I played RE7 on the PSVR1 (exclusive) and it was the greatest VR experience I have ever had. I couldn't recommend it enough to anyone that would listen. I originally had the PSVR2 preordered, but cancelled it because $550 was a lot of money for me at the time of release. It was only being sold on the PS Direct Website. Which was a bummer for me, since for something that expensive I would love to use my BestBuy or Amazon credit card with 12 months financing. Then I read RE Village and RE 4 (remake) VR versions were going to be exclusive on the PSVR2. I sucked it up and bought it that day. Surprisingly, the device was free shipping and it was delivered to my home address the next day. I have been playing RE Village in VR and it is visually stunning and a lot of fun to play. Can't wait for RE 4 VR. Side note, I do have RE 4 VR on the Oculus (Meta) and its fine. Definitely worth a purchase on the Meta. Final side note, I hear GT 7 is almost perfect on PSVR2. Cannot wait to try it. Anyhoo, those are my two cents. Back to you Wulff.

I've been gaming since 1985 and the psvr2 has been the single most mind blowing gaming experience I've ever had, by far. I can't believe I have this amazing tech at home at my disposal anytime I want to play it. I think you had some interesting choices as far as games that you've tried (and didn't). I suggest playing Gran Turismo with a wheel and pedals (single handedly the greatest gaming experience I've ever had so far), Resident Evil Village, The Light Brigade, No Man's Sky, Tetris Connected, Song in the Smoke, Star Wars Tales from the Galaxy's Edge, or Moss. All of these games are just simply amazing on the psvr2. Then, later this month I'm playing things like Right Before Your Eyes, TWD Saints & Sinners, Switchback, and Resident Evil 4 (if the VR mode is ready, might wait on that one). Lots of awesome games to try out still. Give it a go!

The way I see it, this headset is for 2 types of people: VR enthusiasts who are willing to spend $950 ($400 for a PS5 Digital and $550 for the headset) to get the best price to performance VR system on the market, or people who already have a PS5 and are VR curious. For people who are mildly interested in VR and or don’t have a PS5, the Quest 2 is still the go to. But both products are targeting very different markets, they aren’t really comparable. This is meant to compete with a dedicated PCVR system, and I think the price is very attractive to people who want or expect the quality that only tethered PCVR could give you until now.

I've been into VR for 6 years with PC VR, I've had 5 headsets and used three of them (Vive & Vive Pro), have one in box in the cupboard (HP Reverb G2, could not sell it, IPD was too small), returned one (Vive Pro 2, IPD was too small), and my current headset is the Pimax 8KX. I'm impressed with the PSVR2, haptics, eye tracking, foveated rendering and half the price of an equivilant PC VR headset, and it has IPD adjustment that goes to 75mm, something I need and something that makes Quest/Meta useless for me, and Index (but they don't sell that in Australia, so it doesn't matter for me). GT7 is fantastic in VR with a good wheel, that is where I have spent most of my time. There is a bit of graininess to the view and minimal screendoor affect, but it is not that noticable, and you soon filter it out mentally. Definate winner in my mind, if you already have a PS5, and if you don't it is still cheaper than a PC and PC VR headset up.

Not to mention for $150 or so more than a quest 2 you are getting way more resolution. foveated rendering. eye tracking and higher refresh rate which really matters in VR. This is absolutely not true.....not even remotey true. All displays, VR or otherwise, have a native refresh rate that cannot be exceeded unless you use interpolation software that is internal to the display. The native refresh rate of the Quest 2 display panels is 90hz, sure you can run the game internally on PC at a higher refresh rate but the display puts out only 90 frames per second or 90hz of screen refreshes. Don't get me wrong, native 90hz gameplay is super smooth but its not 120hz, and doesn't give you the same screen reaction timing as a native 120hz display.
Conversely, PSVR2 is native 120hz display panels but does not have any native 120hz games in VR. Instead it uses reprojection of 60hz gameplay on the native 120hz display to give the smoothness of full 120hz gameplay. PSVR2 does however have several titles which are displayed at 90hz natively and share the same smoothness as Quest 2 in that regard. Where PSVR2 has the advantage in these games is that its running 90hz at a much higher native resolution than Quest 2, so you get higher resolution at the same performance of a high end PC connected to a Quest 2. Please don't misinform people of the capability of the Quest 2

@@corey_massey No. The quest 2 display is capable of 120, always has been. It was initially locked to 90 due to concerns of performance and battery life, but could be unlocked with developer options. Then they put it into experimental mode that you could opt into. And recently within the past few months, they've moved it out of experimental and it's just the default setting. Still up to the developers to code for it though.

Don't forget that using the Meta Quest requires giving up your privacy to Facebook...Read the privacy policy and note the many instances of personal data...Height, Foot Size, Hand Size, Body movement data, Room Scans and more that youre giving away to Facebook. Theres a reason the meta quest is cheap, youre subsidizing it with very intimate details about your body and living space. PSVR2 doesn't invade your privacy anywhere near the same level. An important thing to consider before buying a Meta product and something that should be mentioned when comparing these two products.

It's got a fleshed out story, is very polished and is definitely worth checking out (sorry you didn't feel that way from the demo). All in all, I think your main complaint stems from you not liking the genre or not being used to VR in general (feel free to correct me btw).
