It’s currently 1:26am 5/13/19 just got done doing laundry, did about 500 push-ups and now I’m sitting back knocking down a Powerade taking a train ride through center city. I love these videos 😂

I moved to central PA in 2006. I last rode the El in the summer of 2006. I love the train and the ride but the folks riding were quite scary. I always had my gun with me when travelling around Philly. I worked for SEPTA from 1995 to 1999. Terrible employer for sure.
Cosmo AKA Matthew I’m not waiting I’m 13 but I know someone who works for septa. He said about 1 or 2 years for a wait. I’m sorry to hear that you still are waiting.
@@kevinhoward9593 The tunnel from 45th to 22nd (1955) and 2nd to east portal (1975) are newer than the BSL. The tunnel from 22nd to 2nd (1907-08) is older than the BSL.
Nope, it never once occurred to SEP-DUUHHHH to have the Almond Joys (Budd) rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen like NYCTA did the R32s. The Almond Joys would have flown down this El. They were, even with the lack of A/C, a flat-out better railcar.
It wasn't always. when they had block signals it used to take 45-53 minutes to cross the entire line. Once SEPTA upgraded to ATC it made things faster because it gave the sensors control of the signals and distance of trains. (if you notice the lack of signals that's a sign of the ATC. Also the tweeting sound you hear is the speed controls saying he's going to fast.)
Does everyone remember the previous era of 30th Street Station, it was fine till SEPTA is retooling and improving the station in preparation for the SEPTA Metro proposal
Tip for Philly. Only ride the Subway (BSL and MFL) during rush hour. Never ride the Broad Ridge Spur. NHSL and Trolleys are fine bc you are always in earshot of a driver.
@Tom Garbo system isn't working now due to a cyber hack so it's not a management issue. I agree SEPTA has issues that need to be worked out, but the whole company itself is not at fault and your animosity obviously stems from something else other than just that or you wouldn't use it at all. And crying about it on RUclips doesn't solve the problem either. Do you attend the public hearings, do you send in suggestions to the customer service outlets downtown? I do and best believe that, as well as knowing who to talk to, gets results. Maybe you should do that and not rant online.

Brings back the memories of being 3 years old in Northeast Philly...
Traffic Nerd I spent alot of time in NE Philly when I was a kid but I'm from Connecticut.
Having lived in both Philadelphia and Upper Darby, I've taken that ride so many times.

Nice video ride into Philly from an Upper Darby resident's view.
I remember when they took out the fairmont station while the Spring Garden and I-95 were being built

Only two cities in the US have broad gauge systems. BART is the other.
Very nice work! Thanks for the ride.
Nice video, my city, my kinda place: )
ugh 8 year's before you can operate these trains. I'm patiently waiting though
How does that work? Is there a process before Septa employees can begin operating the trains?
Christopher Daniels yes, you need to become certified and they need to train you and their is a lot more thing that I can’t think of.

But you gotta work buses before you can transfer to the line. I have family and friends that work for SEPTA.
only other US rail to use under running third rail is NY Metro North RR
Brings backs memories of summers spent in Philly.
This looks like the broad street line, even though these subway tunnels have been around for over 100 years.
The BSL was built in the 20s. those tunnels are far younger then the MFL from 15-2nd street.

RedArrow73 the automated voice is Iconic on this train though.

They were too far gone. Would've been more than a new car. As crappy as these cars are, they run.
Subway sure is fast on this line

It's not that bad
That horn though. I've never heard any horn like that before. It's kinda catchy. Does anyone know what type of horn or whistle that is?
Loud and annoying.
@@kevinhoward9593 lol I live in Philly when I'm on a train I get scared as heck when I hear that horn XD
That's a former A train. They got rid of A and B stops this year.
It was on the 4th stop at like 4 mins.. Lol
jpgm2015 skip stop train probably.
Yup, A stop train.
They just got rid of the skip stops not that long ago.
So am I a moron (well, I really am) or do the subways not have lights? I couldn't see shit in the tunnel
It was just the lousy camera.
They do but the windows are tinted and the tunnel lights are dim.
Very few people waiting for the train. Was this filmed on a Sunday?
its an A train probably operating at the very end of Peak Service.
A trains only ran during weekday rush hours.
it's that A or B?
ThePandaTrain7 "A" train.
Given that she kept repeating "A train", I'm guessing it was the A.
@Tom Garbo it's actually faster now since you don't wait for an A or B to clear a station ahead of you.

Was this filmed by a person in the seat next to the driver`s cab?
Yup.
Only way to get that view.
That shit shaeky
Nice rolling stock but those horns though (cringe) .........
Whistles.
They're not horns.
