as a drummer myself, i totally understand the immense work that went into him gaining the speed and accuracy that Lyle has. He is truly an amazing drummer!! Not to mention he's my FAVORITE DRUMMER!!! And the faceless are my favorite band!!!!!! double bonus for me!!!!
Congrats. this song is perfect guys, the combination with the clean voice is so fucking great, the drummer's techniques making the sound more and more powerfull. You Rox guys!!!
@drummermike1 this is just kick trigger, no mics. Alesis DM5 set to reggae pitched down -2 on note 36c1 EQd at the sound board like -6 db @ 160hz and like +3db at around 3-6k
These guys are amazing. i just cant stand knowing that the years and dedication these guys have put into the band and there instruments and somehow they make 1/8 of pop stars lol. makes me question society these days.
Fucking true. Along with the guitars and even bass. People who dont listen to this kind of music say that you dont have to have any talent to play it. They are completely oblivious to anything.
Another thing to keep in mind.. lol, the volume this was at was good from an audience perspective. If you have them too loud you can get feedback or lots of other background noises you don't want. This was taken from a sound board were the sound guy was hearing it from an audience point of view the fact we're able to even get to hear audio that doesn't sound like it was from a potato with a great quality video to match is amazing.
@ZippyDooFU The only think i know is that his kick trigger module is a DM5 and he uses the raggae setting pitched down 2 notches. I use the same settings on mine.
@TWANSONFOH do it do it do it i watch this video EVERY DAY since its been put up. as well as the others from jena...the sound is amazing...its better than the preproduction recording!
@Metalwurst666 I'm well aware that auto tuning is mainly a studio tool, but it certainly is usable in live performance. With what I'm hearing I'm leaning more towards there being no tuning, but a few notes sounded like perhaps Keene had some slight live pitch correction or something as a safety net. Mikael Keene certainly can sing, but it does sound like he has a sort of frail shaky voice here, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were going with the safety net thing.
Take into consideration that it is an open venue and the bass drums are triggered and the mics on the drums are within an inch from the head. Cymbals of course using over head/condensor mics the sound can get lost in a big open venue like that as bodies absorb sound and it's no recording room by any means.
@snowblind9561 wrong; pestilence, coldly calculated design and planetary duality II have clean vocals. also xenochrist, the ancient covenant and prison born have distorted clean vocals. thats all i know off the top of my head could be more
@blister 1324 - Steve jones was on stage shredding his face off, I was doing sound, and yes this is the new vocalist Jeff. You sir, are a true gentleman- I appreciate the compliments. Maybe I will post the audio of this whole show. I actually have I-phone 4 video of the whole show from front of house. Vote me post whole show with this audio but a lessor quality vid???
@snowblind9561 yeah exactly they did seem distorted in a way, but yeah that makes sense. AND THE FACELESS ARE TOTAL BADASSES!!!! x) BEST BAND EVER!!! ALSO GREATEST DRUMMER EVER!!!!
Well, he absolutely hits lightly =P He uses heel toe. Drummers that use that technique usually have their bass drum packed full of stuff and the head tightened up to allow as much rebound as possible. The best way to get a click sound out of your bass drum is to apply a plastic patch and a wood beater. Jon Karel doesn't use triggers and gets an amazing sound from his bass drum, he also doesn't heel toe and is just as fast. Not to mention Shannon from TBDM, but he uses triggers. =[
the sound will be recorded thru the mixing desk , so you hear whats mic'ed up.... wheres the crowd hear the mix of the bare drumkit and the amp'ed/mic'ed sound . I know he'll be triggering a blend of real and sampled kick , just wondering if snare is done the same
People complaining about other genre`s being more popular and how little bands in metal make, if you care so much, buy the albums, buy merch, go to concerts and tell other people about the music you like instead of hiding behind your computers.
@alemutasa Both are good at the kind of music they write/play, Cooper for the death metalish stuff, Matt for metalcore, now of course its your preference of the kind of metal you listen to, but dont belittle Matt's talent simply because Cooper can play it faster
@iDrinkJ4ck and did it occur to you i didn't see the video? ROFL there's quite a number of drum cam videos i dont watch every single one of'em you genious.
@snowblind9561 yeah not to say your wrong or anything but you are wrong. They did you clean vocals in akeldama, (not much) but they did. And I'm not saying they used a lot in planetary duality but in several of the songs there are tiny snipits of Keene using clean vocals. Just saying you need to pay a little attention. :)
Here is what this band has that others in this genre don't,real advanced harmony.I don't know if the chorus sounds "whiny" to anyone but that melody has some really good chord changes behind it.
I no longer stand by my comment I made months ago lol That being said I heard them play Eidolon Reality and Deconsecrate live at Summer Slaughter and it blew my fucking mind. I take back everything I said about the singing and welcome it with open arms! Also I met Michael Keene, Evan Brewer and Geoff Ficco and those guys are all really awesome!
agreed. there would not be prog metal if there was no pink floyd , just go listen to between the buried and me, wich is without a doubt the greatest prog metal band EVER.
@Metalwurst666 I'm not even that bothered by it anyway. Especially considering its The Faceless I definitely agree that achieving the sound they want is fine. I'm all for that. I love their use of vocoders etc and I'd be surprised if they didn't ever pitch correct the clean vocals in the studio. was just a sudden thing to hear those few notes pop out sounding like they were straight from the latest T-Pain track or some shit Now if it were bruce from iron maiden using it live, different story.
@TWANSONFOH Yeah, you can definetly hear the "trigger" sound before the song starts when he is just checking his equipment. Is the trigger through his pedals or are they external rim clip ons?
wait... so lyle cooper is still in the band? i thought marco replaced him? SO glad to see that lyle will still be with the faceless. marco is great, beat at death metal, nowhere NEAR lyle.
The more i listen to The Faceless, the more i want to listen to The Faceless.
They are super technical but it lacks everything else
@@jeremyhill9583 you lack everything else
@@jeremyhill9583 you must not have ears
@@jeremyhill9583You are entitled to your wrong opinion…
the technicality of his drumming is astounding. one of the best drummers in the world, and most definitely in metal music.
god damn his live vocals are sooo good
damn, very enjoying Lyle !!!
Beyond The Eidolon Reality... binding me... connection unfold...
Lyle is still one of my favorite modern metal drummers. His speed and precision is god-like.
Holy shit to both the drumming and the fucking killer video/audio quality!!
as a drummer myself, i totally understand the immense work that went into him gaining the speed and accuracy that Lyle has. He is truly an amazing drummer!! Not to mention he's my FAVORITE DRUMMER!!! And the faceless are my favorite band!!!!!! double bonus for me!!!!
I personally love when drummers look so relaxed and poised no matter how intense the parts get. Dig it!
His blasting style looks so stiff yet so loose and chunky at the same time, I love it...
I can't tell you how many times I watched this video. Lyle C. is amazing on the drums, and I love how he uses every cymbal and tom in every song.
awesome drummer.
Eyes closed = maximum groove
Btw both of the drummers are good, can you just, guys, stop comparing these two ?
Inquisition no, this one is better
both? Chason Westmoreland is as good as both.
the one footed blast @ 1:00 blows my mind all da damn time X_X
You KILLED it with the audio. Best live recording I think i have ever heard from a live metal show. Good job
This guy is flawless
6 years later, hahahaha i get it nice one bro
That drum kit sounds incredible, the guitars are clear and the vocals are just fucking brilliant, i love all these drum cam vids :P
whoever recorded the sound on this should convince the band of letting him produce a live dvd with this band for sure.
This is just pure perfection in my eyes
This is just incredible!!
Very good sound, good job.
thank you so much
for this film !
Thank you, Jena.
Omg... 3:14-3:51 was one of the best solos I've heard in a while. Truly outstanding.
Congrats. this song is perfect guys, the combination with the clean voice is so fucking great, the drummer's techniques making the sound more and more powerfull.
You Rox guys!!!
I guess we can safely say this guy masters his instrument
dude you are an amazing sound guy, perfect for this amazing band
@drummermike1 this is just kick trigger, no mics. Alesis DM5 set to reggae pitched down -2 on note 36c1 EQd at the sound board like -6 db @ 160hz and like +3db at around 3-6k
I like the preproduction version of this song more than the album. It sounds WAY better. I dont like the changes they put on the real album version.
I cant wait for the new album!!!!!!!!!!! GODDAMN!
I saw them on this tour!
Beyond the eidolon reality, blinding me, a connection unfolds,
they sound so good live :D
dude is one of the best drummers out ha
God damn it, I can't wait for this album to come out.
I love this band.
Unbelievable drumming. Seriously
These guys are amazing. i just cant stand knowing that the years and dedication these guys have put into the band and there instruments and somehow they make 1/8 of pop stars lol. makes me question society these days.
When I wrote this comment I was so upset with the new vocals, now I have come to love them, I guess they really grew on me.
Fucking true. Along with the guitars and even bass. People who dont listen to this kind of music say that you dont have to have any talent to play it. They are completely oblivious to anything.

Hands down one of the greatest metal drummers in the world (my fave) :) next to George kollias from nile and Trey Williams from dying fetus
@drummermikerocks1 Exactly, even if there is tiny "snipits" of clean vocals the band still has been using them since Akeldama.
I see a lot of commando in his blast beats
Amazing drummer right here
awesome!
damn I can't wait for there new album
@TWANSONFOH do it do it do it i watch this video EVERY DAY since its been put up. as well as the others from jena...the sound is amazing...its better than the preproduction recording!
I agree the cleans are great and the new singer is even better.
yeah I know, I still want to see high quality drumcams from the new album :)
@Metalwurst666 I'm well aware that auto tuning is mainly a studio tool, but it certainly is usable in live performance. That's the look of pure focus...

you have to do this for all the new songs!
Damn that posture......
Not yet. It comes out pretty soon though. I buy all of my favorite bands albums. If I'm discovering a band, I'll download them on Utorrent.
alex is good drummer in several genre but lyle is most creative drummer in technical death metal and a little faster than alex
everything started when this tour is over... RIP the faceless
@slipknotmeep it's mindblowing, i can't get over how great that is.
1:52 luv that drumming part is fucking awesome
@snowblind9561 wrong; pestilence, coldly calculated design and planetary duality II have clean vocals. also xenochrist, the ancient covenant and prison born have distorted clean vocals. thats all i know off the top of my head could be more
Flawless victory!
BEYOND THE IDOL OF REALITYYYYY, DRIVING MEEEE... EIDOLONNNN. A CONECTIONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN UNFOLLLDSSSSS
@blister 1324 - Steve jones was on stage shredding his face off, I was doing sound, and yes this is the new vocalist Jeff. You sir, are a true gentleman- I appreciate the compliments. @VBTpowVio The Faceless has been using clean vocals since Akeldama
Come to Ecuador!
@snowblind9561 yeah exactly they did seem distorted in a way, but yeah that makes sense. AND THE FACELESS ARE TOTAL BADASSES!!!! x) BEST BAND EVER!!! ALSO GREATEST DRUMMER EVER!!!!

the audio are from the mix at the show and they did not use cymbal mics!
I cant wait to see them in SA!!! lyle is getting me in free!! efff yes!!!!!
Have your heard the album? there is lots of Rush and Pink Floyd influences sprinkled throughout when it comes to progression and atmosphere.
this is fucking amazing.
sick !
I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH WHAT YOU'RE SAYING AND ALSO LIKE TO UTILIZE THE CAPSLOCK KEY
Well said.
the sound will be recorded thru the mixing desk , so you hear whats mic'ed up.... wheres the crowd hear the mix of the bare drumkit and the amp'ed/mic'ed sound .
I know he'll be triggering a blend of real and sampled kick , just wondering if snare is done the same
It must be awesome being this guy watching this video going yeah... I kick ass.
People complaining about other genre`s being more popular and how little bands in metal make, if you care so much, buy the albums, buy merch, go to concerts and tell other people about the music you like instead of hiding behind your computers.
Like a boss!!
Download them man, amazing band, like a metal Pink Floyd
I wanna see a video of Lyle just playing some grooves. Not a solo but a little jam session of his own.
@popeye2mil theyre not using pitch correction. hes just trying to be steven wilson.
@Mortarion6666 It's Geoff really, the guy spelled it wrong, doesn't really matter tho.
@thedrumbum17 hell yea.
@snowblind9561 yeah not to say your wrong or anything but you are wrong. They did you clean vocals in akeldama, (not much) but they did. 0:33 one-footed blast ftw :D
@TWANSONFOH Yeah, you can definetly hear the "trigger" sound before the song starts when he is just checking his equipment. Is the trigger through his pedals or are they external rim clip ons?
Because it has space in the flow of the music. In my opinion Chelse a Grin's sounds very force. Like it doesn't have space.
wait... so lyle cooper is still in the band? i thought marco replaced him? SO glad to see that lyle will still be with the faceless. marco is great, beat at death metal, nowhere NEAR lyle.
Keene hands is the best song writer in Morden metal.
AHAHH His face expressions from 0:32 to 0:40 . priceless .
Lyle is the master...when in Portugal?
@Metalwurst666 Do you know what the signal chain was for the clean vocals during this show?
