  • Come along as we take a look inside Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, the beating heart for the brand's mechanical watchmaking. A new studio opened in July of 2020, this studio embodies the essence of the brand while fostering a beautiful environment for its artisans to craft these sought-after timepieces. We take a look at the history of Grand Seiko while getting a behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship that takes place behind every watch. I had a dream of visiting shizikuishi studio for a long time. But cancer left me immobile for the past two years. As you’re the only watch vlogger whom I watch and appreciate, it’s great to see that you visited their studio and shared it with your subscribers. I remember I bought my first grand seiko from Ginza back in 1977 which I’m still wearing, and this video has brought me to tears. Arigato, Baldassare San.

I’ve been to Japan many times, I remember just going into a 7/11 and the snack food would be better than lots of places in Europe . In the meantime, the way the Swatch Group has positioned their brands and swap movements among them, Grand Seiko has established itself as a luxury brand true to the term luxury. Craftsmanship, quality, passion, exclusivity, heritage, service. I think passion has gone missing from most Swiss brands.

The GS dials are addictive. I just got my 4th one… it’s the red dial GMT and is my favorite now by far. I just can’t quit staring at it when I wear it.
Thx for doing this video Teddy.
