The best thing about this vlog is Nikki's happiness with her room,it shines through the whole vlog.I love how you've managed to create a lot of light into your room.The fab colours add interest and warmth.I love your cutting table,perfect height and extra uses too .Your quilt looks fascinating,really interesting and even though you sewed it randomly it looks planned.

What a lovely sewing space. You have the same grin as I do when I look at my own new sewing space. After 30-odd years of using the dining room, conservatory, under the stairs (like Harry Potter), etc., I now have a place for everything so it's much easier to tidy things away but if I want to, I can leave everything out until the next sewing session, yippee. I'm so pleased with it, I'm almost pulling people in from bus stops to come and have a look :). Anyway, I love what you've done and look forward to the rest of the house tour!

Thanks for sharing your new sewing room. It all looks wonderful. I just last year turned our smallest bedroom into my dedicated sewing room and it is bliss to have a place for everything and a space in which to abandon the latest project just as it is until there's time to come back to it. I can close the door and nobody sees if it's left a bit messy. In your case, nobody will see since they shouldn't even be down those stairs unless invited! I love the pig in the corner! Happy sewing in your lovely, dedicated space!

LOVE! the quilt. I am working on a EPP (thanks to you! LOL) grandmothers flower garden. Actually FOUR! of them. I spend my winter in Arizona and like to have projects to work on so I bought fabric... too much of it.. and Mom said get soem for me. So we both ended up with too much. Then when I get home in March we will both have 2 throws or one Queen size and I will have to quilt them all. lol. Your sewing room is lovely and I think your house design is super cool! Wow, it's absolutely beautiful Nikki. Your SEW lucky to have a room just for sewing. We became empty nesters a month ago, & I now have a craft room, a Sewing corner, & my cutting table is 2 fold up garden tables, cable tied together, with a tablecloth ontop. The whole room looks like Pineland. Lol. It's a working progress, I guess. Ha. Beautiful quilt too. I have approximately half your fabric stash. 😉 Thankyou for sharing. Ohooo - how incredibly wonderful Nikki! I’d be delighted to do the quilting on my long-arm quilting machine for your quilt. I’d do it for free, but the international postage might be high because of the bulk and weight! Wish we lived closer to each other. The rainbow peg boards and drawers are just perfect. What fun! You deserve this so much Nikki. So very happy for you. Hugs from Oregon! (Pay no attention to Portland - crazy people!). I live about an hour from there in the country where it’s just heaven.

Those pinboards are gorgeous what a lovely sewing space
A space for serious sweatshop work is a tough environment. This sewing room doesn't even look used. In a real work space one would expect to see scraps of fabric lying everywhere with women and children laboring away at a loom. This sewing room is totally gentrified by someone gifted with privilege.
@@JohnDoe-bf1fw And so what? Firstly, it's a NEW sewing room and I'm sure Nikki tidied it up before the filming took place. And, secondly, in my opinion there's nothing wrong with someone, who is in your words "gifted with privilege," taking advantage of their privilege and making a pleasant space in which to work. Would you have her clothe herself in sackcloth and ashes and force herself to cram all her sewing stuff into a messy, tiny corner just to please you? You need to take that serious chip off your shoulder, John Doe, and go away if you can't just be happy for someone else!
@@hf3739 you did a good job describing my sewing space. Electronics lab, photography, tool shop and sewing is all in one room. I also eat and sleep in this room. ...and my girlfriend has BPD. My life is a mess, but I'm trying to make collared button down shirts. Great hobby.
John Doe Sewing is a great hobby but you’ll feel better in yourself if you can be happy for others who have things you don’t have ..... and maybe would like. Keep at the sewing. Sewing is my happy space.....even at times when I’m trying to get something tricky to work out right.
Some great tips and a lovely sewing room!! I really like the fun pinette display idea and I will be sorting my zippers into size bags. You should paint the ceiling a lovely light blue so you feel like the sky is above you : ))

Awesome sewing studio!!!!!!! So happy and fun! You gotta love ikea for storage and sewing studio organisation. Just fantastic space and colours. Fabulous quilt, excellent use of colour and scraps, I love scrap quilts for happiness and memories of other projects. Have you thought of doing straight line quilting about half inch apart just using the edge of the walking foot as your guide, or 2 inch apart to echo the size of the finished strips perpendicular to the orientation of the blocks? I would spray bast it and start from the centre and work your way out to the edge. Surely Rachael would be happy to help you with the spray basting!!!!

I don’t have a set area but have both a mini ironing board and a big standard ironing board that I put up when needed. I also recently made a pressing mat that I can get out when it’s literally just 1 seam that needs pressing 🤣

Its actually a massive sticker! It's such a weird place, halfway down the stairs to the basement and I just wanted to add something fun and colourful. Here's a link

I did! It's the Somerset Tee from Maven Patterns and the fabric was a fabric I had in my stash for a while but I think it was a beautiful cotton jersey from Raystitch

But I don't like where you put the overlock, the chaos in the drawers under the desk and the "not showing" of the three kallax table. I mean, what is inside.
My problem is how organize all the little stuffs and tools!!!!

The cutting table using the kallax units is detailed in a blog post on our website. You can see all the details there.
I like the overlocker fine where it is, all these things are personal taste. The room is still evolving and when this was filmed I had just ‘moved in’

It can get chilly in the winter but it has a radiator so will be cosy when the heating is on. It’s also beautifully cool in the summer
