Not only could the tanning oil have contributed to your foundation breaking down, but the Prep and Blur Stick could have been the problem, too. Last week, I moisturized my face with Elf's Hydrating Water Essence first, then used the blur stick, the Flawless Finish foundation and some powder. Barely three hours later, my makeup had melted down! The blur stick does not have silicone, but the foundation does. That mis-match between the primer and the foundation might have contributed to your problem, too. I found that the blur stick works well under powder foundation, instead. ~Anastacia in Cleveland

Try that foundation again... Without the drops... I think you will have a change of mind. I put this on.. I actually did a whole face of elf products. A few hours later i had an emergency event with one of my kids.. Then i had another event with another kid... 36 hours later i got complemented on my make up application by a total stranger who had no idea my whole world just tilted!! I will forever stand behind elf products now.
You must be amazing about not touching your face because i used this foundation with setting powder and spray and it wore off after of couple hours of me just sitting at a desk at work occasionally resting my chin on my hand. Maybe people with more oily skin helps it to stay on longer? I have normal to barely oily skin and this just comes right off.

Please Tati, give the foundation another shot without the drops. I could tell it changed it when it got fluffy. I've used it for years and the consistency is different when it's alone. 😄

I've been buying elf since it had the smallest display at Walmart. They have stepped up their game tremendously, I'm proud of ELF cause people like my self on a fixed income, can afford good quality makeup. I always knew they would grow. ☺☺
You cant afford expensive make up. There is good quality make up that isnt expensive. There is expensive make up that is terrible. Tartes camera lashes mascara is terrible. Just an example

I know she said that she liked the drops and not the foundation, but I can't help but wonder if the foundation broke up and wore off so much BECAUSE of the drops. Perhaps it will do the same thing to her other foundations. I'm very curious!
Nope this foundations performs very inconsistently with no rhyme or reason. For some people it lasts forever and for others it wears off immediately. The reviews on elf's website largely state it wears off easily and for me it definitely did even with elf setting powder, primer, and setting spray and multiple different brands and combinations there upon. For $6 i cant complain but nyx cant stop wont stop is only a couple dollars more ($15 for an oz vs $6 for 0.5oz) and it actually is very long wearing CONSISTENTLY. It's just a super weird formula that reacts super differently for everyone.

I agree with everyone stating to try Giving the foundation another shot. Why try something for the first time and mix it with another product that you also haven't tried, then claim you don't like one of them? How can you tell which was the problem? It could've been either? Or both could be great, just not together. So if you can, try them both again to give them a fair shot.

Agreed, I think the drops messed with it. While the elf foundation isn’t my absolute go to it’s pretty good and manages to not break apart on my oily skin.

I haven’t watched all the way through yet, but reading the comments I’ve guessed the foundation didn’t work out for you- I am another vote for giving it a 2nd chance- I love it for everyday, I mix it with the IT CC Cream often and it’s very long lasting.

I love watching your makeup programmes. I am 58. I adore makeup and always have. I love to still learn. My health is not good and I get terrible sweats which drench me. I really enjoy your tips on helping to make your makeup last well. I am very very pale skinned, so it's not good to put on too much colour but I find it soon fades generally making me look really white! I remember when I was a little girl at primary school the headmistress saw me one day and said, "you're ill child, I'm going to call your mother and get her to take you home"! That's how pale I am, and have always been. Any tips, I'd love to know. Thank you so much.

Mattie agreed! It's one of my favourite foundations when I'm a little tanned! It's always smooth and applies beautifully on me. It also outlasted an 18 hour day in retail on black Friday. I can't be mad over it lol

MirandaV V she used the clarisonic brush head. And foundation mixtures take time to break apart most of the time. For example I used two of my holy grail foundations mixed today because one is too dark, one too light right now, and at 7am when I left the house my skin looked bomb. My 1pm my nose was a crusty, broken apart mess. It doesn't happen instantly.

Not hating just pointing something out. How can you make a final decision that you don’t like the foundation....you mixed it with an oil, didn’t powder your face and then sprayed a dewy skin mist. I feel like ANY foundation would ware off under those circumstances

Please bring back Madness Monday, I really miss those videos! I liked your eye shadow, it is different than your normal but still neutral enough to wear in a professional setting. However, I definitely agree with everyone asking you to try the foundation again without the drops and with your normal primer. It doesn't seem fair to judge the wear time of a foundation when there are so many extraneous variables.
Alli Marie I feel you there and I know they sell things online but when it comes to me ordering products online I tend to go with Hiram brands and elf happens to be one of those brands that I don't want to take the time to pay for because I expect it to be in my stores. Since they have some really no frills packaging and marketing it can be harder to find shades or see exactly what you want online. I would just rather lose my online purchases to bigger ticket items
This look is so nice! Very casual and bright. The bold deep pink lipstick was super flattering on you and really brought out the bubbly happy side of tati.
I would ask that whenever you're doing a first impression of a palette that you would *swatch all the shades for us.* Different colors have different formulas, and the colors you gravitate aren't always the ones I'm interested in. For example in this palette I wanted to know how the darker smokey shades would look, especially the blue and green xx

I love ELF Cosmetics! It's such a good brand for people with budgets, like myself, and can't buy those higher end brands. All their products work so well for me and doesn't break the bank.
You may want to try the foundation again without adding the self tanner drops in... I’d be interested to see if that makes a difference, I’ve heard really good things about that foundation, at that price point it’d be worth giving it another shot
Maybe you can try the foundation (that youve never tried before so you decided for whatever reason that you would put another product in it that youve never tried before... for real Tati) by itself and it might work better with your skin type. Idk, just a suggestion
Maybe try the foundation without the drops and a normal primer because I have that foundation and it is smooth and has lasted 10 hrs in my skin while looking flawless. Hope you try this!
I have oily skin and despite looking very smooth when I first put it on, this foundation just doesn't have any lasting power on me at all. It completely breaks down after like 4 hours
V H Huh, I have combo skin but I get very oily on my nose and this foundation works well with it. It isn’t my favorite, but it’s very good. But some people like different things!!

Yes 100%. I have the foundation and it isn’t fluffy at all. The foundation is great for me and I love it. It lasts me all day. I’m pretty sure it was the drops.
grace m exactly what I was thinking. This is one of my favorite foundations and I've never had it puff up. It is a little thicker but not hard to blend and lasts all day on me. I do have dry skin though. And I just don't like 1st impressions that are the final say on a product. You use it once and that's it nope it's not good? No that's not a fair assessment of a product. I love Tati so much but lately these types of things have been really making me not want to watch her for any type of review based video.
Christy Fielding that’s a pet peeve of mine too. If you’ve never used a product before it should be used alone to get an accurate impression. I really hope she tries it again. It’s a great foundation alone, but I like to mix it with my It Cosmetics CC cream. I have combo skin and don’t have any problems with it melting off like she did.
I wish she would have done half her face just foundation and half with drops and foundation. That way we could see if there was a difference and if the drops worked or if they didn't. I didn't get a good sense of if the foundation was good or not bc she is combining 2 products together she's never tried.
I think this might have been hard to blend because of the serum you added. I use this foundation almost daily and I haven’t had any issues. Just a thought though.
Elf was the first makeup brand I bought and tried on my own when I was like 11/12. Every since it’s had a special spot in my heart. They have some really awesome products and is definitely underrated!
The lip crayons aren't new, they've been around for years. Also, don't buy them in the set it's a massive rip off. They're cheaper individually in the black packaging. They're charging more for the rose gold packaging.
I've used that foundation for a long time and I think it would have been great if you didn't add the oil and if you would have set your whole face. It would have been nice to see how the foundation performed with your normal face makeup for a first impression.

My fave foundation, I do run out quick and noticed I was repurchasing too often. Turns out it’s less than 1oz, and you get .68oz for $6 so that’s about $12 for 1oz which is the standard for most liquid foundations, so I do find it on the pricey side for elf, but I love it so much that I keep buying it.
I have very sensitive skin & probably about 95% of products out there break my face out horribly. I tried ELF about a year ago, & I have been using it ever since. Rarely any breakouts now & when there are they are very minimal. Love ELF! Great video.
I found this so helpful! I've never really tried many ELF products but will have to take a look at their eye shadow palettes. BTW I love your off the shoulder top, I'm a bit obsessed with off the shoulder/cold shoulder tops I think they are so flattering! Looks great on you! xoxo
Hi Anne, I think you'll love their palettes. They are so affordable & have a few Mad for Mattes. Very blendable. I think it has 12 colors, just 1 has 10 but they give you a brush with 2 sides for your eyebrows. Tati is so pretty, beautiful skin & features. Love u xoxo

Tati, have you heard of Maskcara’s IIID (3D) Foundation? 4 creams you put on in 1 layer & it’s a highlighting & contouring foundation. I am super intrigued, but would love to know your thoughts on it. Also when you order 4 tins, you get a free magnetic compact to put them in. Then when you run out of something, you can just replace the 1 tin you ran out of. Like I said, I’m super intrigued!
camismith22 Cara beat her in the Allure beauty blogger competition-so she probably won't review it. Also, Tati said she stays away from Mary Kay, Avon, and other independently sold cosmetic brands (although she has come out with a FEW reviews of specific products) to put women who sell this product in jeopardy. I also know she doesn't prefer cream products, and because I use IIID foundation myself, and know there's a learning curve-wish she wouldn't review it. I'm sure she would give it a negative review (no one really likes it first try, to be fair) and she goes through so much product to review, would never revisit it to give it another fair shake. But it IS my foundation, I have a serious brand loyalty (I've been following Cara and Tati since before the Allure competition) and don't want to be left with a bad feeling knowing Tati doesn't love it.
Joy Kelso, I would think with how much Tati builds up other RUclipsrs that she wouldn’t refuse to try Maskcara’s IIID Foundation just because Cara beat her in the Allure Beauty Blogger Contest. I would think that Tati would celebrate and be happy for Cara. I’ve also been following Tati & Cara for years. I think very highly of both women. I love Tati for her open & honest reviews, and I would expect nothing less if she did choose to try the Maskcara IIID Foundation. I also realize she doesn’t love cream foundations, but just because she doesn’t love them, doesn’t mean her viewers have the same opinion. If something doesn’t work for her, she states her opinion, but usually says, “but hey, this may work for you, and if you end up loving it great!” That’s one of the reasons I love Tati and value her opinions so much.
I would love to see a segment of what's in your travel/to-go makeup bag; i.e. products you take with you in your purse on the day-to-day. I always end up bringing a large makeup bag with me which takes up a ton of space in my purse (and its not a small one by any means). Thank you!

Ive said this a few times on your recent videos, but please try products multiple times. It is nearly impossible to get any true idea of a product after 1 use. For instance here you had problems with the foundation, had you tried it without the drops, or with a different primer yoou can get a much better idea.

KrystyLaFloof I know I am not Tati, but I own the Wet N Wild Goth-O-Graphic collection and it is all super amazing except for the metallic liquid lipstick!! I don’t know what they did differently in the metallic liquid lipsticks for this collection but they are awful; it’s not like their other liquid lipsticks that are super pigmented and amazing!! The Goth-O-Graphic ones are streaky and very sheer like a lipgloss instead of lipstick!! The cream eyeshadows are beautiful!! The real winners of the collection though are the highlighters especially the loose highlighter Moon Tears; it’s super beautiful and blinding!! Hope this helps you!! 💜💜

Yeah I have this foundation as well and it’s quite runny and not puffy at all. I’m not a fan of it though because it makes me greasy after a few hours and doesn’t wear well on my skin
Audrey Harris this foundation should be given another shot! On me it gives the most perfect amount of coverage and glow. My only drawback is that if you don't set it, it will break apart after about 6-8 hours
Paige Crawford if you label your video "testing" a makeup product, your audience will expect you to TEST the product. It would have made more sense to do the half face with oil, and half without. Smh people these days

I literally just bought that foundation two days ago and was looking to see if you reviewed it. I personally like it a lot. Mainly because I’m not a full coverage queen so I do a light layer just to even out my skin tone and it lasts long enough for what I need it for 😌 I also looooove the packaging.
I LOVE that foundation!! Same color and I’m oily! It stays like iron. It’s one of my 3 favorite drugstore foundations. Keep trying that foundation as one try isn’t enough time to tell. You might use matte setting spray. The lip colors are fab too. All things from ELF are great IMO. PLEASE try it again and give it a chance. They’ve stepped it up. 😘
Oooohhhhh, the Hard Candy Cosmetic line. I love their liquid eyeliners, and pressed glitters, but I'd love to see a full face! They have GORGEOUS palettes that are about the same price range as e.l.f.
I add lots of oil to my tinted moisturizer...depending where you live, you may need it...I don't think this is weird at all. What I love about Tati is that she tells you what she is doing...so you can take or leave her opinion...she isn't hiding anything. Also, for me, adding oil to my tinted moisturizer has been a huge game changer this winter & I have had endless compliments since doing so...just a thought that we all have different ways of doing things!
skiyogagirl you probably don't add an oil before trying it alone though. I think that is people's point. You can't do a good review if you start playing chemist with the product you are trying for the first time. I add oil to some of my foundations too because I don't like how they wear by themselves. I only do that after I see how it looks and performs though.

I use the blur stick under a BB cream (that does not have silicone in it), and it works well. :)

Agreed, I think the drops messed with it. While the elf foundation isn’t my absolute go to it’s pretty good and manages to not break apart on my oily skin.
As soon as she added the drops I legitimately said “Noooooo” out loud.I love Tati but I hate when she mixes products like that when she doesn’t know what works and what doesn’t.i wish she would have done half face with drops and other without!!!
I haven’t watched all the way through yet, but reading the comments I’ve guessed the foundation didn’t work out for you- I am another vote for giving it a 2nd chance- I love it for everyday, I mix it with the IT CC Cream often and it’s very long lasting.

I love watching your makeup programmes. I am 58. I adore makeup and always have. I love to still learn. My health is not good and I get terrible sweats which drench me. I really enjoy your tips on helping to make your makeup last well. I am very very pale skinned, so it's not good to put on too much colour but I find it soon fades generally making me look really white!

Mattie agreed! It's one of my favourite foundations when I'm a little tanned! It's always smooth and applies beautifully on me. It also outlasted an 18 hour day in retail on black Friday. I can't be mad over it lol

MirandaV V she used the clarisonic brush head. And foundation mixtures take time to break apart most of the time. For example I used two of my holy grail foundations mixed today because one is too dark, one too light right now, and at 7am when I left the house my skin looked bomb. My 1pm my nose was a crusty, broken apart mess. It doesn't happen instantly.

Not hating just pointing something out. How can you make a final decision that you don’t like the foundation....you mixed it with an oil, didn’t powder your face and then sprayed a dewy skin mist. I feel like ANY foundation would ware off under those circumstances

I liked your eye shadow, it is different than your normal but still neutral enough to wear in a professional setting. However, I definitely agree with everyone asking you to try the foundation again without the drops and with your normal primer. It doesn't seem fair to judge the wear time of a foundation when there are so many extraneous variables.

Alli Marie I feel you there and I know they sell things online but when it comes to me ordering products online I tend to go with Hiram brands and elf happens to be one of those brands that I don't want to take the time to pay for because I expect it to be in my stores. Since they have some really no frills packaging and marketing it can be harder to find shades or see exactly what you want online. I would just rather lose my online purchases to bigger ticket items

This look is so nice! Very casual and bright. The bold deep pink lipstick was super flattering on you and really brought out the bubbly happy side of tati.
I would ask that whenever you're doing a first impression of a palette that you would *swatch all the shades for us.* Different colors have different formulas, and the colors you gravitate aren't always the ones I'm interested in. For example in this palette I wanted to know how the darker smokey shades would look, especially the blue and green xx

I love ELF Cosmetics! It's such a good brand for people with budgets, like myself, and can't buy those higher end brands. All their products work so well for me and doesn't break the bank.
Heart's highlighter is truly one of the best drugstore ones out there.
You may want to try the foundation again without adding the self tanner drops in... I’d be interested to see if that makes a difference, I’ve heard really good things about that foundation, at that price point it’d be worth giving it another shot

Maybe try the foundation without the drops and a normal primer because I have that foundation and it is smooth and has lasted 10 hrs in my skin while looking flawless. Hope you try this!
Really, I noticed that oil changes texture of some foundations, it becomes a kind of whipped, so maybe this foundation is one of them.
I have oily skin and despite looking very smooth when I first put it on, this foundation just doesn't have any lasting power on me at all. It completely breaks down after like 4 hours
V H Huh, I have combo skin but I get very oily on my nose and this foundation works well with it. It isn’t my favorite, but it’s very good. But some people like different things!!

Yes 100%. I have the foundation and it isn’t fluffy at all. The foundation is great for me and I love it. It lasts me all day. I’m pretty sure it was the drops.
For a first impression I don’t think it was fair to combine the oil with the foundation.. totally threw off the end result

grace m exactly what I was thinking. This is one of my favorite foundations and I've never had it puff up. It is a little thicker but not hard to blend and lasts all day on me. I do have dry skin though. And I just don't like 1st impressions that are the final say on a product. You use it once and that's it nope it's not good? No that's not a fair assessment of a product. I love Tati so much but lately these types of things have been really making me not want to watch her for any type of review based video.
Christy Fielding that’s a pet peeve of mine too. If you’ve never used a product before it should be used alone to get an accurate impression. I really hope she tries it again. It’s a great foundation alone, but I like to mix it with my It Cosmetics CC cream. I have combo skin and don’t have any problems with it melting off like she did.

Elf was the first makeup brand I bought and tried on my own when I was like 11/12. Every since it’s had a special spot in my heart. They have some really awesome products and is definitely underrated!
The lip crayons aren't new, they've been around for years. Also, don't buy them in the set it's a massive rip off. They're cheaper individually in the black packaging. They're charging more for the rose gold packaging.

I've used that foundation for a long time and I think it would have been great if you didn't add the oil and if you would have set your whole face. It would have been nice to see how the foundation performed with your normal face makeup for a first impression.

My fave foundation, I do run out quick and noticed I was repurchasing too often. Turns out it’s less than 1oz, and you get .68oz for $6 so that’s about $12 for 1oz which is the standard for most liquid foundations, so I do find it on the pricey side for elf, but I love it so much that I keep buying it.
I have very sensitive skin & probably about 95% of products out there break my face out horribly. I tried ELF about a year ago, & I have been using it ever since. Rarely any breakouts now & when there are they are very minimal. Love ELF! Great video.

Hi Anne, I think you'll love their palettes. They are so affordable & have a few Mad for Mattes. Very blendable. I think it has 12 colors, just 1 has 10 but they give you a brush with 2 sides for your eyebrows. Tati is so pretty, beautiful skin & features. Love u xoxo

Tati, have you heard of Maskcara’s IIID (3D) Foundation? 4 creams you put on in 1 layer & it’s a highlighting & contouring foundation. I am super intrigued, but would love to know your thoughts on it.
Also when you order 4 tins, you get a free magnetic compact to put them in. Then when you run out of something, you can just replace the 1 tin you ran out of. Like I said, I’m super intrigued!
camismith22 Cara beat her in the Allure beauty blogger competition-so she probably won't review it. Also, Tati said she stays away from Mary Kay, Avon, and other independently sold cosmetic brands (although she has come out with a FEW reviews of specific products) to put women who sell this product in jeopardy.
I also know she doesn't prefer cream products, and because I use IIID foundation myself, and know there's a learning curve-wish she wouldn't review it. I'm sure she would give it a negative review (no one really likes it first try, to be fair) and she goes through so much product to review, would never revisit it to give it another fair shake.
But it IS my foundation, I have a serious brand loyalty (I've been following Cara and Tati since before the Allure competition) and don't want to be left with a bad feeling knowing Tati doesn't love it.
Joy Kelso, I would think with how much Tati builds up other RUclipsrs that she wouldn’t refuse to try Maskcara’s IIID Foundation just because Cara beat her in the Allure Beauty Blogger Contest. I would think that Tati would celebrate and be happy for Cara. I’ve also been following Tati & Cara for years. I think very highly of both women. I love Tati for her open & honest reviews, and I would expect nothing less if she did choose to try the Maskcara IIID Foundation. I also realize she doesn’t love cream foundations, but just because she doesn’t love them, doesn’t mean her viewers have the same opinion. If something doesn’t work for her, she states her opinion, but usually says, “but hey, this may work for you, and if you end up loving it great!” That’s one of the reasons I love Tati and value her opinions so much.
I would love to see a segment of what's in your travel/to-go makeup bag; i.e. products you take with you in your purse on the day-to-day. I always end up bringing a large makeup bag with me which takes up a ton of space in my purse (and its not a small one by any means). Thank you!

Ive said this a few times on your recent videos, but please try products multiple times. It is nearly impossible to get any true idea of a product after 1 use. For instance here you had problems with the foundation, had you tried it without the drops, or with a different primer yoou can get a much better idea.

KrystyLaFloof I know I am not Tati, but I own the Wet N Wild Goth-O-Graphic collection and it is all super amazing except for the metallic liquid lipstick!! I don’t know what they did differently in the metallic liquid lipsticks for this collection but they are awful; it’s not like their other liquid lipsticks that are super pigmented and amazing!! The Goth-O-Graphic ones are streaky and very sheer like a lipgloss instead of lipstick!! The cream eyeshadows are beautiful!! The real winners of the collection though are the highlighters especially the loose highlighter Moon Tears; it’s super beautiful and blinding!! Hope this helps you!! 💜💜

I literally just bought that foundation two days ago and was looking to see if you reviewed it. I personally like it a lot. Mainly because I’m not a full coverage queen so I do a light layer just to even out my skin tone and it lasts long enough for what I need it for 😌 I also looooove the packaging.
I LOVE that foundation!! Same color and I’m oily! It stays like iron. It’s one of my 3 favorite drugstore foundations. Keep trying that foundation as one try isn’t enough time to tell. You might use matte setting spray. The lip colors are fab too. All things from ELF are great IMO. PLEASE try it again and give it a chance. They’ve stepped it up. 😘

I add lots of oil to my tinted moisturizer...depending where you live, you may need it...I don't think this is weird at all. What I love about Tati is that she tells you what she is doing...so you can take or leave her opinion...she isn't hiding anything. Also, for me, adding oil to my tinted moisturizer has been a huge game changer this winter & I have had endless compliments since doing so...just a thought that we all have different ways of doing things!
skiyogagirl you probably don't add an oil before trying it alone though. I think that is people's point. You can't do a good review if you start playing chemist with the product you are trying for the first time. I add oil to some of my foundations too because I don't like how they wear by themselves. I only do that after I see how it looks and performs though.
