Wish I would have watched this before I pulled my tach out of my 96 and swapped in a sportrac tach. So much information no one ever mentions in this single video.
Excellent & very insightful video. The Sport Trac had all sorts of unique features that the Ranger didn’t, whether it was the rear automatic window, silver trim bezels or the white face gauges. But speaking of cool looking gauges, have you seen the silver faces one off a 2003 Ranger XLT? Those look even cooler than the white ones if you ask me.
Thank you for the comment! whoa! I didn't know they made a silver face model. That would look amazing with the silver Ranger/sport track housing! Thank you so much for letting me know about that variant! I googled a picture and I am now on a mission to find one and swap it in!!
@@myrustlifeSorry for the late reply, but you’re welcome! I love mine that I installed in my ‘99 Ranger that originally had no tach exactly like yours, the new one looks so sweet though. And I considered adding a Sport Trac housing on mine too. Hope you can find one, I bought mine that was tested off Ebay, there’s a couple nice ones listed on there right now, if you need any links I’m more than happy to provide them for you. They’re pretty rare though, they were only on ‘03 Ranger XLT’s, no other year or trim level, but they are plug & play exactly like the Sport Trac cluster though, in fact they look the same as those do with the design & gauge print, except the gauges are silver, not white.
Excellent sir, thank you! I have a problem with my temp gauge and I can just replace that part or clean it and perhaps it will work... thanks a bunch again!
Excellent video for anyone who wants to do this gauge swap. The disassembly would be useful if you needed to change the direction of the little arrow that shows which side the gas tank is on as well (always a possibility with a body/chassis swap like this!). What a difference the different color makes - these look way more period-correct than the original plain black one you started with.
My tach is acting up on my sport trac gonna take mine apart today it's a contact issue for sure if I lightly push the cluster tach works again wonder if a small resistor in place of the bulb would work to trick the system
thanks for the very helpful video,im having a problem with my cluster ,ranger 2001 ,gas gauge and temperature gauge not working ,gas gauge was all the way up ,i tried tho bypass the slosh module and the gas gauge comes all the way down , now i dont know what should i replace ,please help ,what can i do to fix thoses gauges.
yes, as i understand it the 2000-2003 rangers had the same dash, wiring, hook ups and form factor. no modification will be needed, the 2002 should fit exactly as the factory 2000 one did. the signal for the tach is already there so that will work with no wiring modification. hope this helps.

So as long as I find the white back with the slosh model in it I should have no problem plug and playing?
I have a 2000 ranger.
How do the Gauge needles themselves come off and get replaced? Do they also just pop off the top

There’s a video on YT where a guy switches the resistor behind the temp gauge. Look for that.
I have a 2000 non white face & non tack , will a white face with tack from a 2002 ranger work ? & is there any mod I need

Or you could just buy a white back facing for a normal ford ranger cluster with the tach
