I know a compulsive liar who was in a genuine abusive relationship, but because she was a compulsive liar and toxic she exaggerated the facts to the point they conflicted, and everyone walked away thinking her ex was utterly innocent because of it. It’s also possible (but not necessarily in this case) for someone to be in an abusive situation, have no evidence of it, and so fabricate evidence to try and get justice. Just because someone lied about one thing doesn’t mean they lied about everything.
