BOOTS FOR SALE ON EBAY
thebootguy.com...
Bought the 8" i90 a week ago. I work commerical construction as a carpenter.
Opinion:
1) comfortable insole, makes working 12-15 hours per day an ease on the back and feet. But, toe needs to be a bit wider as toe blistering on big toe will happen for people with wide feet.
2) the leather is NOT thick. It needs to be reinforced with more leather or a stronger leather. second day in I slipped on some black dirt and the toe hit a rock and tore the toe. Not impressed, now I have to go out and buy tough toe, when in reality a tough toe should have been added for wear & tear protection. Not sure why he is promoting it as thick leather. I condition these boots every so often depending on work environment conditions. the leather is weak.
3) boot is not insulated and is not water proofed. It snowed a week into purchase. Very wet and cold outside as temps where -7 C in the Colorado low that hit us. Feet where drenched through my 12 hour shift, all I was doing was walking through snow building to building completing tasks. Short exposer to wet conditions = feet totally soaked.
4) treads on outsole are great, easy to clean off mud build up and hold up to being used as a tool sometimes.
5) laces need to be changed out, they don't hold a loop knot and always come undone. Maybe replace with a flat waxed lace?
6) the speed hooks are great. But the first hook at ankle level if tightened to comfort, will create a pinch point in which the only way to stop it is, to keep the lace in those hooks loose, and tight lace before and after the hook. Seems to work for me.
7) inside the boot, the lack of insulation inside creates a horrible ankle form in the leather where the seams are. Both side of the boot on both feet have that seem grind into the bottom of my ankle bone. Doesn't create blisters for me, but it creates pain no doubt, but feet get used to it by end of day. Might break in after a couple weeks who knows.
8) I probably will not re purchase these work boots again. Unless they address these changes. I love the look, but not going to sacrifice comfort again on next purchase.
This boot would be great for a factory worker, or someone not exposed to outdoor elements. Take it from a guy that's actually been in a harsh environment working all day, putting these boots to the test.
The guy in this video is definately being paid for this promo. Didn't even hit on the issues with the boot. Got the boots for free for plugging them. Good job bud misleading others for your own self gain. Asshole.
Well crap I wish I would have read your well written review of this boot before I bought them.
@@jamestingay1936 thanks for the feedback! If you have a receipt, I would recommend returning them and getting something a bit pricier. You can never spend to much on a good pair of boots. Your feet, hands, and eyes are the most important tools for work and need to be pampered with the best PPE.
@@jamestingay1936 also it's only been three months in since I bought the boot, and already I need to replace. The exterior sole is cracked all over, the leather has a hole right through it right before the little toe in the side of the boot. Absolute garbage product, but I guess that's what you pay for at 189.99 on sale for a low qaulity boot. Looks nice, but only in non practically environments. :P
@ Kris Zane the place my employer uses for boots will take them back up to 90 day. I also get a $120 boot voucher so I'm not out of pocket to much. I will keep all of the documentation for sure.
@@jamestingay1936 that's good, always shoot for the stores that carry those good warranty / return policies. I would have taken these ones back, but I ordered them online, and with all this covid stuff stores where closed for the 90 days, so I got lazy and paid the price. :P good luck with your future boot purchases.
Wolverine World Wide is a large footwear company. Their brands include Wolverine, Hush Puppies, Merrell, Caterpillar, Harley-Davidson, Saucony, Keds, Stride Rite, and Sperry Top-Sider.
I’ve went through two pairs of this and I have to say, from my experiences with this boot, this has got to be the lightest and most comfortable steel toed boot I have ever worn.
I have the Moc Toe version. They aren't likely to last as long as my redwings but they're well maid and extremely comfortable. For what they cost I think they're a really good option
You still like the I 90s? I was thinking about some thorogoods but they are pricier too.
@@aaronrodriguez1410 yes I still like them. I have a pair of Thorogoods as well. They are also really good but at current pricing I think they’re over priced
I purchased The I90, and The Rigger Boot at The same time. I have been wearing The Rigger for a few months now super comfortable, I’ll be starting to wear The I90 soon. Glad your back brother.
Just helping someone who has a doubt. I am normally size 8.5 but ordered extra wide, unfortunately 8.5 extrawide felt like 9. So i went half size down to 8 extrawide. They are great boots. Thanks for the video.
I love so much my I 90 wolverine durashocks I'm proud of having it one
Best design in a wolverine boot overall it contours your every move i will be getting another pair of this design!
I am currently wearing the I-90 soft toe version of the boot you are holding ..they run for me alittle big but that for me is a good surprise..
I LOVE THESE BOOTS..
I'm currently shopping for another pair but in a mocha toe that's a little wider.. I have huge paddle feet and I'm a 400 lb man with horrible back problems .. that's why I went with a flatter sole.
I wud love to get a wedge mocha toe with the machined eyelets and hold on the I-90.. I've had them for 3 months and I can barely see any wear on my rear corner of my right heel sofar.. I destroy shoes for my size and yet I love wearing these I-90 all day long in house and even outside working in the ditch cleaning it out from 3' of dirt sediment build up..
These are some damn comfortable boots, always had redwings. also recently got some Wolverine Raiders on 6” and 8” cause redwing doesn’t have any boots available cause of covid and damn they are comfortable since day one! For 125.00 less per boot
Love the vids, but why do you say one cannot resole it if it is a fully welted boot????
Great review 👍 I have tried on so many boots in the last few days. I have a sorta flat wide foot and let me tell you when I came across these I took a step into heaven. My foot didn’t like those narrow wolverines. But these not only look so awesome with that monkey boot style but they are a wedge and they are amazing all day 👍👍
I used to wear a cowboy boot style Wolverine Durashock at the San Diego airport for all day walking on the cement. I realized that old insert was gold and would swap it out in my Saucony runners.
Thank you Sir, I really like & appreciate your reviews! 👍
Hey Bootguy. Love your reviews man. Could you do a review on the wolverine journeyman boots? Glad to see new videos.
Just recently picked up a pair over the weekend. Found that immediately upon putting them on they fit well on the foot, stiff around the ankles at first. But it only took me a day of lightly wearing them before I had realized; that these were the best goddamn boots that I’ve ever bought on sale at Miller’s Surplus for $81.90 after tax.
Just finished my evening applying mink oil to them and boy howdy, these sumbitches took to the oil treatment like juicy dark fruit. They ripe. Oiled the laces too. Confident and ready to be new boot goofin’ in the Fab shop tomorrow morning!
Why did you oil the. And what is the process?
I’m a carpenter working 6 days 10 hours a day and have horrible foot pain will these help?
that sole looks like it will crack open in a year and provide wet feet. I hope that's not the case. Does it work well with a shovel?
I've had these boots for 2 years. Laces wear out after a week. Soles are now cracked and boot is coming apart at the front on the sew seam.
What boot do you think is better, the wolverine I90 8" model or the timberland pro 8" Gridworks boot? thanks
He never replies
I have this boot and it is very durable. However.....no matter what I do, the boots don't tie up super tight like a second skin in the ankle area. The boots get beat up everyday and are very durable but they feel a little too loose for my liking. I wear regular width.
I have a pair of these. Very very comfortable
I was trying to ask wolverine about the width measurements for their M vs W vs EW and they could only tell me there is a 1/4" difference between the widths. I was looking for M7 but any size width will be good information- Do you have the width for any of the wolverine shoes you've pulled apart?
91/2 EW 8” , got the right size shoe but the height where the eyelets are gets wobbly, broke them in without the insole and now trying to find the right insole without scrunching my toes at the toe box is a bit of a pain , theyre nice to look at but they got to do something with the toe box, or at least post on their website what the actual inside parameters of the shoe are, something that I have noticed nobody really does
Can you review the Keen San Jose?
i ve been wearing the san jose for 6 months. the leather is not durable at all. the stitching is ripping at the toe. but it is very light weight and very comfortable. it is not a hot boot and it is breathable with plenty of room in the toe.
I’ve had pretty much the same experience. I’ve got the uninsulated safety toe model. Very comfy boot but u will be buying them every 6 months or so. Seeing as I end up burning thru most any boot in a year it doesn’t seem that terrible.
I want to get the i90 moc toe version but for some reason the website says the moc toe version is waterproof. Even though I don’t see any “waterproof” badging on the boot. Could this information be incorrect. I want a boot that is more on the breathable side.
These run small!!!! I bought a 9 because the last 3 pairs of Wolverine I've worn are 9 but my foot barely fit inside. Now I don't know if I should go 9.5 or 10?
I work concrete construction. This brand is the best for construction workers.
Are those made with Horween leather? They look likes nice comfortable work boot for light duty work.
Thanks great review getting a pair 👍🏾
Well I bought a pair....didn’t realize the way were made in Bangladesh. Kind of pricey for that. We’ll see how I like them. I don’t think there’re going to be as long lived as I hoped. Apparently they’ve discontinued this shoe? At least accounting to the place I bought them at (work boot warehouse in L.A....I like to try them on and give a place business at least for the first pair).
Don’t look like to bad of boot but I think I’ll stick with my two boots the redwings and dancer boots thanks for a good honest review which I know you always do
Saw a review where those heavy machined speed hooks ripped out after an hour of light use
what about the duck boot from wolverine
Thank you! I usually always have to use a sneaker boot crossover. I have screws on my ankle and I need that soft shock absorber for walking around all day on a ruff construction site. This boots sound good! Do you or anyone recommend a good insole ??
Was just debating if I should get a pair of the i90s I’m probably going put the order in
Will these pretty much be the same/similar to the Moc Toe version of these boots?
I got my first pair last week
O man that feels good !
Hush Puppies..
WoW, that's Old School, ..
But it Makes Sense that Wolverine would take Over.
I own maybe 8 brands of boots, never found a Wolverine product I liked besides 1000 mile which I chose not to buy. As far as Durashocks I feel like many companies use the name for springs, basketball shoes, I think dynaforce is basically redwings equivalent of what is essentially nothing but a "buzz" word.
Any chance on doing a review on the Chippewa model 20091 cibola
Great review! I am going to get myself a pair of these. :}
Does Wolverine own Bates boots now? My favorite service boots from my time we’re the Bates E50501 with the durashock soles. Very similar to the Wolverines.
Ya wolverine owns bates. They have a pretty impressive portfollio of brands they own and manufacture
Boot guy can you give some recommendations for us with 4e width work boots. That the lower base is actually a true 4 not just the upper.
I would look into Redwings 2412 or 2414 work boots they are also made in 🇺🇸. As far as the sizes I’m pretty sure they go from a size 6 to a size 15 and for the widths they range from B / EEE and then I think H is above the EEE, but I would call a Redwings Store and ask them. 👍🏼
I used these 6 days a week years ago for landscaping and light construction, and I wanted to like these, but the fit was kinda wierd. The standard size feels like a wide. That "super heavy duty" speed hook is absolute trash and pulled out within three months. Also, those eyelets shred the laces and are very difficult to get tight. I never had a lace to toe that i struggled to get a decent fit from. For the same price, I'm going with Direct Attatch timberlands, more attractive, water resistant, and the upper/hardware is simpler and longer lasting..
I used the 30 day comfort guarantee. I had the i-90 epx and the heel counter destroyed my feet. They refunded my money even though I bought them from a third party seller.
Yo! BOOTGUY ISAAC i have a BOOT request for you buddy it's the KEEN KARRAIG BOOTS ,keen is branding this as their most technical boot and a backpacking boot. You know keen is an all American brand but these boots are made in Europe for the conditions of England,Looking forward for the review.
Thank you.
Please put size and width first, saves time, don’t have to wait till end.
I SAW A HARLEY BOOT MADE BY WOLVERINE. I DON'T NEED THE HARLEY NAME JUST WANT THIS TYPE OF BOOT: 10 IN HEIGHT WITH LACE UP AND ZIPPER BLACK WITH GRIPPING SOUL. CAN'T FIND ON COMPANY SITE
Good video
Made in the USA?
Some one knows if this boot can be resole
What happens when the shocks wear down to the wedge? It's like to many bumper stickers on a car, to much. It won't work and it won't sell.
I can tell you that between 2008 and 2011 all the guys where I work we're disappointed in their durashocks and basically said never again. a lot of their soles actually broke in half. They were once thought to be good quality and quickly became considered garbage. As for me I consider them to be the second most uncomfortable boot I ever purchased.
Cool soles.
Some one knows if this boots can be resole?
@@josechaj8353 I'd have to rewatch the vid, but I would guess they can be. They look welted as usual.
This is a nice show boot just wear them out on the town or out on a date.. Just casual wear as far as working in them its a no.... To me if a boot is not water proof or water resistant then its just not a work 👢 boot
Why cant you buy half sizes in work boots in the UK??
Very annoying
These are good reviews. But let’s be honest without long days wearing the boot what good are the reviews
Good boot but not as good as my RedWing 2414s
best boots made aside from the customs
could argue the danner quarrys are better for shoveling because of the stitch pattern but still you get my point
Great boot are fantastic if you have
Size 14 and under
Otherwise you get
Screwed !
Cheap garbage. Lasted 7 months doing light construction. Toe destroyed and the heel stitching ripped right off
We are on the same page
If your feet are way too important to be uncomfortable, why would you buy this crap in the first place? You really have no business recommending anything to anyone.
They look good but it's not a boot that i would ever buy. It's definitely not a winter boot. It looks like it has some grip on the bottom but in fact in the winter months it would not be a good boot for me. I'm not saying it wouldn't be a good boot for everyone but definitely not a boot for me. Also the shack absorption that you talk about if you have to bend a lot and get down on your knees, I guarantee you that black plastic is going to eventually peel away from the soul and those types of boots that have this on them are never a good buy in my personal and humble opinion.
