I went through a 3rd of the game, got all the shells and weapons, and beat the first martyer all without having the tarnished seal. I figured picking up a chain holding down a giant monster in a souls like wasn’t a very good idea. Was shitting bricks once I actually looked it up and found out what it gave you.
Also, sipping the divine tar from Sester Genessa will completely fill your health bar while resetting the enemies, even if you don't upgrade your shell. This can be useful in any situation that you have already wasted one life of your shell since it'll also reset, when you're low on healing items and will be particularly useful after completing each temple cause you'll be having hordes of enemies after you.
This game was developed by a smaler indie studio Cold Symmetry and I think it was announced during the PC Game show which explains why so many have missed it :p The game is greatly recommended! Awsome graphic/sound and gameplay. Crazzy to think how it can be an indie studio behind it.
Saw the hint of the tower and then was like hell no. I'm going to explore the right way by going the opposite way. Encounterd goblins that jump on me and killed me four times instant regret. But I took them on one by one pushed through. Read a book in a creepy place on an altar and battled my shell. After that I found a new shell could not figure out how to get it of and all the stupid poison shit. So now I'm going to head to the tower.
Thanks for the refresher. I played this years ago- i was on ng+3 -but forgot everything, and after upgrading to the ps5 version, my save data would not transfer, so I’ve had to start from scratch again. Idk why the save data won’t transfer. Anyway, I love this game! And appreciate the tips!!🤓
Ps, parrying....is it even possible because I have never had a problem doing it in other games but have given up even trying in this! Heck, I completed Sekiro so I’m not exactly a newbie to this genre! £25 down the drain.

Saying you can harden anytime is misleading, there is a cooldown after hardening. Otherwise you'd just continually harden. Things like mushrooms take 5 real world minutes to re-spawn.

I recommend finding all shells and weapons first than do the dungeons. It'll be easier that way Edited: bc when you have a gland trust me it's annoying you won't have to do anything but run you'll see

You need to fill up the chunks for it to stay, otherwise it will go back to zero. You have 4 chunks if you look close, it will stay only when you fill up a single chunk.

It has nothing to do with the PS4 Pro not being able to handle it. It’s just poor optimization on the port. Not surprising though because it’s a small dev team.

Dezert Punk Just look at PS exclusives, which are consistently the best looking games around; so, I don’t think hardware is the issue. The issue is that you need a lot of money and time to optimize console ports to their absolute best, and that’s hard for a small dev team. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I’m thankful it’s even on console. *Update* : They just released a PS4 Pro patch, which apparently improves occlusion, lighting, and particles. I’m going to check it out now.
@SonOfOdin I've beaten all the souls games numerous times and this game is hard. I guess it's the controls and combat that is kinda weird compared to to dark souls. Either way I'm having a tough time with this game.
I found the start of this to be hard, but once you are used to it, it's a lot easier than Soulsbornes. I've killed 2 bosses so far, and only needed 5 attempts between the both of them. Some of the SoulsBorne bosses I needed entire evenings to do!

But you didn't even mention that you need to hold the "confirm" button to upgrade both shell and weapons, gave me days of confusion and the only one that said about it is a game article..... Like wtf, your medium should be more informative and helpful but this you forgot to say this f@#$ing tiny little very important detail.......
Just looking at the button prompt in game would show you holding it fills a meter around it. This happens in so many games to make sure you don’t miss click something potential very expensive, not sure how you missed it. Totally on you for missing that.
And they ended up better than them. If 15 people manage to make a similar version they're clearly more talented since From Software have way more people... Lol (insert clown emoji)

I finally made my way into another dungeon and then got lost trying to get back to Fallgrim Tower
This is how long it took me to get out of the starting area in DS3
DS2 was a sandbox map so I just thought there was a path near the nexus
I finished game without parry and upgrades

If u use the mushroom while poisoned 1st time, u instantly fill up familiarity and get the immunity effect

Item familiarity is an amazing concept! I've never played a game that made me want to use items so much!
One tip I'd give is when you get hard, you can hold it indefinitely, it's a great way to regain stamina & continue with combos

This game is actually kicking my ass so far (beat DS, DS3, and Bloodborne.) Got 2 shells so far and it's still beating me.
In the same boat as you. It get’s easier when you find a play style you like.
