Whuzza!
Of the later songs by Billy Joel, this is my absolute favourite.
I think Tommy did it very well and did it justice - his voice is just the right range for this.
And the song also takes up with the metal additions very well.
I could have done w/o the bombastic „opera“ vibes of Tommie‘s voice in the higher registers, though, as it is essentially a raw and simple song about people living a hard life but unable to let go of it.
You should check it out at times. 🙂
As for age of the song: The song was released in 1993 as part of the album River of dreams.
Anyways: I just stepped by to let you know that Saltatio Mortis have released a new song in collaboration with Blind Guardian. If you liked Pray to the Hunter (which I think you did), I am pretty sure you will like this one, too. Even if it is entirely in German (as the video is - well, Storytelling in itself). 😊

The Downeaster Alexa is from the Storm Front Album, NOT The River of Dreams Album (I know because I owned a copy of Storm Front in '89).

@@James-jl9lm Hmmh... now you make me wonder whether the song was on both albums or my memory was blurred...
Looked it up and, yepp - my memory obviously mixed both albums together, as I would have sworn "We didn't start the fire" had _also_ been on "River of dreams" (which it obviously wasn't either).

I'm sorry, but why did you close the video?
Remember, everything is simple - the video image has copyright restrictions ONLY for TV shows, even TV concerts, and especially video clips are not blocked.
