This is the most amazing improvement, thanks for pointing us in the right direction here. No more hours of painstakingly tracing images by hand. Yes, gradients are translated (PERFECTLY) into several steps, but that's not a big loss. And the work-around with compressing the SVG is golden...
Great to hear!
I fu...ing love you Stacking Profit!!! I was researching this problem last few days and couldn't find a solution! Thank you so much for sharing !!!!!!!! You have un-frustrated my life :) :) :)
No problem :)
Well done! Paddy, I came across vectorizer and I was stuck on the Canva upload issue, thank you for the work around and the Tip. This year year, there is so many opportunities. Keep up with the LCB vault, great informative content. Top G
Glad to help and thanks :)
Another wow. Thanks for helping me understand ectors and these cool tools.
you're welcome :)
Great video! I wish I would have saw it yesterday. I just published a coloring book using images from Midjourney and some of them have weird lines. For example, one image is of a sunset on a beach and there is a bunch of zig-zag lines in the sky. I wasn't sure how to remove them so I just left them. At least now I know how to edit my images for my next coloring book.
You can always update your interior
I'm glad you found the video helpful. I'm sorry to hear about the weird lines in your coloring book and happy to hear that you now know how to edit your images for your next project.
If you look closely at the bedpost on the far left you’ll notice that there’s a gap (missing line). Probably a good idea to check that all the line art is accurate before publishing. 😉
that would be a good idea
I used Inkscape to vectorize and upscale some of my coloring page images to a high DPI for printing to try and make things as smooth as possible. However, in my final product angled lines are still pretty "jagged". I'm not sure what the trick is I'm missing. I also tried creating my PDFs with the DPI set to 300 to try and avoid KDP doing their own downscaling at the time of printing if my DPI was too high.
Large font text is of course perfectly smooth and you can't see any sort of pixelation on the edges at all. I almost wish I could upload a KDP manuscript with embedded SVGs to print as smooth as the actual fonts do.
Lo and behold. LibreOffice Writer (which I've been using for my interiors) actually does let me natively insert an SVG into the document. I don't need to covert it out to a high DPI png first. And when converting to PDF, PDF seems to keep it as a vector image. Or, as least, it seems to be cleaner than the png when comparing the two pages side by side.
I wonder if the solution then is to convert all of my image pages back into final SVGs, insert those SVGs into the pages instead of PNGs, and upload a new manuscript for my book using the svg-based pages?
@@jRoy7 Have you ever ordered author copies of your books? is there really much difference in quality between svg and png after printing?
give it a go and see how it goes :)
Using SVGs in my document makes it easier to work with, smaller file size, and the printing did look a little better but I'm probably hitting the quality limit of what KDP can do vs traditional printing.
Thanks for the great info. I used it a lot today to create vectors to upload to Adobe stock. Cheers from Denver.
Glad it helped!
wow!! this is soo nice, it is much better than adobe illustrator
it's pretty great :)
You are so helpful and your videos brings so much value! Thank you
You are so welcome 😄
Vector Magic has been a main stable with our art's company... I have found using Adobe PS 6 and turning the image into a Gray Scale and then use VM the convert to a SVG ... I have both Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw....with the later being my favorite or the past 20 years as in Australia there was a company who made a bridging software for Corel Draw and the more expensive vinyl cutters saving quite a bit of money. We could cut the SVG/converted to cdr even on an older "Stika Cutter" ...it was great for signage as we didwindow cover signs for new stores, to protect the glass. Also Vector magic will do a direct conversion with full colour...
that's great 😄
I use Inkscape and trace the bitmap, that way if you are working on something that needs to remain "secret". It's not in the hands of the people that made the web portal. (Read their EULA) and TOS.
thanks
i found that video lotas of help ful for me thank you stackin
Glad it helped
I was searching exactly like this video.
glad it was helpful :)
Having turned the image into a vector to improve the quality...then what? I'm assuming most people buying the coloring book pages would expect them to be a PDF or JPG for printing. Do we then save it back to that format again? Does it then lose the quality we just added?
your coloring book once formatted should be a PDF, especially if for KDP, using SVG's just makes for sharper quality of you finished end product
I don't see the editing feature available in Vectornator. Do you use any other programs that can edit the individual lines and features?
currently no but vectornator is awesome once you learn the ropes :)
@StackinProfit I couldn't find it in Vectornator. Looks like they have changed names, and the website looks completely different than what is in this video.
Do you have a new tutorial for this?
Thank you, just subscribed.
welcome aboard :)
Is this make sense to learn Adobe illustrator and Photoshop in those days?
Absolutely! Learning Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop can be incredibly valuable skills to have if you want to go down that rout.
I feel much better because of this your message. Thank you.
vectorizer is pretty cool actually.
it sure is :)
fantastic video as usual Paddy, thanks so much
Very welcome
A massive help, cheers mate.
you're welcome
I’m impressed! Great useful information thanks a bundle 😊
Glad it was helpful
Hi Paddy! Do you sell coloring books generated by AI? Amazon allow us? Thanks!
yes U do and exactly what Montana Diva Creations said :)
If you are selling these as downloadable coloring pages would you leave them in svg format?
Great video.
But you should have add a little more explanation about the vectornator, because I can't seem to figure out how to get the eraser tool. Also I think you need to download an app. It's not a browser thing 😬 . I have a big problem about space on my pc.
And another thing I'm a bit confused, are those things like Brushes and Pen tool separate or they are all included when you download the app?
it's an app for mac, which i did not realise as I have had it on my mac for quite some time. and everything is included :)
@@StackinProfit thank you
Very nice instrument, thank you! Still I'm thinking about hiring a designer to manually trace images from Midjourney as they've got a lot of rubbish in them that is hard for users to interpret and color.
If I were to do that I would probably hire someone off upwork as well and not fiverr
@@StackinProfit why not fiverr?
Brilliant! Thanks Paddy 😃
Very welcome
Hi, one question, I see you design your coloring pages to the border, is that confortable to the people that they are gonna colour them? i remember as a kid having trouble coloring to the end of the page!
a boarder is much better than having the images go straight to the edge of the page
Thanks so much, this is super helpful.
So glad!
Wonderful video, as always!!
thanks :)
Hi, do you know if I can upload to Amazon KDP the PDF file I created in Canva with images in SVG format for printing? Does Amazon have any issues with a PDF file that has vectorized images? And when Amazon prints the book for the customer, will the image quality be good? I'm asking because Amazon may convert it to another format before printing. Thank you, I appreciate your kind response.
you should be fine once you have the PDF version of your book :)
Whoa! This is huge! Thank you❤
You're welcome 😊
Svgs from vectorizer ai don't open in Canva even with sizes under 1mb. Have you tried uploading their svgs into canva without errors?
simple coloring pages will upload without any problems, the more complex the image the bigger the file
The paid tool that you said you were going to use to see if its better than the free one, which one is the better one?
I still actually prefer the free one, they both have their perks but it just seems to be the better option :)
Do you know of any other free programs for editing vectors? Looks like the link above is only for Mac.
there's lot's of different alternatives, if you google "free vector editing tool" then there will be lot's to choose from 😄 you could even google "vectornator alternative for windows" 😄
Inkscape is good
When you reduce the colors is there a way to reduce the shading without it going all the way black and you not have to keep the grey steps but just remove those sections all together?
not with vectorizer
Hello :) I am really new to the AI coloring book and amazon KDP. I understand that amazon wants a PDF file for the coloring books. I use gigapixel AI and AI sharpen, it would be great to not need both of those as that would save time. My QUESTION is: if I make this a SVG, and then save as a PDF for amazon, will that just defeat the purpose of making it SVG?
no it does not, turning your coloring pages to SVG will make the images a lot more crisp and much better quality and just opens the door to better quality coloring books when you format your coloring pages into a book
@@StackinProfit Thank you so very much, I see a big difference now :)
Your videos are hands down the best! Unfortunately even after compressing the images, Canva won't let me upload them. I assume they still are too "big". Do you know another way to fix this? Thanks!
I tried other online compressors, but my midjourney pencil drawings are very detailed and I fear 40% is the max that can be saved. Which makes the compressed files slightly over 3 MB which is still too big for canva.
thanks and yes it sounds like your images are to big
You can cut a piece of the image off. It will make the overall size smaller. Sometimes this helps
Thank you, thank youuuu ! ❤
You're welcome 😊
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!
You are so welcome!
That's alight but it is not a big problem, because your jpg image is already in a very good quality, great for printing. Many of services demand 300 dpi, but in reality, only high quality magazines are printed in up to 200 dpi. For t-shirts 100 dpi is more that enough. And newspapers are printed in 75 dpi. Also Ai enlargers worth sh t because it can't enlarge low quality photo or illustration. However, there are good online tracing sites, they are time savers, but you still need to examine and repair your image by hand. And that's a whole truth!
thanks for the info
can we use ai tools to create coloring pages with of any problmem with amazon
As long as you don't use it to create books that look like other peoples and that isn't infringing on someone else's IP / trademarks then I don't see there being an issue. If you master prompt crafting then you can create some truly unique coloring books
Great video! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
This is amazing!
great :)
Vector means ? What is vector art ?
Thanks so much
You're welcome
Maybe good to briefly introduce the term vector.
thanks
You are a life saver 😉🌷
Happy to help!
Hello
How do you check trademark for you kdp books
there's lots of different websites that you can use, this is quite a good one: trademarks.justia.com/search?
Hope you are doing well 🙏
you too :)
Thank you!!
You're welcome
People are still using MidJourney?
are they making endless disco accounts or are they actually paying per image?
of course people are still using Midjourney and you don't pay per image
Aw that sounded like a really cool problem to tackle with ANN, but I guess it's been done already
ann?
interesting thanks ^^
No problem!
omg you legend wow
:)
is good, but the file size increases too much.
even more so on detailed pages
There is dumb vector tracing and smart vector tracing, the difference is, smart has the ability to know when to use a fill and when to use a stoke's line thickness. So I ask, is it smart?
there is no such thing as dumb or smart vector tracing, every vector tracing software is slightly different. from my experience vector magic and vectorizer seems to be the best ones out there, vectorizer also utilises AI so this is why it's pretty good
@@StackinProfit You can draw a very accurate square have it vectorized into either hundreds of points or just four. Four would make it smart.
Спасибо огромное. 😎👍
:)
The carpet in your photo is gray in color and it has to be whiter so that people can color on the carpet. How do you solve this?
people can still color because there are coloring books called grayscale
Unfortunately Vectornator is only available for Mac and not Windows... Does anyone know any other free alternative?
there's lot's of different alternatives, if you google "free vector editing tool" then there will be lot's to choose from 😄 you could even google "vectornator alternative for windows" 😄
@@StackinProfit That's true! I just did! Thank you for this video, I'm now able to go into a niche I wanted to but couldn't without these tools! :D
@@Matik666Minecraft The free SVG editor I've been using for a while is Inkscape. Really powerful. I've only learned the basics, but enough for all I need. :) It's also for Mac.
Vectornator only available on mac :( i have a pc
yes, I did not realise this when I made the video as I have had Vectornator for some time
Good 🎉
thanks :)
Oh. And here I am drawing colouring pages from scratch like a scrub. AI has taken everything that makes me unique as an artist and fed it all into a robot. How is an actual artist supposed to compete with this?
there will ALWAYS be a need for illustrators :)
Canva to vectorize...pro plan
yes I think it is
😊😊
😄
The problem with AI generated illustrations is that they come up with a lot of noise, like dark areas or objects that aren't suitable for coloring 😑 and not even this vector software got them better.
it all depends on the prompts that you feed midjourney. you can create line art coloring pages with no grayscale at all
It probably would've been good to mention that vectornator doesn't even work on windows ugh.
I have had it on my mad for quite sometime and did not realise
My favorite part is how it removed all the detail from the quilt in the picture. lost all that work.
ok
Vector is not "better", it's sharper.
all depends on what you want to use your creations for
Thanks great video, although you gave your high end image to 3 companies to resell now. But maybe you are okay with it then that's fine.
ok
Doesn't work
ok
alot of repitition--- cant these be more succinct
I don't follow?
