I have worked for several different boot companies over the years, including Thorogood (only as a salesman, not building them). You are a true artist and craftsman. My most sincere compliments on your excellent repair job.
You and me both. I have redwing Moc toes that I work in occasionally, but my go to is Thorogood. Red wings take so long to break in I can’t go thru that process and work at the same time lol. Took mine forever forcing myself to wear them at least 4 hours a day just to break them in!! I wear my redwings as my casual boot when I’m not working. Had mine for about 3 years now I guess and they’re still going strong. Super comfortable once broken in and you get that good imprint of your foot in the leather sole.
I decided to quit buying junk boots and ordered a pair for $300. At that price, you bet I’m never throwing them away. I’ll be taking good care of them with monthly cleaning and waxing. When the time comes I need a new sole, I’ll buy a second pair and send in the first to get rebuilt. Then with 2 pairs I’ll switch between them back and forth. Hopefully I’ll never have to buy another pair of boots for the next 30 years of my career.
@@markm0000just keep in mind the way the Thorogood welt is constructed, it’ll cost a bit more to re sole than a redwing or something with that style welt. Still worth doing IMO because a broken in Thorogood is hard to beat.
I've found that THorogoods have too thin a tongue -- tight lacing can be painful. PLaced a false tongue (from Whites) on my refurbished Thorogoods and it was like MAGIC. The boots are now like slippers... I can't believe how much a difference that made. Good job as always. Call these boots Lazarus because they are back from the dead!
They look great! Perfect job. I like the new welt, cushion and midsole. If the owner of the boots would take a few minutes every couple months to put some leather conditioner on them they would stay looking pretty good and not dry out. But some people just won't do it. It's like they hate their leather or something.
*Most likely they are lazy and don't want to bother cleaning their boots lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣! And then they wonder why their boots don't last as long. It's due to ignorance and they can't be bothered to ever maintain their boots.*
Great job Aaron, those Thorogood's looked like they had it. I don't know why people don't clean and condition their boots at least once every four months, it would have been in much better shape with just a little effort. I really like that you put on a leather midsole and a cork filler, those boots must feel like new without having to break them in all over again.
Dude you’re a magician. Do you offer services for other people? I’d be more than willing to pay you to re sole my Thorogoods! Well…..the end of the video answered that question! Awesome work!
Great job. I have two pair of Thorogood boots with wedge sole. Planning on having vibram 1276 glued to soles. I live in Ohio so have local shoe repair do them. To bad customer did not take care of uppers; wow…maybe after this…
Saludos desde McAllen Texas y quedaron bien perronas felicitaciones por tener esta agilidad, abilidad por que este tipo de trabajo se está perdiendo ya no ahí muchos como tú que tienen la paciencia de hacerlo.
Just watched, you rebuilt these boots better then when they came from the factory. You did such a fantastic job. Absolutely artwork my friend. I hope nothing but happiness and prosperity in your future. I am now subscribed
Wow!! I thought at first that leather would be too dry to refurbish..I was sure it would be cracked or split along the toe box especially. Beautiful job. Also, I heard your shorties in the background, lol. 😂👍
At 02:16 I bought a pair yesterday for $5.00 & threw them in the wife's front-loading washing machine - while she was gone, of course. Loud commotion, but the metal spin drum wasn't dented & the boots came out clean. Yes, you wash out Thorogood's tanning oils, but I make a conditioning treatment of coconut oil (which doesn't oxidize or go rancid as fast as mink or neatsfoot oil), almond oil, tea tree oil (anti-bacterial) shea cream, glycerin (like Kiwi & Feibing's saddle soap, but excess use of humectants attract moisture & traps sticky dirt), lanolin (like Fiebing's, Lexol), & beeswax. It's great, but easier to just get a reputable brand researched by Ph.D chemists.
Cuando se le cambia la suela se pierde espacio en la bota? Tengo unas thorogood que se estan despegando lo Blanco. Approx cual es el costo de una reparacion para esas botas?
He's going to walk like a fresh born foal with those brand new soles..., If he doesn't like them you can send them to me..😉 Another awesome transformation...
Maybe just some conditioner on the original welt would have worked lol. These boots were super dry and you managed to give them a fresh new life with another million miles to go. 👍
welt look fine to me idk lol looked great i seen the long toe was like opps ,,then at the end you fixed it looks great man would that boot been dyed black would been better ? you think
Still regret using mink oil on all my boots. Darkens them so much. Right now I'm using redwing leather cream. Can you recommend anything that doesn't darken leather but adds some water resistance? Maybe my stuff does it but who knows lol. Thanks!
What does a job like this cost? I’m local, in Santa Clarita. I’ll definitely use your services when my boots wear out. I have thorougoods, nicks, JK. I’m excited to have found this channel
You are an amazing craftsman. Subscribed. One question, what were you using on the uppers to clean them, it looks like spray on saddle soap and there was something else that I couldn't quite understand.
Thanks! It was saddle soap/glycerin. I use a bit of leather dye, mink oil and leather conditioner, but I rarely use leather dye, saddle soap and leather conditioner should be enough 99% of the time. Cheers
Looks great! I have the 6' moc toe thorogood that needs to be re-soled and conditioned. I would like a vibram sole and a leather midsole. I'm located in Des Moines, WA in USA. Am I able to send to you for this service? If your best way of communicating is email I will send you all my info. You're quality of workmanship is superb!

Great work .. it's good to see a worn pair of Thorogoods being restored. I have several pairs of Redwings but Thorogoods are my go to work boot.
Thanks,
I totally agree with you
Option number 1

So nice to see a skilled old school tradesman. Not many of you around anymore.
“Should I keep the welt? I might.. “ hahaha gold!
I was tempted to do it!!!
😅
Man. Wish I didn’t throw my old thorogoods away. You are a magician! Well done.

You’re getting incredibly busy & that’s awesome. Like always they’ve turned out fantastic.
Thanks David!
Love it! Nothing better than to see transformation from trashed to restored. Beautiful work, Brother!
Thanks my Man, they came out really nice!!! 👌
Love seeing all this work come your way my friend.
My man!! Thank you very much!!!✋🏻✋🏻
I busted out laughing when you asked about the welt. Thanks for the laugh
😅😅 by the way I didn’t use it 😂😂😂✋🏻👊
Defintely back to life! Great job.

😅 thanks,
Fake tongues help a lot!!
Dude, you’re a badass. Great work.
Makes me happy to see! You couldn't buy a new boot with that kind of character!
✋🏻👊😬
Beautiful work!those boots are better now then when they were new.
🙏🙏
Excellent quality work. I will probably stop throwing away my old boots and get them resoled.
Sending a love all the way from 🇵🇭 for your beautiful work. Love watching you video sir especially for the attention to detail.
Thanks a lot for supporting the channel!!🙏
This 8” moc toe is still my favorite all time work boot. I just finished off a pair that was around 8 yes old and had been resoled 2-4 times.
They really last long!!✋🏻
Great work!!
I like how the patina of the upper contrasts with the new parts. I think they turned out great.

Beautiful work! You’ve made me a believer that brown edged midsoles are better than natural midsoles! Lol
Amazing transformation, as always, Aaron! And caught the Revive Shoe Repair custom leather bracelet ... that's cool.

Stepping in mud, water and likely horse shit... all that will definitely damage the midsole finish. Great content Aaron!

I can't seem to get any kind of patina on my boots with the kind of work I do. What can I apply to my boots to create a patina?
Great work, I have the same pair of boots. Around how much does this repair cost?
You did an amazing job!
Saludos.

He's going to walk like a fresh born foal with those brand new soles..., If he doesn't like them you can send them to me..😉 Another awesome transformation...
I just sent him pictures and I liked them 😅😅
Thanks!!🙏
When did you added the metal shank? I didn’t see it.
😲👏🏻👌🏻 Great revival❗
El cliente va a estar contento con ese resultado 👍
Vamos a esperar el veredicto final, cuando las reciba!! Ya van en Camino!
Excelente trabajo y que resultado. Que maestría. Un saludo desde Italia.
Saludos y muchas gracias!!!🙏
Do you work on stich down boots? I have a pair of Nick's I am going to need work on.
Hey! Have you ever considered keeping on a synthetic welt?
Maybe just some conditioner on the original welt would have worked lol. These boots were super dry and you managed to give them a fresh new life with another million miles to go. 👍
✋🏻😅👊
You did a very good job buddy, it must’ve took a long time to get that good
Thanks!!
What do you normally charge for this exact service on a Thorogood pair just like this?
What did you mix the saddlesoap with?
What would be the cost cost? I hate throwing away my old thorogoods.
Amazing work, I just bought a brand new pair of these, subbed from me
Master of the razor knife, an unsung skill.
Was the old welt plastic? I’m always a fan of your new welts. Another magical transformation of old to almost new! Great work.
Thanks Cal, it was actually rubber but with time it hardens and cracks all around!
Thorogoods have a synthetic welt, it's one of the "downsides" of this boot, if you consider it having any downsides at all.
welt look fine to me idk lol looked great i seen the long toe was like opps ,,then at the end you fixed it looks great man would that boot been dyed black would been better ? you think

Oil leather can’t be dyed different color!🤷🏻♂️

Cadillac leather conditioner or bick 4
