A bit of advice for new and old enthusiasts alike. Go into AD’s, look around, talk to the staff, try on some watches. It’s not just you that will enjoy it. Think about it for a moment. You work at an AD, 80% of the people you meet, are non-watch people looking for something to impress their coworkers or friends. They don’t really care that much about the watch; they just care about the status symbol. Along comes someone who most likely won’t buy a watch but knows everything about it. Talks about movements, designers, when what came out, and so on. I am pretty confident that someone standing behind the counter, with very little to do but polish glass, would far prefer a conversation with you, over the boredom between paying customers.

You’re probably right but I still feel like a jackass doing it, I can’t help it. I know I won’t be buying anything and I don’t want to have the sales staff waste their time for nothing.

I think using a bit of discretion is advisable. Nothing wrong with trying on and discussing watches, but I wouldn't want to use up too much of their time if I know I'm not buying.

they passed gs on the way to the gshock case, they're there. i cant imagine a 20something interested in springdrives or gmts thats nerd shit. you could immediately tell she was getting overwhelmed by the host speedrunning brands and complications, that wasnt the move imo, and would have been served better discussing how trends and design affect the timepeices as jewlery. she's a harajuku girl and that would have been a better in towards orienting her discovery imo. i cant believe these sports watch bozos pulled out a panerai instead of a tank or a reverso

Rei is absolutely spot on - many higher end watch shops are intimidating and unwelcoming. I've had over sixty years of experience as a watch collector/enthusiast and very rarely come across a really welcoming and friendly watch retailler. There is obviously pressure for them to sell and customers are simply the means of achieving targets and big profits. It's inevitable but unfortunate that customers, genuinely enthusiastic about learning more are put off by condescending, patronising and disinterested sales personnel. London is a prime example of poor watch retail sales behaviour. The only good experiences I've had here in the UK is with an Ernest Jones branch at Brighton, Churchill Square shopping centre. Watches of Switzerland branches I've found to be aloof and not too friendly.

And reviewing this video in segments will allow her to dive deeper into the world of watches. Thank you, Mr. Fukuda. I look forward to more additions to this new series!

My biggest realization of the function of a watch is the legebility. Too much watches nowdays are too complicated and downright overcrowded with detail put in random places and not made in a way to be able to tell time at a glance.

I recommend a G-shock, very cool looking, incredibly well engineered watches, they've been to space and are modern icon and even been driven over by huge trucks weighing tons, try doing that with a rolex not a chance it would survive.

Interesting episode. Loved it! A gshock is always advisable for youngsters. Instead of picking a Tissot powermatic 80 with plastic parts and no regulator, a nice Seiko 5 sports which has a reliable movement may have been a better choice.

G-shock Casio is very disappointed company for me. Last time I buy Casio 5600 King watch and the same year I saw that watch foggy. I call service and they told to me that they serviced watch but they can not quaranted the watch was not fogging again. I was bought this watch to use in different weather conditions, from sea to mountain temperatures, and watch was not usefulness in my situations. Very, very disappointed. Never any more G- Shock watch for me!

This woman was not a good first guest of the show. She did her best to seem interested, but her eyes glazed over from the very beginning. Like so many other women before her, being man-splained sports, or tools - or watches - she really could not give a fig about the topic. But, she wasn't going to turn down the opportunity to appear in a filmed programme.

bull, i'm glad they showed Tissot - even if they are in Japan. The point of the video is to widen interest and that store caters to international customers...They didn't show a single Seiko. And if you know watches, the PRX is one of the best Quartz watches to get or entry level Automatic
