Hi there, great review. I am convinced to buy this camera. I only have 1 question. What is the range of the motion detection ? Can the camera detect movement at for example 40 meters (120 feet) from the camera ?
That depends on many factors. The motion detection is essentially a software function. The camera recognizes as soon as something within the image changes. This is why you will also get a motion trigger if the lighting changes rapidly etc. 40 Meters should be no problem, but this is my subjective opinion. I have not checked the exact distance.
Do you have a phone app/stream if you don't purchase the cloud feature?
Great review, well done. I'm curious if anyone here had any luck adding an external microphone? I added the one Foscam said to add, ordered the phono jack to RCA adapter also required, yet no sound. Microphone works fine for my stereo, so I'd greatly appreciate any feedback.
To be honest I haven't but it sounds like you did everything the right way and if it's still not working, I might suspect the port could be defective.

Sadly no, setting these devices up depends on how you want them used, where you want to save videos, etc. This is complicated and different from one case to another. You had best contact the customer support for that.
I find the cloud option not so cheap, if you can hang the camera more then 3.5 meter high , the sd with camera will be reasonable safe.
Also I chat with Foscam , they claim on 1080 p it only consumes 700mb a day....
that would be 128 day's recording on the sd 128 gb .
Sounds to good to be true :), i think more on constant recording it would last 144 to 300 hours...
I think it all depends on how much you are using. I mean I am recording non stop. People are passing by, the camera never stops recording. For me this is an excellent option. It also gives added security - while I also record on my FTP which is essentially connected to my router - if someone were to come and steal my PC, I would be left without any video (since I don't record on the SD Card). So yes - it's strictly a matter of how you use it. For me, it's worth it, but I agree that it is not cheap. Another thing I wish was not this way is the 720p Cloud recording - I wish they would rank it up to 1080p at least.
yeah like you tell depends on what can be spend, the situation, i'm gonna hang it high enough so I could store in the sd card with reasonable safety.
The free cloud service gives you a window of how much 24 hours ? (or is there no free cloud service ? )
The free option let's you watch the real time video anytime. But it does not save any video files - so you can't look for example at what happened an hour ago, a day ago etc. No saves.
Hmm OK tot bad they do not offer an 12 hour window
what is the difference between a cover Record Full Strategy and a stop Record Full Strategy in the Scheduled Recording Section ?
Stop: When the SD card storage capacity has less than 256 megabytes of storage remaining no additional recordings will be stored on the SD card.
Cover: When the SD card storage capacity has less than 256 megabytes of storage remaining the oldest recordings will be overwritten by the camera and recording will continue. The oldest recordings will continue to be overwritten by newer ones until the process is interrupted by the user.

Can you hide the cables in the foot of the camera?I would like to connect it only via POE sow I only need to drill a hole for the LAN cable and not the whole bundle.
No, you have to drille a hole in the wall and pull the cables through that hole if you want them hidden. They do extend from the foot of the camera, but they are significantly longer than the actuall foot, so I don't think they would otherwise fit in there completely.
How do you create a playback tab?
How do you remotely copy files of the sd card installed on the camera? What part of the programs provided allow for that or do you need to physically need to remove the card to install on your PC to copy them off?
To be honest, I only store photos on the card. All the critical stuff gets stored on an FTP and the cloud. I haven't tested how well the sd card controlls from the browser controlls works.
Can't share the cam with my family, mail doesn't arrive. Any ideas pls?
It would be best to contact the foscam customer support. There can be many reasons - it all depends on your settings and your hardware.

I want to mount this camera on a corner. Have you had any experience with available mounting brackets?
Not really, but there are lots of mounting brackets on the market with flexible entries for the screws, so this should not prove to be a problem.
@@Nino_Z Thanks man. I made a bracket out of wood and have bolted it to my chimney. It works well. I have one more question; I'd really like to get a more upward vertical viewing angle on my camera. The field in front of my house is a long rise.. and even though I have it mounted on my chimney at a decent elevation, I find that the mechanical zoom won't give me enough upward view. I want to be able to see at a slightly more 'up' angle like 5° or so. Have you heard of anybody having this sort of issue? I'm thinking of propping up the base a little but I don't know if that will just skew the view as I pan the camera.
Anyway, good work and if you have any thoughts I'd love to hear them.

hello I have a question, i just bought the camera FI9928P. It works pretty well but I have a little problem. Everytime i try to mange it through my computers some strange noise comes out from my audio system.The noise is even more loudly duringthe camera panning or zooming Do have any idea why this happen? Is the camera defective ?? Thank you
Well if this only happens when you manage it from the computer - then it would seem like a software issue. If it persist even when used in any other way - then it is defective. I have never had this issue so I am guessing here.
Don't get any alerts anymore,, use android 10, app is not optimized. Any ideas pls?
Alerts are handled by android separately. See if you have given all permissions, etc. Check your notification settings. It works fine for me with my other camera and the application is the same so no reason why it won't work for you. Try it with a different phone too.

Hello Nino, can you take a picture or show how the cables are comming out of the wall, can the cables not used stay in the outside (rain etcc) ?? IF not i need to drill a pritty big hole to be able to put all those cables in :/
In my case it has been installed with a drilled hole and a special plastic hose in it. However there are options where you can buy a watertight hub. Then you can hide the cam cables in there and then have a smaller cable from the hub into the house. Here's an example picture where a camera is positioned on a poll, but it works the same way when on the wall of a house:

Ow yes thank you, so if I understand you bring main power in the hub (waterproof box) and in that box you connect the converter to low voltage, and in this box you "yam" all the not needed cables)
Also one more question, where i plan to install , I got a wimax internet of 6MB, would this be enough to send videao with wifi ? (if no other source uses the internet connection, so the full dedicated 6MB for the camera) . Much thx for the given aid.
Yep you got it right.
The internet you have should be more than enough for the video. Nothing to worry about there. Of course the question is the Wifi reception (if you don't plan on using a lan connection). That could be a problem if the reception is not good.

This camera has a 4x Optical Zoom. In other words, as long as you don't use any additional software zoom from external software, you will keep a sharp image at any level of zoom.
how do you set it to your browser? Instead of watching it through the cloud
With all these cameras it's the same - just enter the camera's IP address into your browser and you will access the web interface.
Why would they only make this a 2.0MP camera????? I'd buy it right now if it were 4.0MP.
Does it support POE? Is rotation endless 360?
According to Foscam this is a POE camera. Endless 360 is not possible here, but you can set a spinning cycle, which will go all the way in one direction and the switch to the next and back, etc.
I have this exact model, but the webbased GUI does not have the "Playback" tab I see in your video. This is quite strange. I would prefer to have it, really, because I have an sdcard inside and don't plan on paying for cloudware. Any idea how to get that playback tab in my web-gui? The firmware is the latest for this model. All is up to date, even the Chrome plugin.
The Tab you speak of is part of the cloud service. One has to pay for cloud storage and then gets it. I use it and am pretty happy about it.
T L Yeah, but the whole idea is that it's more safe not to have the recording available for anyone to simple steal or damage. That's where I see the value.
I think that stupid on Foscam part, because i was thinking about this camera and the more i read about it, i will go with another brand because of the '' lack of Playback'' using sd card

I am sorry, I haven't tried it so I can't confirm or deny that. I suggest you ask the company's tech support. Normal FTP works fine.
Good video but bad quality hardware, I have 3 different models, all with different problems ! Software not better, VMS last version always crashing ...

Understood. A lot of people have now actually complained about the music and I will either tune it down so that it is barely audible, or completely remove it.
Remove the music in future reviews. Or at least lower it dramatically.
