I can totally relate to sewing in a small space, though I'm not as organized. The sewing gets all the prime real estate of my bedroom and everything else is chucked behind the camera. 😅

This is the first time I have noticed your channel, & I was drawn to this content title because I need suggestions for "living small." I live in a small, one-bedroom apartment that has mostly small rooms. The main & largest room has been divided into a combined sitting/diningroom & a craft studio. I am a senior woman with a number of crafting skills including sewing, & I became disabled about 13 years ago. I can not seem to give up any of my crafting (& continue to learn new ones!) making my space difficult to keep organized & neat from in a wheelchair. (I used to be obsessive about that, but my life suddenly changed.) I commend you for having made limits for yourself. (I NEED to & am working on it.) Utilizing the limited space under my hospital bed is what I am working on now. (I should make a bedskirt too!) Recently I rearranged my closet area & got a good amount of storage space in the process, I am happy to say. I agree with you that we should decorate our living spaces by showcasing our finished projects as well as works-in-progress. I shall continue my efforts in hopes of making my environment a welcoming haven for myself & others. Thank you for sharing yours!

Wow! Wow! Wow!!!! With the amount of space I have, the dressers I have, shelves, peg boards, tables, etc. I am without excuse at all!!! Thank you for sharing - your storage solutions are so purposeful and I had forgotten that. I use to have a small space and I had so very much stuff in that space but everything had a spot and if I got some new treasure then something else had to go or I needed to get creative. Now I have so much space that I am always thinking that oh I need another drawer unit or shelf when what I really need to do is make better use the storage units I already have.

    • @Pour_La_Victoire

I used to have all my sewing stuff spread throughout my parents' house and it was frustrating to remember where things were and even more difficult to excavate them from their hiding spots! Having supplies grouped together has really helped speed up the process of starting projects and I feel has increased my sewing productivity overall!

😊Impressed by your discipline & organization. Your every detail is beautifully sorted & stored, including your own current wardrobe and vintage costume collection. Brava!👏
🤗 Greatly appreciated all your tips. •Enjoy seeing systems that work for you. •How you creatively mix the pragmatic & the pretty. •How you cleverly prioritize your storage. •How you stow all your various collections where everything is accessible.
🤔This research is helping me figure out a plan for my sewing future. Inherited a whole collection of ✂️sewing materials from my mom who was a master sewist|seamstress.

All for the 3 Rs♻️〰️ and everything having it's place. 😆 Like you, I'm also puzzled about tiny living zealots who don't seem to possess any passions or past times.💖Love fashion, art, diy, gardening, cooking|entertaining. All things that require a certain amount of gear.

This was super useful to me! I immediately went to the Kmart website (in Australia, Kmart is basically our Target, though we have targets too, but Kmart tends to be better for home decor and the like) to go see what I can do about some storage.
I have not quite a full corner of my loungeroom as my sewing/desk area (it does double duty). And because it is in the main part of my apartment, I want it to look nice as well as maximise storage. The issue is that all I’ve got is a desk and a cutting/dining table (that separates my area from the rest of the lounge. Double duty is the term of the day for apartments, I guess). But I don’t have any actual storage furniture apart from that, which makes things difficult. I currently have a not quite square basket on the desk that is holding all my sewing supplies, which is definitely overflowing and doesn’t look great, because it’s not squared enough to actually fit anything in nicely. I’ve also discovered that there’s just enough room under the table to fit two short sets of wire drawers, so hopefully I can get some of those soon. And there’s enough room to fit my tabletop ironing board in between my desk and table (they’re at 90 degree angle). My other issue is that I’m a wheelchair user- which means I need to be able to reach most things from my chair. So boxes under tables aren’t accessible for me, and I hate to have to wait to ask someone else to get something for me.
My mum will hopefully help me on a project to make a desk hutch with a pegboard backing- I’m in a rental and rental rules in Australia are very strict and it can be difficult to hang so much as a picture (we need to get written permission from the real estate to hang a single picture) let alone drill something into the wall- so desk hutch it is!
But this video has inspired me to get in tomorrow and clear out my desk drawers and put them to better use. They’re mostly filled with general office/household detritus, and that needs to change. I need that storage space! Why wait to get all the items I want, if I can start to sort through things now?
Also, your cat and mine look almost identical apart from size. Mine is about the size of a 6mo kitten still, but she’s 2.5 years old, likely due to stunted growth from abandonment as a kitten, before she was old enough to be away from her mum. Teeny tiny thing she is, but a big, fearless personality! What is it about tiny animals?
But really, thanks for this video. It’s definitely the most helpful sewing space/organisation video I’ve come across! Most are for much larger areas, where they have an entire room for just that one thing. That concept is pretty wild to me, ngl.

I'm really glad this video was helpful for you. A desk hutch and pegboard sounds super handy -- I imagine it will look very cute with scissors and ribbons hanging from it! I wish you the best of luck on making your sewing space work for you :) And your cat sounds adorable and precious!

I loved seeing your space and how you manage to put so much in a small space. I’m a quilter and weaver in a 1 bedroom apartment. I’m currently organizing my sewing space in my bedroom. I used to have 3/4’s of a basement for my sewing room. I had a longarm machine in it too. Now my daughter has it in her house! I’ve definitely downsized but am comfortable with what I have now.
I used to have several treadle machines which I do miss. I still have a Singer hand crank that was made in Scotland. They were lovely to sew on! It would be cool if you had one to sew your historical garments on. They do a fantastic job of sewing through heavy fabrics. They only had to do a straight stitch and did it really well. There is also a Wilcox & Gibbs machine that is a chainstitch machine. It comes in a hand rank style, a treadle or with a motor. They are nice for doing chainstitch embroidery, sewing seams and for basting. I made a Christening dress on it. I miss having that one the most.

This protects my knees when on the floor cutting, and gives my fabric some "grip" so that it won't slide around as I cut.
