Sophie...you are one of the most honest reviewer on RUclips and I can more readily relate to your club head speed versus all the Guys on RUclips swinging drivers at 108 to 120 mph and irons in the mid 90mph...Thanks for your hard work and honesty!
Thank you for your support John - yes we like to think that our reviews are a lot more relatable for the largest amount of golfers. It's not all about hitting it a million miles!
Sophie, excellent analysis, and I love the fact that you explain in detail what the data means in real on-course performance metrics (a/k/a real-world results)! I have been playing the Callaway Paradym irons for 7 weeks (20 rounds plus five 9-holers), and I am getting excellent performance from them. I suspect that my clubhead speed is about 3 to 5 MPH greater than yours, as I get just about the same distance from my Paradym 7-iron as you got with that Paradym 6-iron (my 6-iron goes about 167 yards and my 5-iron a bit more than 180 (185+ when I pure it). I get sufficient spin from the Paradym irons at my 84-86 MPH iron speed to keep the ball in the air and I also get a peak height of 115-120 feet from these irons. Overall, these Paradyms are just about perfect for my game.
Went in fully expecting to buy the P790, but preferred both the Paradym and T200 to the P790. Properly fitted, I’ve ordered the Paradym. Just felt explosive and accurate. Found them equally easy to shape. Slightly less spin on the Paradym, but with its descent angle it’s going to stop. I also got about 10 yards more with the Paradym (obviously due to the stronger loft, but will club down if necessary). The biggest difference for me was having the right shaft and length, though. Dynamic Gold 105, stiff, 1” long, 2 degrees upright, midsized grips. Whatever you get, get a fitting. You absolutely can’t tell what’s going to work for you by watching a review! I’d have been more than happy with the P790, but think I’ll personally enjoy using the Paradym more. (6 handicap)
Top line looks chunky and appears to have a lot of bounce. How would you compare to your Ping i525s? Sophie, also curious where you end your irons in your bag - 4,5 or 6? What loft hybrids do you use? Thx, Ric
My local pro fitted me with a Wilson D( driver and whow what a difference its made to my game so that and Sophies lessons things are looking good for 2023
Another great video from you Sophie...As others said most of us can relate to your LM numbers in real life! It really gives me an idea of what I'd get out them. In addition, your detailed comments in the beginning on all aspects of it the design were very good. Looking forward to seeing your other launch reviews!
Great honest review. I’m a P770 player and when I’m swinging well they’re insanely good. However that new P790 is something else. As you’ve shown here, likely still the hero product in hollow construction.
@@GolfalotTV I think they’ll be playing catch up in the hollow body space. Cobra and TM are ahead of the curve there and look to have sorted out the ‘hotspot’ problem with earlier iterations with the 2022/23 models.
The name reminds of a mystery novel I'd read on a stormy sunday night. There is no shelf appeal at all either. Not sure what they were thinking with this line up. But if you're a Callaway guy, go for it.
G’day Sophie. I’ve always enjoyed your videos. I use the Taylormade Stealth and really like them. My daughter has finally decided to take up golf. We have many great golf courses in Melbourne.
I thought the Paradigm looked like the TM Rocketballz irons at first glance! The blue doesn’t show clearly In the video. Great review and some great numbers with both clubs. I prefer the TM for sure but wouldn’t rule out giving these a try if I was to replace my AP2’s. Another great video 🙏
I really enjoy your reviews Sophie. I am a lot closer to your swing speed than the high swing speed players that produce so many of the reviews. I didn't catch whether the shafts were the same in the two clubs you tested?
Hi everyone and thanks for all the comments on this video, great to hear you're enjoying it. Please note that 'Nicegram User name👉@Golfalot1' is not us! I'm with you on the shelf appeal, whomever is in charge of this at Callaway needs to be reassigned. Epic, Rouge, Maverick and now Paradigm, not one of them looks good. It's a shame, I love my ugly epic driver now that I replaced the headcover. Call me Callaway, I can fix this issue.
Nice review Sophie. I wonder if you might test the new Sub 70 699 which is also a hollow body iron (also a slightly smaller "Pro" version.. Just out this January 2023. Sub 70 is a direct-to-consumer brand that makes excellent irons in a number of models from pure blades to maximum forgiveness.
Thanks Neil! We need all the support of our subscribers to make sure they spread our reviews around on social media and amongst golf clubs to help us grow.
Great review no doubt. Good golf begins with good grip and posture. But in my opinion if your swing is not good every brand is the same. No need to waste money. I’m using TM Stealth and very comfortable and happy with.
Thanks Sophie great review. Just brought the T400’s partly due to your review of them. Love the power , height and spin they give me. I agree looks bring the paradigm down a bit. My T400 looks traditional a bit chunky but similar to a Ping whatever some reviewers claim. The Paradigm look like the clubs that are produced for “ladies” . I Don’t like the distinction you hit your clubs faster than I do and why assume you would like a look different to me ? Maybe Calloway are saying coloured backs are unisex so let’s give them a go, and that’s fine but deep down i think we all aspire to clean looking metal clubs. If they perform well and I am sure they do then some will like the look but the TM looks will appeal to more players. I think the T200 , P790 look is more universally liked. Given last years models will now drop in price the cost of these new clubs is high, I think 2 year product cycles make more sense.
Excellent review. I use Cobra Flyer XL set...as a new golfer. I am happy with what I have right now. I did upgrade my driver to a new Cobra LTD X and love it. The new Paradym drivers look nice. Have you tried them yet?
Thanks for getting in touch with Golfalot! We will have a review of the Paradym driver out soon - subscribe to our channel to make sure you see it first.
A good thing with Callaway is that you can order the irons with up to 2 degrees weaker lofts across the set. In this test, may be a 1 deg weaker loft would have produced higher spin and longer carry distance to match the P790 ?
Unlikely. The P790 was producing 2.3 mph more ball speed the way it was. If you weaken the Paradym a degree you probably get more spin and launch, but you likely lose ball speed and most likely a couple of yards of carry.
They have made a Paradym X iron model which is more forgiving, you can see the full details via our website: www.golfalot.com/equipment-news/callaway-paradym-x-irons-5263.aspx
@@GolfalotTV thank you... I play some olf Cleveland HB3 (Hybrid irons) so I want to get vlose to the p790 / touge st pros. I hit my friends 2019 for a round and was very pleased with their performance. Seems like they are actouch hotter off the face than the st pros
It's not an attractive looking iron from the back. It does not look premium, to me anyway. I don't mind the chrome as I like the D9's, but yeah agree. Callaway will be left behind in terms of shelf appeal. Great video Sophie. Looking forward to all your reviews coming up. Have they booked you in on any warm golf courses yet?🤣👍
Great review Sophie but not keen on the name, looks or price. We still have plenty of new gear to come so will be interesting to see what is on offer. Alternatively have we now arrived at the situation where clubs can’t improve much more and all the colours have been used on the back of the club. Prices are also continuing to rise so will brands like cobra and Wilson gain popularity. Currently playing Titleist T300 love the looks, forgiveness, and looks.
I second all the comments below. Can relate to your numbers. Just watched a good player, but not a pro, hit the Paradym 7 iron with a swing speed of 87.5 , ball speeds of up to 126 and 128, and carries of 178 to 197. He got excellent height and spin with descent angles averaging 48. But I just can't relate to those numbers. It would be interesting to know what make and flex shaft you were using in these two, and was it the same in both? As for comparing, I much prefer the matte finish on the P790 and its overall look. Don't like the shiny chrome of the Paradym and the back with three different panels. Also, with shiny chrome the sun can reflect off the toe and heel on bright days and interfere with looking at the ball. And yes, in the economy we're in these days, cost is a problem.
Sophie. Placing these Callaway Paradym irons in the Players distance category up against the Mizuno 225 Pro and Wilson Staff D 9 forged, what would be your choice...Thanks...

They have had clubs with the name of Bertha for several decades. So 'feminine' isn't a new thing for Callaway. The name is ok, not great, not awesome. It sounds like something you would find on a mid range Hyundai but I don't care if they call the club the snail snot if it does well on the course. They have potential but not sure I'd dump my P790s for them. I really like the feel of those clubs. I'm not in the market for irons. I am interested in the driver and fairway woods though. Your ball speeds and carry are about the same so I probably would get the same if I tried the new Callaways. It is part of the reason I look at your reviews. I’d probably compare the Paradym X with the Stealth. The regular Paradym is way more like the P790.
I found the complete opposite when I tested both, Callaway felt and sounded superior too, just shows the importance of being fit properly

Callaway is blown out of the water! Why Callaways woods are so good but irons are so crapy, perhaps, maybe only Mavrics were on the par???
They like the irons from a cheap box set. Can’t see their thinking with this launch
Sadly the back of these irons merit a iron cover while in the bag.
It looks awful, why are manufacturers capping the backs. Either do a hollow club or open cavity. It looks like a child's club
Sensual?????
P790 is a far prettier
For me the Rogue pro looks better
Just another set of clubs. Most amateurs like me would benefit more from spending their money on lessons in my opinion.
I've never been a Callaway guy and don't particularly like the looks of these irons. I think I'll pass and stick with my Mizunos.
