    *What you are about to hear in this BAM EXCLUSIVE is a very rare interview with the Grateful Dead’s guitar master Jerry Garcia that hasn’t been heard for over 30 years!*
    I first took notice of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead in 1967 when they would play at free concerts in Golden Gate Park like the “Human Be-In” and the “Summer of Love.” The counter culture’s “Hippie Movement” was just getting started back then and the music coming out of San Francisco was starting to light the world on fire!

      The crappy music dies eventually. There is pop music from the '60's that is sheer trash. No one plays it anymore.

    BAM was a great magazine! I kept a lot of the really coo issues after 1976 when our friend was a colleague/writer and fellow Grateful Dead fan. There was a lot of amazing music in the bay area going on then. We were lucky.

      I think those years 72 73 74 a bunch of those early seventies is a time when Jerry and the band were so dialed in that it was sick it was just over the top I can remember standing right in front of the band back in say let's say 73 and cherrywood just stare at you and burn a hole right through your head while playing the guitar at such a high quality that it would just amaze you for a lifetime I don't know words can't describe the quality of that band back in those days they were really at such a peak of perfection

      Even in his worst years of drug use he always sounded pretty clear minded in interviews. Most definitely not during some shows but he always got right wooing to people about the music.

    Couple things one if I would have known what I could have extrapolated from being a student of Jerry Garcia I would have learned to play the banjo back in 1963 and the other thing is I was just wondering everybody who interviews Jerry before a concert usually tunes up the person being interviewed I was wondering what would happen if somebody got a little aggressive and dosed Jerry before show I wonder how much that would be appreciated or not

    • @newusernamehere4772
      @newusernamehere4772 3 года назад +1

      Jerry has been dosed against his will at a show at least once (look into the "we put about 800 hits of acid in that frosting" story, he thought he was taking a microdose and wouldn't REALLY be tripping, then when he went on to play he thought someone was going to kill him...basically seeing 20 years into the future lol)
      He's said it's been helpful for his playing long term but not entirely enjoyable.
      The early rule was to always assume everything was dosed at certain events...

  • @arlenmargolin1650
    @arlenmargolin1650 3 года назад

    This guy's a little strange I mean he's asking questions to Jerry like since you've guys gotten a little contrified do you think you've contributed to the country scene in Nashville I don't know how do you compare that question to anything it's just bizarre I mean the Dead have been contrified since 1962 well maybe a little later
