I definitely didn’t bring enough clothes (I filled up the whole 23kg) and the only things I haven’t worn yet were summer dresses and shorts cuz it’s cold. Now I’m crazy looking for cheap and good clothes and it’s so hard.
For me the worst parts so far have been waiting to my flights in the airport, I was completely alone, no exchange students were w me. I got super bored and started regretting it. My tip is just keep busy at all times so ur not gonna be homesick.
And YOU HAVE TO TALK FIRST otherwise no one that isn’t an exchange student will talk to you.
Im flying to the Us for an exchange year tomorrow and it just feels surreal to be away from home for such a long time these videos help me to prepare my self for the upcoming time ty

i just applied for an exchange program for U.S.A and although i dont know whether ill be accepted or not yet but this eased my anxiety for now. For context, if i do leave there ill be on a 20 hour flight… so that will be interesting. Thank you for posting this!

Das Video hat mich sehr an meine Zeit in Montana erinnert, damals (siebziger Jahre) noch ohne Handy und telefonieren war viel zu teuer. Aber inhaltlich gebe ich Dir in allen Punkten recht. Und ich finde, man hört auch an der Art und Weise, wie Du erzählst, dass Dir die Zeit viel gebracht hat.

I’m literally going in a week and I’m absolutely questioning my life decisions. I’ll go to France, hence I’m kind of afraid of language barriers especially because I already have problems with conversations in my language 🙃
my nana went to the netherlands once when she was 17 and she still speaks french, dutch, and finnish to this day despite not knowing any of it before she went. as long as you want to learn it you'll pick up on it easier than you think.

I’m going next year that means on 2025 so I’m Kind of scared but when I told my sister and

And I’m also scared because there’s grades difference between USA and Saudi Arabia that means when I’m going to USA they will be in the 11th grade but I will be in 10th grade that means I’m going to be younger than my classmates

I get that but most people don’t get their placement until like june or even later than that. I got mine may 11th so you have time left. But I get why you‘re nervous. Just don’t try to think about it too much:) also thanks i‘m glad you like my videos!🫶🏼

why did you have to change your host family?
im applying to go abroad for a year over 23 and 24 but i'm nervous about how to pick where i should go? i have plenty options for the us but i'm mostly keen on australia and canada. how did you know where to pick? im confident in doing a full year rather than half but im worried ill struggle to settle in
I’ve always known that I wanted to go to the US but honestly, you should just trust your gut feeling on where to go. Maybe try to make a pro and contra list about every country.. I’m positive that you’ll have a great year, even if something doesn’t work out like you want it to, you’ll definitely learn and grow so much from it.
I am applying with rotary, but I will not know what country I will go to till I'm committed (the organization chooses) and that's kind of scaring me.
I get that but it’s still a great learning experience no matter where you go. It might help to make a list for things you think are great about each country so you’re excited for each one. Idk if that helps. What country are these?
I'm applying to rotary this year as well, and Im mostly nervous for how competitive it is😅 I wish you all luck! If it eases your mind at all, most districts will let you pick you top three/five countries and ask you if there are any that you just don't want to go to. Also if you want to know what countries your district exchanges with in advanced, you should TOTALLY email your district chairman. That's what I did, and he was sooo helpful👍
I really want to do an exchange year and I might sound dumb asking this but do you have to go somewheres that speaks a diffrent language. Like in my home country I speak English can I go to a different country like that speaks English or do I have to go somewhere that speaks a diffrent language?
I don’t think you have to! Because you can still learn a lot in other aspects. Where are you thinking of going?:)

Thank you I really appreciate it. It depends on your school, so you should definitely talk to them. I for example had to repeat a year but there are some schools that allow you to skip a year. Hope I was able to help.

Hi! When is yearbook season? Is it all year or just one semester? Not really a sports person haha
At my school it was a class that went the whole year because you’ll be taking pictures and working on the book the whole year as it get’s distributed at the end of the school year. But I think it depends on the school.
One thing I'm worried about is not to loose luggage at airport 😅

did you work in America for extra money??
no sadly with the visa (J1) you are not able to work because you are going for school. If you want to work there for example as an aupair you would get another visa.
You can do little gigs like washing cars or cut lawns for money
