Glad to see some backstory here, and that Leo's departure was mutually beneficial. I gotta say though, Leo really drew me in to lucky chops on the early subway videos and his crazy dance moves. While the music is still fantastic, I miss some of that electricity that he brought to the stage. Good luck to everyone, life is a crazy ride.
Same. Those types of videos were recommended to me a year or two ago, and Leo was what really drew me to the band, and made me want to switch from tenor sax to bari (which never actually happened), but I’m happy for them now. I miss Leo as a part of the band, but the new bari player is great too. I will say, though, that, while still great, it did feel like the band was missing something during that time when they didn’t have a bari sax player. Don’t get me wrong, I still love some of the stuff that came out during that time, but I think the stuff with a bari sax is better, even if it’s not the extreme high energy that Leo brought.
I think, like me, a lot of people had their first Lucky Chops experience by watching subway videos, with Leo as an unmistakable part of the band (especially visually). So it makes sense that his departure not only was very noticeable, but misunderstood. I like the explanations and I thank you all for what you are doing for music and inspiring our youth. You are all extremely valuable to me and I hope you are doing what you love.
I'm glad that there was finally a formal discussion about the topic that people have been going crazy over for years. I'm happy that Leo finally got to share his reasons for it, and that there was mutual support and respect between everyone.
Everyone who said leo was a jerk or a jackass for leaving or anything bad twards him dont understand that they got a life too. True I wish he stayed with the band but I'm happy for him cuz he doing his own things and he's happy. Edit: I had typos 😂
It''s really nice to see you guys chatting it out and I appreciate you all being vulnerable like that :) You're all awesome musicians and, to a lesser extent, I can relate to this with my bands. I'm always gonna miss them. But Lucky Chops and Too Many Zooz are both incredible bands and I look forward to seeing what y'all make in the future. I just want you to do what is best for you musically and personally. Much love to all of you xx
Regardless of Leo leaving, I still feel love for both Lucky Chops and Too Many Zoos alike. People have to understand that famous people have the same feelings we do. Bottom line is we're all people and we all have to try and respect one another and our feelings.
I mean it's the same thing as anyone leaving a band and creating a new project. You don't need to dislike either. I follow both Lucky Chops and Too Many Zooz regardless of anything. Really not that hard to understand that performers are people too and go through changes as well. Both of the groups are successful and I wish the best for them.
Like I said on the stream, I think this was ultimately for the best for everyone. Leo P is a better fit for Too Many Zooz, and this allowed Adrian to join Lucky Chops, and he seems like he fit right in with Lucky Chops from the beginning. Leo and Adrian are both incredibly talented, but also have vastly different personalities, and I think they both fit well with the bands they're with now.
I just wanna say all of you are fantastic musicians, I hadn’t touched my trumpet in 15 years, saw the video of you guys playing I feel good/funky town and immediately went and broke it out, put it on repeat until I could play along (was very very rusty at first) and no matter path any of you choose I wanna thank you for that! Leo keep doing big things man your style is unique and awesome.
I think it's great seeing these folks play together and I'm really glad they all have had mutually supported paths even if they're not a full-time band with that particular lineup. Really hope to see you guys jamming again sometime if you have opportunity and will continue to enjoy both bands' work ☺️
And the most asked question on both channels is answered. I hope this clears things up for those who continually ask “where’s Leo”. Love you guy’s music and hope for the best for all of you! Much love from south Texas!
Big thanks to Lucky Chops and Leo P for both having the confidence to share this so maturely. I think I speak for everyone when I say that knowing why it happened is taking off a lot of weight everyone has been carrying for years now. So thank you.
A lot of the things Leo said reminded me of my first breakup. That just shows that things like this are hard in every way and the last thing someone needs is random strangers attacking them for their choices. I'm glad to see this and that there is no bad blood. Continue making awesome music all of you!!!
I discovered and binged Lucky Chops/Too Many Zooz/2saxy last night and at the end of it I thought how awesome is it that these people are all doing similar work in close enough proximity to work together frequently. How lucky are we to get to listen to all this incredible music by fantastically talented musicians, in every iteration they form! How can fans continue to ask for what they’ve already heard when it’s obvious all of these creators are bursting with music?? I personally can’t wait for everything that comes next from all of them
Whatever direction you all take ,either away from each other or stick together, you all are absolutely awesome people ! I've made a few videos like y'all's except I'm on every instrument. I so wish I could get people like y'all to play with ! ❤
Life. Changes. I’m glad that I got to hear them all. One day, hopefully I’ll get to see them in concert. Hope to jam someday too. They’re cool people, that have been blessed with fantastic talent.
I see that most brass players I know love Lucky Chops, but I personally am mostly hyped by Leo. I mean, I as a bass player really don't appreciate the skill of these players as much as someone who knows brass. I just found it cool to hear Jared Leto scream at the top of his lungs with a Bari sax.
I have been wondering for a while about this. So very glad it was mutual and positive and beneficial to everyone involved, and nothing dark and sinister. Love you all, please keep up the GREAT work! Peace, Love, and God Bless!
I'm amazed by the honesty of this explanation, I miss Leo in Lucky Chops but now I understand he misses it so much more than me. I think every serious adult understands the decision, you cannot perform in two jobs that are so demanding, be it in music or whatever. Respect guys, you're awesome either ways, just continue music!
Sending love to all of you! Big Swiss fan since the early Subway videos from 2015 ❤️ And Leo I watched your performance on the BBC Proms it’s just incredible how talent can bring you from the subways to one of the most prestigious stages in the world. And your performance was insane as ever! Love what you’ve become and also Lucky Chops you guys managed to replace Leo with another musicians who didn’t try to play like him but instead the transition was well handled :) I think it’s as good as it was then and the new songs are incredibly cool to hear (perfect for study even though some people might prefer calm music - not my case 😉). Hope you’ll come some day play in my country ❤️

I can agree with all of you. Life has changes, we make those changes, for our own better. We leave a part of us behind, but shape ourselves for the future. Leo and Lucky Chops, your memories are there, and always will be. I listen to your old and new music daily, I enjoy it. But you've moved on, and so has Lucky Chops. I remember watching you back in around 2013/2014, in the NYC subway. I never knew you then. Across all your records, me as a 15 year old, your music not only is something I listen to, it's something I can also mentally enjoy. Don't let the world stop you. You are your passion, you are your music, and mostly, you are yourself. Live the way live gives you. And you're doing a perfect job of it.
Wow. Just wow. I'm so happy for you guys. After watching this, I watched your song Best Things and remembered all the amazing times you guys and all of your fans have had and will continue to have.
Really great to see you all talking together and thank you all for being so open about the change in direction of Leo and Chops. I imagine that a band that plays together is like a marriage. But most marriages do not have the extra stress of fans and management to contend with. So really it is more amazing that you stay together as long as you do in the first place. Thanks for the insight and as always thanks for the music.
It’s good that this got cleared up for the sake of you guys. It sucks you had to put up with the constant crap from some people. It’s great seeing some of my favourite musicians being so open and respectful. Hope yall are well
その楽しみの一部に僕がついていきたいと思います^^ I wish you'll play at Osaka Japan one day, Thanks all of you guys
I live in Russia(Russian), but I was tormented by this question. The first time I saw him was on the subway, playing with an African-American. Then I saw him with you. I think we lost more when Leo left. I don't know English very well and I write it through a translator. I like your band very much, since I am a brass player myself (I play the trumpet). I'm not used to the new line-up yet, but I may get used to it soon. The trumpeter! I'm sorry, I don't know your name, but I want to tell you That you play the trumpet super well! You always make me sick! Good luck to You and all of you in the future! You are very cool
Damn. This is painful to see, but I'm glad Leo had a chance to address it. I went through leaving a band last year and it feels so much like a breakup. I needed to do it to progress personally but it still sucks. Always will remember getting to see Leo with Lucky Chops at CNU in 09/2016, only about 3 months before he announced his departure. I hope to get chances to see TMZZ and the current Lucky Chops lineup sometime soon.
I feel genuinely bad for all of them to have to deal with all this negativity. Yes, Leo P and Lucky Chops was an era of its own, but that doesn’t mean they’re done flourishing as musicians now that that era is over. I personally love how different Leo P has become in his music since and just as much so, I love all the new things Lucky Chops has learned since. I’m unsure if I just haven’t truly noticed it before, but I’m seeing a lot more connection between the trombone sound and the tenor. Which I personally, didn’t see before, and I’m really glad it’s there now. So while it does suck they can’t play together anymore. It brings me great joy to see that they are still doing so well as musicians, especially with how much I have looked up to their music over the years. I genuinely hope the best for both groups :)
Wow, people really need to know how to read and understand. 👀 Leo made it clear as day since 2016, that he left because he couldn't handle the exhausting job of playing in two bands. 🤦🏾♂️ Both bands even mentioned that they were still friends, and that it wasn't done as a result of bitterness. Hearing that frequent toxic comments caused the bands to more distant than they wanted to was just plain sad.
Interesting conversation. I get the relationship separation thing and I think that Leo articulated that really well. As a fan musically I think it was positive for me: Lucky Chops with LP, great band. post LP still a great band ( loved your gig in Manchester last year). Too many Zooz another fantastic band. So fo me, although I emphasise with your losses, I feel I’ve gained musically ( ie one more amazing band).
Any good big band of the 30s and 40s, was a breeding ground; soloist left and formed their own band, creating more great bands... same with modern brass, now we have two great bands. Point is, Lucky Chops is still a great band with great musicians, and Too Many Zoos is a great band, with a different arc. I support all of you during these odd times, because we need the music
nothing wrong with leaving amicably, people go their separate ways and do their own things. Congrats to Leo P and Lucky Chops for putting together awesome jazz music.
Ever think about touring rural America? How about Michigan’s thumb? Lucky chops with Leo was magical. It was for a moment in time. Some songs are only played once and are so meaningful. Better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all.
Leo P has swag for days...he is very talented and is obviously all about his craft. I appreciate the route he took with Too Many Zooz and his self expression. I went and saw Lucky Chops because of Leo P but unfortunately Leo had already left. It was still a good show. Dude is a monster on horn and I wish him well. He has the gift...good on ya, brother!
As sad as it made me to see him leave, the band is lucky chops with out him, it's got the same energy, and he formed his band which is now another one of my favorite bands
I can only see how it would feel to go through this. And masseges from random poeple keep reminding you guys of what happened long before. Must be hard. BUT, in the other hand, there is people who truly love LC and Leo. I personally have several tracks from the "Lucky Chops" that changed to the better. I know its easy to say but, don't let the negativity overtake and keep on going guys. 😁
Wow! Huge fan here in Brazil of you two guys. Pleaseeeee! That Adele cover was so beautiful! And all the songs when Leo was at that green hair phase : ) Play back together, at least in a Christmas special with Too Many Zoos: ))
There should be nothing negative to say about these young fellows, and respect each others decisions. Let music do the talking for everyone to love and stop the negative comments about why he left, or this person left. These guys are all great!
People have called leo a jerk and all this bc he left the lucky chops. I don't think ppl should hate on him for wanting to pursue a higher carreer and a better opportunity. I think it was a good choice for leo to leave because hes had alot of success with too many zooz and the lucky chops has been able to open up and recieve new members and gain an amazing member who fits the part. even though people say it was a bad choice, the lucky chops leo and too many zooz have become as iconic and as powerful as they are, and to me it was a very good choice.
hi Matt Doe and Leo P and Daro Behroozi hi my name is Fletcher Maddex I am in a band with you and some additional personnel Fletcher Maddex - Guitar Mick Micky - Drums William Bassan - Bass Peppermint Lehee - Bass Jesse Colomb - Trumpet Lennie Lamone - Bari Sax Dario Beret - Tenor Sax Mike Fontanelle - Flute
Living in each others pockets is the hardest thing for all bands and it does cause tension and stress and no longer becomes fun, but never say never Leo because one day the pain goes away and the fun can return. Screw the managers screw the fans screw the pressure just old friends jamming together and having fun because if you are not having fun then the music dies.
Hey Leo, be happy man. Music is a power of its own and if it’s taking you away form LC so be it. You should follow your happiness and keep making great music that makes you happy. That goes for every band member regardless of band. Just be happy and go to where the music gives you love. You’re all top musicians and the world loves you all. No hard feeling bro. Just be you and do what you need to do to enjoy your passion. I love you man, you’re one special guy. Be happy Yh 😉
A lot of the people that introduced me to Lucky Chops have also kind of distanced themselves form the band after Leo left. I'm probably the last of the group that still listens to Lucky Chops. Unfortunatly I never really got to like TMZ. What makes Luck Chops so special is that they can get such a full and rounded sound out of so few instruments. TMZ always feels very thin even though it's very well produced but I feel like it's always missing something...

I'm glad you guys posted this. This will clear up most of the confusion.
yea same
I never knew what was going on inside Leo
Yeah maybe people will stop fucking saying that they want Leo p back
Yea this really helped me understand
Leo p with natural hair color looks illegal
It doesn’t look entirely natural, but yeah
Oh, that’s not natural
That’s not natural he bleached it
He looks like iDubbbz with his moustache
check out his early tmz subway videos lmao
I'm glad that there was finally a formal discussion about the topic that people have been going crazy over for years. I'm happy that Leo finally got to share his reasons for it, and that there was mutual support and respect between everyone.

Now we can finally shut up the fake fans spamming “WheRe’S lEo????”
Don't be so sure, the chance they see this video is small considering they didn't notice he was gone all this time
Without Leo... No-one would know The Chops. That's a fact.

If Leo left Too Many Zooz it probably wouldn't exist. Lucky Chops can still play and function without Leo.
Leo p is the goat
Thank you so much for humanizing this topic
Wow, people really need to know how to read and understand. 👀 Leo made it clear as day since 2016, that he left because he couldn't handle the exhausting job of playing in two bands. 🤦🏾♂️ Both bands even mentioned that they were still friends, and that it wasn't done as a result of bitterness. Hearing that frequent toxic comments caused the bands to more distant than they wanted to was just plain sad.
Absolutely true!
Keep the music alive honesty i play trombone and it couldn’t be the same realizing you give me inspiration at the age of 32
Interesting conversation.
Respect the choices of everyone, no matter what 👌🏽
Awh I have met everyone in this video!! Super friendly and crazy talented people!
As sad as it made me to see him leave, the band is lucky chops with out him, it's got the same energy, and he formed his band which is now another one of my favorite bands
4:34 Man's got the chug jug
The way leo look 2 years ago compared to today's day is so different it make me feel like that is not the leo I knew 2 years ago
There should be nothing negative to say about these young fellows, and respect each others decisions. Let music do the talking for everyone to love and stop the negative comments about why he left, or this person left. These guys are all great!
I love leo p/ too many zooz AND lucky chops very much and im glad to hear there's no bad blood or anything. Love to see both parties doing well!!
So much nostalgia
here is some band member names the 20th Century Brasshouse Jefferson Failing - Trumpet
the 60's Pop Beachhouse Mark Midget - Drums
I Hope some day they all will play together again. Lucky chops are the best!!

Daro with that haircut and facial hair could literally play Jesus in a movie.
This might be one of the best comments I’ve ever seen.
THANK YOU SO MUCH I COULDNT RECOGNIZE HIM AT FIRST
HE LOOKS SO GAMER
People have called leo a jerk and all this bc he left the lucky chops. I don't think ppl should hate on him for wanting to pursue a higher carreer and a better opportunity. I think it was a good choice for leo to leave because hes had alot of success with too many zooz and the lucky chops has been able to open up and recieve new members and gain an amazing member who fits the part. even though people say it was a bad choice, the lucky chops leo and too many zooz have become as iconic and as powerful as they are, and to me it was a very good choice.
Ooooo this is gonna be good
Wish you guys all the best and success.

Yea...
Good thing tmz and lucky chops are collaborating
lucky chops is a dope band....Leo p is legendary two different class musicians
I’m just glad Leo didn’t leave because of bad blood between lucky chops
The question that's been haunting them for years. Lol
As someone who has been a little confused for the past couple years, cheers!
Maybe the questions will stop now.
A dream long awaited
Y’all are all awesome!
Bangerang hair leo P is the leo P i was introduced to BANGERANG!!!
Really appreciate the honesty.
I’m just happy everyone gets to do what they want
04:33 Excuse me while I take a drink out of the entire water cooler jug.
You lot are such great musicians. Too Many Zooz are brilliant, Lucky Chops are brilliant.
Very Good ❤❤
