    This pair of Thorogood Moc Toe boots was brought in for repair. These boots were in rough shape and definitely needed some love. After thoroughly cleaning these boots, reconditioning them and adding new leather welts and Vibram Chisty wedge soles, these boots are good to go. Time for another restoration!

    I had hopes of getting you guys to do my Thorogoods but when it was time you were super busy ( which is a good thing) and not taking anymore orders at the time. I ended up going through Thorogoods restoration program which was actually done by a company called NuShoe. I opted for a complete restoration with a leather welt. They did a good job as far as I can tell but I feel like I lost a shoe size on the top of my foot. They were some kinda tight for a while and eventually loosened up. Always enjoy watching you guys.

    I work as a trucker for a food bank and have a pair of Irish setter moc toes (not redwings) that I’ve worn for about 4,000 miles over the past 2 years. I’ve worn through the sole, the midsole is toast, the (synthetic) welt is cracked, and the insole material is wore out. I know they’re cheap boots, but I love the uppers. It would be a dream to have them rebuilt like this. Probably would too expensive though.

    I love these videos and your skills! However, I always wonder what these restorations cost. I have to think that it would cost someone less to buy a brand new pair of Thorogoods than it would be to do this restoration (the cost of your labor along with the cost of a new sole, new welt, new leather midsole, new laces, and the upper treatment).

    • @jimmylarge1148
      @jimmylarge1148 10 месяцев назад

      It would be close. I looked into redoing a pair of mine for the future and it can go anywhere from 100-200$ depending on what all u have done. Averaging prolly around 150$. New ones are now like 270$. For me I would do it just for sentimental reasons. Just to say “I’ve been warring these boots for over 20 years now 😂 btw the uppers on thorogoods are as good any any other brand so when u do get all this done they are every bit as good as red wing or others.

    I've watched a bunch of y'all's videos, but I just thought of a question for the first time.
    What happens, from the business standpoint, if you ruin/destroy a customer's shoes? You could be tearing off the old welt, when suddenly, the upper rips in half. What happens then?

    7:33, Anxious (a negative word, think anxiety, fear, dread, and the like) comes from the Latin word Angere (their spelling). Its meaning was "to choke and strangle", nothing to look forward to. My guess, you are eagerly (a positive) looking forward to tasting your whisky.

My local cobbler can certainly resole them well enough. But, would be has been reluctant to re-welt shoes or to do lining repairs. So the question arises.....restoration or replacement? Cost isn't the only consideration, but is a consideration.

    Hi Trenton and Heath!! Great job! I am curious as to how much a resole costs that DOES include a new leather welt for a pair of thorogood steel toe work boots? (I’d like the Thorogood brand wedge sole replacements if available) Also does the price differ if the boots are lace up / slip on? I ask because I have two pair that I would love to have resoled. One pair is a discontinued slip on wellington style boot with a solid lug type outsole. The other pair is an 8” lace up moc toe with the max wear 90 defined heel type outsole . It would be awesome to have both welts replaced with new leather welts and the thorogood brand white wedge soles on both pair. I’d settle for the vibram christy soles if need be, though I do prefer the thorogood brand ones. Also , I have some Double H square toe , steel toe cowboy style work boots with a very irritating squeak in the left heel. Would you guys be considerate of reworking them and giving them away to someone who NEEDS them if I were to donate them to you guys ? All I ask is that you film it for one of your videos (so I may watch it 😋) and film yourselves giving them to the special person who gets them. This way I can watch the video and see the face of the person who gets them. If this interests you , contact me please. I’d love to help in any way bc I know someone out there needs a nice quality set of boots and would be very happy to receive them.Thanks guys I love your work and admire your skill. Merry Christmas 🎄!!!

    I can't imagine the smell you guys must deal with sometimes when washing out those nasty boots. Respect.

    I used to buy Danner boots... mine didn't last long! 3 to 5 months...If I was lucky! I bought thorogood moc toes have worn tthe boots to the ground!!!!! about 7 months + and I am ready for a new pair. I think the Thorogood are a decent value at $250 and better than Danner.
