    Hello! I followed this tutorial about a few months ago. I am though from the states, but I used this to my Exchange to Italy. It was very helpful, I had an amazing time in Italy and was very surprised that Italian High School students speak a genuine amount of English. Not sure if they were forced to because I was coming or what but it was a huge shock to have multiple people coming up to me speaking better English than me.
    But all in all, I had a so so amazing time. I during my trip, met a very amazing Host Family I still contact with them about weekly checking up on them and their younger son. (5 years younger than I am) But, I made an amazing choice doing this in High School, I had always planned doing this in College but my school teachers pointed out High School was a statically better option I am so happy I listened to them.
    I met amazing friends that I still contact, and actually found a little love it couldn't go far because of the Program Rules I had to follow but about 3 or some weeks ago I had a 5 day meet up with them on Spring Vacation. It was highly worth it, and she is an amazing influence on my personality and over character.
    Sorry but I had to talk about that, it just shows who and what can happen during this "Long Time" you are gone, its really sadly not that long. I wish I could be there still.
    But for those who wants to learn, the hardest times were the first week or so. During that time it was still considered summer so I didn't attend school, it as kinda like a time where you would get a good sleep schedule, learn more about your host family, and the environment. Now this was hard because I couldn't find anyone to just have a genuine talk with someone of my age. Now you may think talking to someone your age doesn't do anything with your mental health... trust me it really really does.
    But the best parts were honestly school, once again a shocking amount of English speakers and don't expect this to happen. I highly enjoyed talking to people my age, learning about their culture, making friends, and etc. Now I am going to be honest, it was hard to find a "Good" friend, because everyone was all over me because I was a "Foreigner". Completely understandable, for obvious reasons. Now please once again, do not expect this, but the women their were amazing, kind, and well very begging. Some of the students there genuinely wanted to know me as a friend, lover. Now to clarify, I was not looking / wanting to get a relationship abroad, for a multiple of reasons. One, long distance it sucks and well you know, two its not the same as real life, and 3 if you are truly in love you want to meet them more and more which is so so difficult. But anyway, it still happened I tried to follow all the rules, which I did I did not have any intimate relationships (thankfully) but I did have a lover for about 3 months till it all ended.
    But overall it changed my life, helped me increase high school credits, mature, and I am definitely more educated than I could be. I highly recommend going Freshmen year, and sophomore year BUT STAY JUNIOR YEAR if you want to go to college in your home country (specifically to the Americans reading this) and do what you want on your Senior year.
    But I thank you for this video, as it prepared me physically, mentally, and many many more ways.

    This is probably a really weird question, but is it ok to go on an exchange somewhere that speaks your primary language? I don't have anything against learning a new language, but my top places just ended up also speaking english 😅

    • @DailaCarisa
      @DailaCarisa  Год назад +4

      Heyy Lucy it’s not a weird question at all! I think it is totally fine to spend your exchange year in a country where you already speak their primary language. I actually had people from the US attending my college in NZ. Depending on where you go, the culture can still be very different to your home country. And the whole experience of living abroad in a host family, attending school and going through everything else that comes with such an exchange, is still new to you. In my opinion you can still learn and grow so much, even if you already speak their primary language!🥰

      Some of the clothes that you bring you will outgrow or wear out. Or you won't mind leaving behind. But you're likely to buy a lot or be given as gifts. It may be cheaper to mail things home or get an extra bag to take more stuff home. Try not to acquire many heavy or bulky things.
