 🎉 Good job.
Loving this new offering from Saxdor. Only slight query is whether you would actually use a second wet bar at the stern but clever thinking nevertheless
Nice boat for the money. Only complaints are the cabin stairs are ridiculous. Sunroof is too small. Access to mid cabin is a big drawback unless you are sticking kids in there. Pull out plastic enclosure will be ugly when deployed. Should have made fold up glass windows.
Interesting boat with a bit More twicking to do. The mid cabin access needs sorting out. I yhink ots yrying yo hard to be the flagship of the range cramming extras in. But yhe potential is there
I am very impressed by the layout and quality of the finish off everything, I have owned 4 Axopar's up to now, but must admit they are nowhere near as good. I will definitely come and have a look at the range at the Palma Boat show.
Good quality build Poland's doing some great stuff in tech and industry not to mention the government doesn't fold to s.j.w. in definitely gonna visit Poland
Nicely done Video, if they keep the prices like this, I'm sure they'll be successful, more successful. Axopar, and the dealers seem to be getting a bit arrogant and carried away with themselves.
What a clever, innovative design. I'm pretty sure the manufacturers of the bigger boats will incorporate some of the designs. I've always wondered why boats have a walkway around to the front on both sides when the boat could be wider and they could go through a door at the front. I'm sure there is a reason for that. I've never owned a boat so I might be naive.
This boat looks amazing, however I see what looks like an obvious issue. How do you dock this in the Med, where it is quite common to have the underwater rope that you have to drag around the boat to the bow? We're talking about a rope that sits the majority of the time in the sea bed, full of slime and barnacles. You don't want something like that going inside your boat at all. This boat (and the GTC version itself which is the version that would interest me the most) has no walkaround possibilities at all. Not even a handrail along the roof, so you could walk along the top of the outside walls of the boat. Happy to be shown how they resolve it, but I don't see it at the moment.
If you are singlehanded, maybe. But if you have someone with you, enter the slip with your bow, grab the line, reverse out, attach the line to the bow, turn the boat 180 degrees, reverse and tie the stern lines.

FINALLY! Jeeeeeeeeze I had to wait so long for a proper tour of this long awaited boat!
Sorry to keep you waiting for almost a full 2 weeks after it was launched 😉
I love that boat! Affordable and stylish!

I tend to agree, I though exactly the same while watching the video

Galeon Yacht rip of ( love it)
Love this boat… very clever and flexible. Hugo, your reviews are always excellent, authoritative with a capital A, as are Alex’s. Great channel!
Thanks Andrew, that means a lot. Much appreciated!

In the 400 GTC, the table lowers and enables you to get a bed with that arrangement. I guess it's the same in the GTO.
My favorite host with the new boat of my favorite boatmanufacturer.😀 Thanks for this neat tour.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Very flexible layout. First time watching your video tours. Excellent! Thanks Dave
The 400 is clearly a bargain yacht. It's value is very refreshing compared to most other yachts with high sticker prices. 👍
Yeah what a bargain a quarter million lol ! I wish just go out to my money tree and buy two or i will get my butler Jeeves to fetch it lmao.
Great review of this very interesting boat with lots of clever ideas

AWESOME lookin boat!!
Wow very interesting design and lay out with this one , I’m very impressed ..

How can they build this for this price! What am I missing? Is quality compromised?

Great review for a great boat. But what is the range of the boat?
The price is most palatable. Not yet a fan of all these outboards as of late, but this looks good. It has some cool design features that help magnify the small space. 👍🏽
Can you get glass auto electric sides rather than the plastic?
What a clever boat! And under 300'000 euros it's a very good value for money.
Absolutely love this boat! I would like to see the sides close with huge sliding windows to almost make it as open as it is right now. Also i would like to see full standing head room in the head.
wha t sort of clearance does it have below the waterline, will it be restrictive for inland waterways if needed?
2-3 feet at most as you can always tilt the outboards up
Good boat and excellent price
Really good review, thanks.

How is the head room under the top?
I don’t know exactly but I am 6ft 1in tall and it felt high enough not to be an issue for someone usefully taller than me.
18:23 Nice "Harry Potter" berth!
How many liters for a mile at cruising speed?
Loving this new offering from Saxdor. Only slight query is whether you would actually use a second wet bar at the stern but clever thinking nevertheless
Looking very nice there. ☺
that is a good price for that boat.... a really good price...
Nice boat for the money. Only complaints are the cabin stairs are ridiculous. Sunroof is too small. Access to mid cabin is a big drawback unless you are sticking kids in there. Pull out plastic enclosure will be ugly when deployed. Should have made fold up glass windows.
about how much?
Good value for money and interesting to compare with the Cap Cammerate alongside, with just one drop down balcony.
I'm in love ❤

They took the idea for side curtains from Marex, I guess. But very nice. It's the best solution. All boats should do that.
A million people can have the same idea at the same time and nobody “taking the idea” from someone else.
@@HarryShagnasty-sc9zd well, I didn't write, that they stole it. I have nothing against all boats doing this side curtain solution. It's very good.
I wish it prioritized range over speed. The 400gtc is too comfortable to need to be on it a couple of hours before the need to refuel,
The way the headeoom disapears in the fore cabin is a killer (just raise the bow a little). Still, it is an impressive boat for the price.
Nicely done Video, if they keep the prices like this, I'm sure they'll be successful, more successful. Axopar, and the dealers seem to be getting a bit arrogant and carried away with themselves.
Is there a place to put a gyro stabilizer?
It will cost at least another 100k to drive this away including VAT, commissioning, nav suite, wet head equipment, and some seats and bolsters
Compared to the axopar 45 which is 700k w tax not to bad
It's like a Swiss nife of tenders.
Very good tour and, in this case, the employees if the stand help you!

Guess you’d have to loop the slime line over the side cleat then once in the bow use a boat hook to pick it up from the water further forward.
Bravo! This is exactly the point. The handling of the auxiliar lines in the Med will be a pita…
If you are singlehanded, maybe. But if you have someone with you, enter the slip with your bow, grab the line, reverse out, attach the line to the bow, turn the boat 180 degrees, reverse and tie the stern lines.
I'll take it, soon as I sell my house, in this market....
Just start a pharma company and go into business together with some politician and spy friends, then you can buy all the boats you want!
I'd buy one but my hours at Walmart got cut back.
I’m a bit disappointed they couldn’t fit in an enclosed shower. Beneteu managed to put one in a 32 footer…
In usa thats 500k at least how can i bring one over usa
I WANT IT !!!!!! If they make it with hard sides all the way around... my only gripe about it.
Was looking forward to this. Really disappointed with the accommodation.
Yes i dont believe the price 😊
seen this bouat yesterday aft Genova Fair, completely different, not so good as it seemas. my opinion
Why? Quality?layout?
@@MrRushx probably my expectation were to high, in live everythings seems small, the sunbed is tiny
The sunbed was in extended position?

Not in usa
