You’re a great teacher and your accent is adorable
Where other professionals stop teaching, you finish the job. Cindy, you're a true pro! Thanks.
Thank you so much for your kind words :)
lol.
I love your patience and ability to present the words in French and English, breakdown the meanings with examples, use them in a sentence, demonstrate the different meanings when conjugated, and the parts of speech they are used in. Your English is perfect, I had a harder time understanding these concepts in elementary school because my teacher wasn't as patient as you are. You are wonderful and I just love learning from you, thank you 🌺🌺🌺.
The clearest explanation possible. Also, how do you end up with such an authentic pronunciation of English & can you help us do that with our French.
Great work!
Thank you for your kind words! I'd say I mostly reduced my French accent through a lot of practice (listening, speaking and repeating) both before and after I moved to England. Immersion helped of course but I believe my strong desire to fit in and not be seen as a "foreigner" once I'd moved, was the driving force. The first step is to learn the pronunciation rules. I have a few lessons on the subject on my channel, hope you find them useful. Then you need to practice and listen to French as often as you can. 🙂
Just found your channel. You are an EXCELLENT teacher! You explain everything very clearly and it is easy to follow your lessons. Thank you!👍🙂

La meilleure explication que j'ai vue
Merci 😃

Cindy, thank you _so_ much for that very clear explanation. You're the best teacher of French I've found on RUclips. Btw, don't let the existence of ob-JEC-tive tempt you to say ad-JEC-tive, as it's invariably AD-jec-tive. I think we invented our unpredictable pronunciation to compete with the similarly erratic 'genre' in French-both are more idiomatic than logical, and seem to exist solely to drive foreigners crazy!
I've been told this many times before but I keep forgetting ! 🙈🤪Thanks for reminding me lol
So glad I found your videos, and yes they are very helpful, you make everything clear and easy to understand. Merci beaucoup!
Yes, useful.
Mille merci Cindy. Cette vidéo m'a aidée beaucoup. Et si mes amis me demandent l'explication de façon de prononcer "plus", je peux leur montrer cette vidéo-ci .
Excellent vidéo! I once asked for bread in a bakery late in the day. I heard "y'a pu". Her gesture made me understand that she still had cakes, but no bread. A contraction of "il n'y a plus". Dropping the "ne" for négation seems very common and round this way I've heard plus pronounced without the "L" more than a few times. Unfortunately this leads to "y'a plus" meaning either there is more or there isn't, depending on whether the s is silent. Hey Ho! Best wishes and thanks for your work!
I have just discovered your channel by chance and you have done a fine job of explaining this difficult topic for beginners. Not wishing to sound like a smart alec, I have one question. 'Il a plus de chance que moi'. Is it possible by the process of assimilation of a voiceless consonant to a following voiced consonant that the 's' may be pronounced 'z'. Compare 'Une tasse de thé'. A minor detail but interesting nonetheless. Greetings Paul
I love your videos- thank you so much! I especially love it when you give the literal translation of French into English- it is very helpful to see that!
You're most welcome! Glad you find them useful 🙂
Estoy aprendiendo francés en inglés y mi idioma es español. Jajajaja que divertido. Thanks, gracias et merci.
I understood this explanation. Thank you. However, I’d love for you to cover tous, toute, tout, etc.
Noted! 🙂
Oh dear! Last part of 'plus': J'en veux plus. Where or why does that 'J'en' part come from. "I want" is translated : Je veux - means 'I want' so why J'en veux (plus)(???)
Super great video, thanks! I had NEVER understood these rules before, now I get it!!! One little thing; the pronunciation of adjective in English is different - I wasn't sure for a bit what word you were saying. Phonetically it is: add - ja- tiv. (three syllables with the accent on "add")
Thanks a lot for the tip! I hadn't realised the c is silent. Haha I guess English pronunciation can be tricky too! 🤪
@@Frencheezi the c isn’t silent / ˈædʒektɪv / - there is a stress on the / ˈæd/. You pronunciation sounds virtually 99.99999999999% Authentic English. I was really trying hard to make up my mind if you were an English person teaching French well, or a French person with superlative English
Thank You Cindy for the explanation. Great video as always!
Thank you :)
Hi Cindy, thanks for yet another great video! It helped a lot!
Merci!
What about words „tout” and „tous”? :)
Thanks Cindy, you explained it so well that I think I finally got it!
Brilliant! 🙂
You explain it so well Cindy, merci x
This was one of the most aggravating things I had to learn, years ago. Later, it became one of my favorite things about the French language. Shit like this, once you've got a good handle on it, is pure fun. And getting this kind of thing is one of the greatest rewards of learning another language. I'm subscribing, and thank you.
best explanation i've found so far. Will have to watch a few times though until it sticks. thanks.
Madame, vos cours sont vraiment bons et j'ai bien aimé. Merci beaucoup.
Ya hece un buen tiempo que no te veia, gracias por tan buenas explicaciones, you speak Spanish by now isn't it?
Si, pero no he practicado por mucho tiempo... Tengo una niña de nueve meses, ¡entonces los días no son suficiente largos para hacer todo lo que quiero hacer! Pero me gusta la vida mucho más con ella. Mucho más divertida e interesante 😀

Merci beaucoup,Madame! Vous Êtes magnifique.J'adore vos classes!
He is more ambitious than I (not than me) in English.
Plus + de + numéro -> How is the prononciation? None of the videos about the prononciation of PLUS talks about it.
Il fait plus de 10 degrés -> pronounced as [ply].
oh God
Thank you for the lesson you make learning French a delight. I like your positive outlook concerning isolation. Even though many virologists and biochemists say a virus is not alive like bacteria. You can only get it by injection or blood transfusion. That said, whenever I have had a cold or flu. I always keep myself to myself. I certainly do not cough over anyone as some people do that is bad manners.
This was handy. We need help with gn pronunciation as well. Thank you.
I still have a job to tell you are French. You sound like a Londoner to me. XX
Thank you for the compliment! :)
By the way, this pronunciation has always been in French? I'm just interested. I once took a look at the old book about the French language, dated back in the beginning of 20th century and some people even said that lots of expressions and using of words were a bit different. It was even printed in the Russian empire, where people used to knowing French very fluently. I'm interested as a linguist. Is it better to stick to the modern French or is it fine also fine to use old books? You, as a French woman, what do you think about this? Has French changed so much since the beginning of 20th Century? You know, even my native language (I'm Russian-spoken person) were richer, that the today's Russian language. Especially with those additional letters.
😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠
When you are translating sentences to English please note that it is "than I" and not "than me". He is taller than I. She is faster than he.
Extremely clear. Thank you!
Really pleased you think so! 😀
Very helpful. Great examples. Thank you.
This what bothers me before.
Je t'aime plus - I love you more
Je ne t'aime plus - I don't love you anymore
But in familar conversation we can omit ne in Je ne t'aime plus to become Je t'aime plus. So what makes them different only the sound in "plus" 😅
Yep, this is correct 😅
Where do you live are you french 🥖
Cindy Thank you so much these lessons are wonderful. Please advise how l can place 10 pound a month into your account to help you continue giving them. Regards Jacqueline
