Mike, you share the best striper fishing videos on youtube hands down. I don't even think you realize how much your videos help. since following your channel and implementing your tips I have caught more stripers than ever before in my life. Keep in mind that I've been fishing for over 25 years and still learn something new with each video. I trolled spoons and mojo's almost exclusively with much success, last season I tried the Parker spoons and now I am addicted to that style of fishing.... Thanks for sharing my brother...
That’s awesome Will!!! I really appreciate that. Another guy who really likes my videos said “I think you let the cat out of the bag with these spoons”. I replied…. Well it was my cat 😜. Thanks for the support brother!!
Another great video Mike! We fish the river channels a bunch! In the morning when the fish are actively feeding we fish the flats then later in the day when they slow down and aren’t actively feeding we fish the deeper side. We can still pick up a few but it’s definitely way slower than feeding shallow!
I think we got some experimental patterns from a while back. That’s the only one we had. I think we changed it out after it wasn’t catching as much fish to be honest.
This has me pumped up! The migration quite hasn't hit here in RI yet. even has my two year old son fired up he stole my phone running around the house going fishy boat! You ever want to fish in RI and help with small brother channel out hit me up LOL
Nah. It’s 30 pound flouro leader. it’s very thick. I wouldn’t grab braid repeatedly though. We net some fish, but they get tangled in the net with the trebles on the spoon and take longer to release.
Thought I saw some wire leader ahead of the spoon in a previous video ~ I get that bluefish frequent those areas, but does it help avoid fowling of the spoon on the way down? Or roughing of the line above it?
I'm new follower. First thank you for your videos. I fish from the shore and our area is full of strip bass and I would like to know what kind of lure I can use it.
Love a Ben Parker spoon.. Nice job cap.

Man I'd like to see you on the fishing channel. There's tons and tons of bass fishing videos but very very few striper videos.
I agree!! No Striper shows anymore. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS make it happen, bro! I'm still dreaming of fishing the waters you fish.
Still waiting in NY for 4/15. Good sign they are headed my way. #seapro239
I thot I saw one of the spoons u were using with spots on it. Mimicking the bunker. Did not see it in the link. Or was it the gizzard shad spoon?

Another great video mike . Was this filmed recently?
Thanks brother!!
This was late fall, but the fish are in. I’m shooting more video there now.
I got to ask a question have you guys ever sliced your hand open grabbing the fishing line like that because I would prefer to use a net.
Nah. It’s 30 pound flouro leader. it’s very thick. I wouldn’t grab braid repeatedly though. We net some fish, but they get tangled in the net with the trebles on the spoon and take longer to release.
This was a great 50 min video!! I can’t wait to get out there soon.
Mike, I have a question, do you pinch the barbs on the spoons?
I don’t pinch them all the way down but I hone them 50% off. Especially on the coated hooks.
Thought I saw some wire leader ahead of the spoon in a previous video ~ I get that bluefish frequent those areas, but does it help avoid fowling of the spoon on the way down? Or roughing of the line above it?
If we catch more than 2 bluefish I throw wire on, but it’s very rare. Just don’t want to lose spoons.
As long as you're following the spoon down w the tip of the rod you should rarely get the spoon or most other lures for that matter fouled up.
Mike, love your videos!! Where did you get your stern Rod holders in front of the rear flip up seat??
Thanks brother! They are Ce Smith rod holders attached to a rail I found on eBay.
Are those Parker spoons just as effective when trolling with them, or are they best used for jigging ? Thanks.
They were originally made to be casted and retrieved for Largemouth bass so they are probably great for trolling. 👍
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS Haha you don’t need to troll the fish come to you !
SSSHHHHHHHHH! Keep that between us 😜😁👍

The best bait for covering water is a plastic swim bait. Shad body’s. White and chartreuse. 👍👍👍😁
Looks like it was a good day fishing. Or should I say catching!
👍👍
put a little music in back so when you mute peoples dont notice good trick
