I got back from my exchange year in Germany around five months ago. This literally summarizes exactly how I've been feeling. It feels like it was a dream and never happened, but it actually did. It's crazy. It's been rough to try to get used to America again, but it's slowly getting better. This video is exactly how it feels to return to your home country!!
thank you for this video, you hit the point when you said that nobody can relate to your experience except for other exchange students. I came back to Germany this summer after a year in Canada and felt about the same as you
I came back to my home country yesterday from Texas and it is like you said probably the hardest thing i had to experience in my life. I’m trying to move on but it is so hard to go back to a life that’s not yours anymore. 💔you’re video really helped me realize I’m not alone in this situation, thank you 🙏🏼
Tsym for this video, I just came back from my exchange semester in Germany and it is so difficult to process everything rn. I'm relieved that I'm not the only one to feel this way
Really good and truthful video....a "MUST" see video for all exchange students. Ever thought about writing a book...or a screenplay about your experiences?
I’m at the first month of exchange year in Germany (I’m from Italy), and I’m already thinking about when the life that I will have built here will be gone…. and I’m also afraid of not being able to realise that I’m just not living a dream… but I want to be positive ☺️🙏🏽😭
Hey, great video. I’m an exchange student right now at UPenn. I live in Mexico and school here is so much better, I have met so many people, and feel much more alive than I did in my home university (it sucks, honestly). Rn I’m thinking of extending my exchange period, but I would need to pay for next semester’s tuition (I’m currently paying my home university’s tuition which is much less expensive). I fortunately can pay for the semester, but I do not know if it’s worth it (I won’t be getting a degree here) I have to decide and I am so anxious. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance
Hello! I think that you should extend your exchange period, because if you’re able to pay for the tuition I definitely think you should, because it seems to make you really happy and it’s a great college where you’re getting a lot of experience that’s going to look good on your resume even if you don’t get a degree. I payed for my whole exchange year as well even though I didn’t get a degree and it was the best decision of my life and has been beneficial for my life afterwards as well.
yeah I’ve heard a lot of nightmare stories about them as well. unfortunately I think it’s just all about luck and I bet every company has negative parts too.
@@aliciafuchstrantidis so good, I'm also traveling exchange, about 2 months left, I'm confuse between coming back home and extend the period, can you suggest me?
@@aliciafuchstrantidis about the furture, the semester in the country home university, the graduate and other plans, I think come back home and prepare for a comeback in the furture is more reasonable :)))
The hardest part for me about returning home was that nobody had any idea what I experienced and largely nobody really cares.
true. I hope you were able to find other exchange students that could relate to what you experienced too, it really helped me.
because u have experience that not all everyone have :)))

would you suggest going with EF, if yes then how much did yours cost if you dont mind me asking?
hii, yes I definitely recommend them! they are always there for you and have many years of experience. expect the program fee to be over 10 000 euro

Jag förstår dig helt, det kommer bli svårt men du kommer klara det!!
Did you retake your school year after the exchange? That’s something I’m really scared for
Yes I did! It was totally fine, nothing to be afraid of:)
@@aliciafuchstrantidis but is it like that for every exchange student or only when u choose easy subjects?
It depends on your country!
Which organization did you go to the us with? :)
EF and personally I had a great experience with them!

how you do to maintain your relationship with your international friends?
Hi! To be honest I’m not the best at it, but I keep up with them through social media and sometimes FaceTime

I would extend the period if I was you but I obviously don’t know your situation so do what feels right for you:)
