WOW!!! That engine is a work of art!!! When I tear down my YZ, I am definitely getting the cryo heat treatment of the trans done...and now thanks to Uncle Tony I know how to treat a Trans!!! Sorry to hear about your elbow, I am just glad you didn't go into detail about how you got that injury...lol!!! I love watching these videos and now it will give me a target when I rebuild what will end up being one bad ass 88 YZ250!!!

Right on Todd! It’s a great idea for for your old girl, keep her on the track or longer.
Tony and I have definitely been fondling some Trannies lately 😂
Despite popular belief, I didn’t get hurt in the shower. Went a little too heavy and a little too deep on some tricep presses at the gym. Hurt like hell! Thankfully I was able to get my 450 around the track with minor irritation as it’s a muscle group turns out 😆
Thanks for catching all the video drops, I really appreciate it

Great video and tutorial on the clutch install !! I love the tip on greaseing the gaskets - it brought back memories as in the mid 80s I worked at a small independent motorcycle snowmobile repair shop and as a teenager it was the greatest job ever but the owner taught me to grease gaskets during assembly and it saved me a ton as I was learning and had to take things apart again - my boss was brilliant and I have stayed friends with him since - fabulous engine bad azz - thank you Charles and Uncle Tony for all you do for dirt community ❤

Nice video presentation. These RM250’s are quite remarkable machines and have a great racing pedigree. Michele Pichon
Was back to back 2 time MXGP Champion on one. He almost three petted in 2004 but Everts on the 450 4 stroke edged him out for the title. Ricky Carmichael was also killing it on these RM250’s. Travis Pastrana was asked in an interview what was the best motocross bike he ever raced and he said without a doubt his RM250.

Many more more reasons to love the RM250! I always say they could bring it back right now, 2008 model, no changes, and sell out!

i remember on my old 99 RM250, There was markings on the basket that had to align with these markings on the case it was completely counterintuitive as to why they needed to line up. it made no sense to me which tooth lined up inside. as long as it was seated and lined up properly. I learned the hard way. basically when I got done with replacing the whole clutch. I let the clutch out and it wouldn't fully release all the way. like it was still slipping as if the lever was halfway out.. I adjusted the cable up down left right and center. i was scratching my head. nobody knew what was wrong. I was at the dealership with my buddy in Redwood City one day randomly at the old MDK shop before they became MDK. But there was a Suzuki tech. this real old guy and I explained my problem to him. not really expecting much of an answer. And he goes. oh yeah, just markings on the basket that need to align with markings on the case.. I was like wait what the hell? he's like. yeah I know.. it's completely nonsense but it needs to line up otherwise it won't work right. as soon as I got home I dug back into it and sure enough that's what it was! I've never experienced that with another bike!

Oh how i start the washer for clutch, i thread the nut on and mark the lock washer with a sharpie where the end of nut is.
I then take off the lock washer and put it in a vice and bend that edge I marked with sharpie upwards a bit. That makes it so much easier to lock and press against the nuts when you go to install it. Then I use a brass punch or vice grips to fully finish it off and make the plate touch the nut once nuts torqued to spec.

I just bought some axle blocks for my RM. AS3 from the UK.
Wouldn't another proper fix be a longer brake side axle spacer?

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  2 месяца назад

Keep us posted on your findings 💪 I think I see where you’re going with a longer spacer (to tuck the axles 22mm portion behind the swingarm edge?)
I’d say that because all axle blocks (until now) are 22mm that they would all be extra sloppy. And, that small amount of extra spacer may cause the rotor to drag in the caliper. Maybe not.
But that’s still a great way to think outside the box.

Thanks buddy. I appreciate you taking the time to watch. I do not have a paper manual, not sure they ever made one?
But I do have a trick for you:
After owning a 2018, 2020, and now a 2023 model… I totally feel your pain. I could never ever get that CD to work as well.
Somebody asked the same question on Facebook and a forum, and someone there knew how to access the data inside of it.
Basically, the guy said we needed to use the old ass version of Internet explorer.
It works! If you can get or download yourself an old version of Internet explorer (which is now called something else now when you are actually using it, I think?) you’ll be able to open the disc and browse through it justlike the paper manual the older bikes used to come with.
I still wish there was paperback version, but it gets the job done. I hope that helps!
