I'll add some detailed fan noise and temps tests in the video next week :) The fan profiles are def a little aggressive, but only because the Intel CPU draws so much power. But it can def be turned down with custom fan profiles though
Don't buy it if you don't want to pull your hair out when you try to game. Nowadays the cram such power hungry and desktop grade chipsets into such small hardware...
Why not wait for the Ryzen version with the new HX 370? That one is a beast. I heard some got better fan results and performence replacing Armoury Crate with G-Helper
FYI, the rattle isn't always there. With MFD May (could be a coincidence) and my second unit, after the first unit had a touchpad that was wobbly when tapping, it feels smooth and stable now, not loose.
That's odd, because I've had this with all of my Asus laptops so far (Flow X13 2021, Flow X13 2023, G14, G16). Maybe it's an oversight, but it does feel like it shouldn't be like that 🙃
love ur channel and ur work keep it up u have really detailed reviews which talk about all the problems and the cons which some other reviews dont do they just use it for 1 day and say their thoughts unlike u also can u test the screen on the g16 vs the g14?
for someone who does a lot of rendering and 3d modeling with my laptop, but I also take my laptop with me all the time, would you recommend the G14 over the G16 (2024) when it comes to performance/portability?
The G14 is slightly more portable, but the G16 has a slightly better display. I have a full detailed comparison coming up where i cover everything, but until then, i cant tell you much 🥲 The G16 does come with a 4080 or 4090 option, which are DOUBLE as fast as the 4070 models. So if you have more money to spend, absolutely get that one :D
I have the same needs. I’m thinking about getting the G16 4080. Coming from a small laptop, feel like G14 would be uncomfortable after long hour use, display wise. 16” offers more real estate, and when seeing it in person, it actually wasn’t that heavy.
@@crimsontechyt I agree! I returned the MacBook Pro 16” and the lightness of the G16 was incomparable. I commute regularly, carrying on my back. Def would have shoulder pain after a day with the MBP 16”.
@@angelicalartista Yes I've been having the same concerns but unfortunately i can't actually see it in person in my country so I really want a good recommandation before making this purchase so I don't regret it
There are anti burn-in features built into the panel itself, which are on by default. You don't need Armoury Crate to control it, as they are hardware features, not software. So installing G-Helper doesnt turn those off :) They're using Samsung panels, which retain all their anti burn-in functions from their previous displays, which means you could probably use it every day for 8 hours, and still not get burn-in after 5 years. A lot of tests have been done around these, and even in the cheapest modern day OLEDs, burn-in is basically non-existant during normal use :) Someone on RUclips kept an LG C1 on the same screen for 18 months, and still didnt get burn-in. And that's an OLD panel by now. THAT BEING SAID: I'd still auto-hide the taskbar if you're concerned about burn-in, or are a HEAVY user (screen on 24/7).
Hey man! I’m thinking of getting this laptop this week since I’m on a trip and I’m limited in time. Could you please comment on fan noise since I heard many people in the comments talking about it? Is it unbearably loud or do I pull the trigger and buy it?
I've seen a couple of comments about it, but i myself really dont find it to be bad. At full performance the CPU does get hot, and the fans kick in, but custom fan profiles and CPU wattage limitation make it very quiet for a gaming laptop imo. It's about the same as with the G14, which i use daily, and have NEVER had noise issues with :)
Had the same touchpad issue as you and I returned it. Waiting for the replacement. When I was at the store, I tried the floor models. G16 had the same issue but G14 did not. However, it does seem to be possible to get a G16 without the issue based on some reddit comments I read.
@@ronervine If you mean for exchanging it, it's very easy to go to Best Buy and ask for an exchange. However, I just picked up my third one and it has the same issue. It's incredibly frustrating and I'm getting close to just returning it for good. The customer service reps are all reading from a script and either tell you to exchange it or send it in for repair. I guess everyone else just deals with it. I wanted a thin, light, high quality windows machine with a strong gpu to fill the void of the macbook I had at my job. Had high hopes for this product but its not there yet.
@@ronervine If you just want to exchange or return it, you can easily do that at Best Buy. However, I'm on my third exchange and it still has the issue. I've heard two instances where ordering directly from ASUS yielded a better result so will try that. I really want to love this laptop but this is unacceptable.
It's basically non-existant at this point. Even if you leave it at the same screen for a years straight 24/7, there still won't be any burn-in (And that's an unrealistic scenario). There's a bunch of built-in anti burn-in features that prevent it from happening anymore. I've used mine without the taskbar hiding for half a year, and have had zero issues. (And I use my laptop daily for atleast 6 hours at school)

@llroyalarkll7969 Yes, the G16 would be more than enough to play games :) The 32GB model is a great way to future proof yourself for future games as well
Hello good, you recommend the one with 4080 or 4090, because both are limited to 115W, and because of the bottleneck issue I do not know what to opt for, and the 4080 has a higher boost frequency. I use it to play Minecraft with plaintiff shaders.
@ADHD55 have played minecraft with shaders with the 4070? is that I buy the 4060 to try and it works well, but when I put shaders it does not reach more than 60 fps, and without being even very high
@26roberto I own the g16 4070 32gb ram and it could handle cyberpunk snd other intense games plus 3D rendering im sure minecraft with shaders will be fine.. how I uninstalled armoury crate and almost all windows bloatware I installed g helper which allow me to customise CPU performance to my preference
From what I know, we got no Zephyrus G16 4070 model with a RGB keyboard and a OLED panel, that model only comes only with an IPS, if you want OLED in the Netherlands, you need to buy the 4070 with 16GB, or the 4080 with 32GB.
