My freedom was taken from me for over six hours & my property stolen from me. I went to the Nassau County Office Building to file FOIL requests for public records to continue my investigation and the response received was despicable. The officer thinks it's OK to not know the law and just arrest people who haven't violated the law and let the courts sort it out. Of course he is violating people's rights without a valid reason for arrest and is not operating in good faith. But he doesn't care, he knows he won't be held accountable.

I am amazed the reaction of public servants to one who enters their "domain" with a camera!
Some react like their hair is on fire.
I work in an office that provides services to the public and is tax payer funded. Years ago there was a man who wanted to record while in the office. The front desk lady made a big deal about it. I said I would talk to him. He just wanted to submit some papers and asked if I could make a copy of them for him. I did. He thanked me and left. The front desk lady said “you know he has you recorded?” I said “what does the recording show? That I was respectful and helpful? I don’t have anything to hide”.
Simple as that.
Ppl are so paranoid, scared, and afraid nowadays it's crazy. How did we get here?
All while you guys were being recorded by security cameras too lol.

You see, as an employee, you are held to a different standard than the general public.
Much like you are required to follow a dress code at work, there is also an expectation that you remain calm and cordial while performing your duties at work.

@@OlYables A camera is a camera because ANYONE can FOIA request ANY state or government camera footage at any time via phone or email. If they don't want to be on his camera, then they need to simply do their job and not get involved with the semantics. Period.

I also found it very suspect that your question about who and what on the FOIA request should be KNOWN to all with an office SOP to show exactly the answers and procedures. But, with a reputation so bad, it's wonder they were able to do what they did for you ...............but relictantly.
