    PART 2:
    • GUIDE to Spacers, Lug ...
    Finally I've made a video explaining EVERYTHING about wheels and fitment. I go over what offset means, what lug patterns are, and how to read wheel and tires measurements and specs. This is only Part 1, Part 2 will go over Spacers, Hubcentric rings, Lug Bolts, Coilovers, etc. ENJOY!!

    a little more clarification for those who are watching, 245( tire size is 245 millimeters wide.) the 45 (your side wall) is 45% of the tire width.

      no problem, anything for car enthusiasts!

      god i wish i knew this when i bought tires, i got 195/50 50 is way to tall

    • @BillCollins53
      @BillCollins53 9 лет назад +3

      xxDelanoy7xx haha yeah sorry about that man. those are like stock tires. im guessing you were going for something more profile like 195/35?

  • @safwanhussaini3381

    That was the simplest shortest yet most effective explanation of offset I have ever gotten!!!
    Thank you for that!!!

  • @knifelover73
    @knifelover73 8 лет назад +42

    Something to note. The sidewall number (the middle number) is the percentage of sidewall compared to the tread width. So a 225/40/17 will be taller with more sidewall than a 195/40/17

      @DagoBrotherC 8 лет назад

      I don't know dick about cars. Exactly what number must I look at in order to tell if the extra tire I have will fit my car? Does the number have to be an exact match?

    • @knifelover73
      @knifelover73 8 лет назад

      It will be like 195/60/15 lay out, And it's best to go with an exact match, another may not fit.

    I praise you my good man. Been trying to figure out what the hell offset meant, like I knew it meant the tire/wheel would either stick out further or hide in your wheel well further but the numbers baffled me. Thank you

    Wow perfect explanations man! Tought me a couple now things today! So your off set is what can determine your poke? Say your off set was closer to the center you will have more poke. wheel spacers aside.
    Another thing is you should explain how or what tires to buy if you want to have them stretched across the rim.
    And awesome video! It's going in my favorites!

    Dude this was awesome. Thank you. I pretty much knew everything except “offset” and its still confusing lol. Because sometimes theres no #s. It just says (like on my 04 tacoma). Medium offset, high offset etc.... like it says for my truck “ 5 lug 4.5 inch or 114.3 High Positive Offset. “
    I have a set of wheels from a 2005 highlander I’m wondering if they fit.....they are. “5 lug 4.5 inch or 114.3mm Medium Offset.”.....?

    Like others have pointed out, sidewall number is the percentage of tire width, not a specific number. Also, to make it easier for some. To calculate mm's to inches, divide by 25.4, as there are 25.4 mms in an inch.
    Example 225/45R17
    225/25.4 = 8.85 so his tire width is 8.85 inches
