- Welcome to the farm!!
Now this may seem like a simple thing to show. Some will say everybody knows how! But guess what? They don’t! So before I teach how to can them (next video) I thought I would share how to cook them from their dry stage. Cooking Pintos (or any other dry bean).
1.Overnight soak method
You can soak 12-18 hours. Then they are ready to cook. If you aren’t ready to cook when they are soaked, just place in the refrigerator until you are prepared. They will be just fine.
I just soaked overnight one night and the next night I cooked overnight in the slow cooker. So very easy and this is the easiest way for me.

Makes my mouth water right now.
Thank you for sharing your video. I just got two pounds of pinto beans and I already have a pound in my pantry so I wanted to do something with the extra two pounds. I’m putting them on to soak now! Your video was very informative thank you for sharing 😊
I personally don't like pinto beans but I absolutely love white northern beans with cornbread, onions, sliced onions and tomatoes along with sliced cucumbers. Yummy

@@ourforeverfarm No you are! I said it first! Lol 🤪
Wow, idk why I always think we need a meat paired with every meal. Beans are darned cheap and delicious. My family may wonder if I lost it but I think we are fixing to have some beans soon. I think we serve em over 1/4 cup or so of rice mmmm!
I love them over rice. That sounds so good right now!!!
Refried pintos with cheese and salsa😋...thank you for sharing. 🙋♀️
I use my crockpot for pinto beans but I also add seared venison neck and a small ham hock with onions and carrots. Love your videos!🥰
Yum!!! Thank you for watching.
Val, one think I can cook is pinto beans! But it took me years to get it right. LOL You'd think it was one of the easiest things in the world to cook, but I think I was in my late 40's or early 50's before I finally felt like they were just like my momma made.
I agree. It took me years too. Thank you so much for watching.
Good morning! Yum...one of my favorite meals, served just the way you did. I'll be there shortly and bring dessert 😁
What a beautiful kitchen you have!
I can’t believe I’m just seeing this. I missed your dessert. Giggle. Thanks for watching. Don’t forget to subscribe.
I like to not rinse beans more than once on Thursday night....then cook on Friday for dinner...then on Saturday I have a jet propelled free bubble bath! 🤪🤪🛁💥💨💥💨💥💨🌪 😂😂
Made me smile again!
@@ourforeverfarm Big grins! Good, I'm glad!
One of my husband's favorite meals, pinto beans and cornbread. We soak them overnight, however, my husband is proof that "Beeno" is still needed. 😄
Thank you for another wonderful video. Sweet Humter does eat good.
I love that. You made me laugh out loud. That’s so funny. Thank you for sharing!!! Giggle.

I soak all types of dried beans overnight also.
That’s the best way to do it.
Thank you for your recipes

My pleasure 😊 Thank you for watching!
Thank you very much. Great video.
You are welcome! And thank you.
You're beans look great! I suggest you try adding cumin to your beans!! I think you'll like it!!! Love your accent!!! Thanks!!!
I will try that! How much?? Thx for watching.
@@ourforeverfarm For 1 pound of beans half to 3/4 tablespoon. I'm one that likes my beans with the broth. It really enhances the flavor!! Merry Christmas!!
Thank you. You have given me some great tips. I love to learn. So you cook your beans in broth instead of water or are you saying you like broth in your beans like soup beans?
You're welcome. I use salt, cumin, finely chopped onions, and water. I do eat them like soup. The onions disintegrate and you can't even see them. Of course you can add more after if you like. The broth is heavenly!!!
And pickled green tomatoes too!
Yes! and they are so good. Thx for watching!
Take the gas out of the beans ?? Takes all the fun out of them...Haven't you heard...Beans beans are such a musical fruit...the more you eat...the more you toot...the more you toot...the better you feel...so yall eat some beans at every meal !
💯✌👍🤣😁🤠🎯
Yep. I’ve heard. Lol. Thank you for making me smile. Thx for watching.
One of our favorites!!
That looks absolutely delicious!!! Blessed you!
I have a newbie question. So if you soak them (the beans) overnight, how long would you cook them on the stovetop and for how long and size flame? Thank you for this video. Definitely helps us who are trying to learn to cook healthier things. Great biscuit video! Can’t wait to try it!
If you soak overnight you can have beans on the stovetop within an hour and a half. Crockpot is my secret weapon though. Lol. Enjoy those biscuits too. They are so good. Thank you for watching. Don’t forget to subscribe.
@@ourforeverfarm ok thank you very much.
There’s not as many rocks in the beans like there used to be!
I agree. But I found a couple in the bottom of the bag. Thank you for watching.
How long did you cook and what setting
Hi , do you have the pickled green tomato recipe ? Thank you
That plate is YOURS...its not SH's or mine. Wink wink We hate onions!! Haha 😝😝😁
How long did you cook it though?
rocks dropped to bottom of bag.. they will show up eventually !
Yep. I agree. I found some! Lol. Thx for watching.
Isn't it better to add salt about 30 minutes before the beans are done? I've heard that salt will make the beans not get tender
Val,
First let me say, "you are an excellent cook".
I believe that you forgot another way to de-gas the beans.
Either when soaking or cooking add ¼-½ teaspoon of baking soda to the water for every 1 lb of beans.
Awe. Well I had no idea. Thank you for telling me that. Great tip. And your kind words. Thank you. Means a lot. Thx for watching. Hope you subscribed.
Do Yankees not eat pinto beans?? Lol all the how-to videos are from Southerners
