    Mine does the same thing.. but I also have zero rattle or noise.. leave it alone if it's not a problem.

    The stoppers are Spring loaded & it is touching. Like a button press. It feels like some sort of shock damper for glove box door. Anyway it doesn’t rattle when I hit bumps. I tried it after watching this video.

    After hating on this glove box, my view has changed. Could’ve been designed better for the purpose of leg room give. But It’s apparent that this is by design and it looks firm enough to not bounce while driving/off roading.

    It’s designed that way. They are spring loaded so the door doesn’t rattle on rough roads.

      @@RobMotive no but I've been to Japan, I was in a bus and when the bus had to make an extended stop the driver went outside and started cleaning all the windows, they just have a different philosophy in life

    There is play in the glovebox in my 2014 accord. I've literally never noticed it and it has never rattled. The only reason I figured this out is because I pushed on it after seeing all the commotion about this tacoma. It's a non problem to me!

    Mine doesn’t rattle on any type of road and I actually like it like that cause on my 3rd gen it always seemed to want to fall back open whenever I closed it

    Hey Rob I have a 2021 SR Tacoma access cab utility package w/o jump seats here in PA. Love it with 2.7 proven engine. Glove box issue is another reason for most viewers watching new Tacoma videos to hold on to their trucks that that have! 😊

      I’d say if the loose glovebox is turning people away from the new Tacoma then they were never interested in it in the first place.

      I have the same truck, but a 2020. It’s a rear dive truck. It goes well in the snow (AT tires) with the auto LSD turned on. There is not much to break and it performs pretty well. It easily gets 30 mpg in warmer weather.

    Looks to be fixed on my 2024 TRD OR. Those little rubber nubs have been replaced with longer ones that are spring loaded and retract to keep outward pressure on the door.

    I just checked out my 24 Tacoma glove box and it does the same thing but I believe it's actually contacting the spring loaded stoppers. I wonder if this is intentional for some reason.

    Let me see if I got this right. Pay 40k or so for a truck and you have to spend your time getting the glove box how it should have come from the factory?

      Well you don't have to. You could take it to the dealership and have them look at it if you choose.

    There have been comments online saying that the 2024 Tacoma shifting with the automatic transmission is rough. Have you experienced this?

    Go to a sewing store and buy sewing needle covers the kind of sewing needles that your grandmother used to knit blankets with they make these little rubber grommets that go over the point of the needle that would work

    Is there any way to adjust the latch on the glove box

      Just by looking at it, the overall problem is that the latch hole is obviously too far down/forward so that the door panel is not engaging with the spring loaded stoppers. IF you had a 3d printer and average modeling skills you could print a part/spacer to move the front of the latch hole up/back. This would also reduce the gap around the glove box.

      No, it’s that the spring mechanism is too weak. It contacts the door just fine.

    Nice troubleshooting and attention to the little details Rob. If you’re looking to tighten it up just a tiny bit more, on the last stick-on nub that was just a bit too much, have you thought about using the course side of a nail file and just shaving down the rubber ever so slightly? Just a suggestion.

    I've watched two of your videos that have to do with your 24 Tacoma. My takeaway is the fit and finish of all the interior plastic is terrible. I see so many gaps throughout the cab.

      @@RobMotive I bought a 24 Pro 4x and test drove a 24 Tacoma Sport. I did try both. I wanted a 24 Taco but Price and engine swayed me to the Nissan. Just my opinion. I've owned a 2017 Tacoma Sport an 06 Tundra TRD off road. I wanted to like the Tacoma but was unimpressed. I wasn't trying to agitate you. You have a nice-looking truck no doubt. That said look at the gap where the head unit is. Or the Chrome to the left of the glove box..

    How small is the actual latch? Is it plastic or metal? And The fact that it’s lockable seems redundant if it is plastic.

    Great idea Rob. That’s the first thing I noticed on my 2023 limited Tacoma, was the lose glove compartment. Did you have this problem on your 2023? I get the feeling you’ve just experienced this problem on the 2024.

    Thats is a problem I stated a while ago. Someone dropped the ball on the glove box design. Toyota needs a fix on these asap!

    Try to adjust the lock latch on the inside of the Gulf coupon. Maybe you could back it up a pinch.

    It is Supposed to do that so if someone with long legs or any gear in the passenger seat push against it there is some give and nothing breaks! 😅😂 but still if ya got ROUGH roads I guess I could hear that bang but I haven’t heard it and roads around me are pretty bad…

    Really have to push my glove box door to get it to move much. No way does it rattle on a bumpy road. 24 taco off rd.

      @@RobMotive just checked Rob, only the manuals and a tire gauge. There is play, but a lot of resistance when I push against the door. Emptied it and the same thing. I have the off road which doesn’t give as smooth a drive as the sport due to the off rd suspension.

    The 3rd Gen doesn't have that issue. I see the 4th gen still has a useless glove box that requires a partition insert. Small things can really bother some people. Good luck Rob

    I'm so glad this new 2024 Toyota is keeping you busy fixing all of the factory defects I'm so glad that I have a 2022 have not had one single problem with it at all interior is so much nicer not all the sharp corner angles like on the new one especially that stupid screen sitting up in front of your face so you have problems looking over the hood😅

      Perhaps but time will tell. :) but keep putting these videos out and that will decide if I want to buy one of these in 2 to 3 years or not and what the lookout for just like it was with the third gen I waited five years to purchase one of those to make sure all the bugs were worked out because I don't want to waste my time sitting in a dealership time is money that's why I'll never purchase a EV waiting for it two charge.

    There's so much tension pulling that glovebox down, it doesn't jiggle. You have to force it to make it jiggle. Clearly you've never even taken your taco off road.

      @@RobMotive mine has the same "play". It doesn't jiggle when going down the road, or off the road. Other utubers have pointed it out, and none of them have complained about a rattle from it.

      It’s literally got little springs and there are videos of the designers talking about why it works like that. It’s for dampening to fix the rattle that some earlier generation owners had when off-road or on rough terrain.

    50k TRUCK not include a perfect gloves box.
    Hehehehh, my advice is to make Toyota fix not ourselves, any damage will avoid warranty.

      Mexican built toyotas just do not have a good fit and finish. They need better quality control over there. Also, they are paid some much less, yet the prices do not reflect that.

    A Jerry-rigged very expensive little truck, you should add an other fuel tank for the long trips since Toyota saved a bunch of money cutting corners on this expensive little truck.
    Oh and the back seat strap! That design is so futuristic made of left over seats material.

    That is why I don't buy vehicles made in Mexico and as much as money that you paid for that vehicle you shouldn't have that kind of problem at all

      Being a first year redesign, I knew fully well there could be little issues (assembled in Mexico or not). If this is all I have to deal with, I’d be very happy.
