      Not advised. The length of your heels are calculated almost exactly. Cutting more than 1/4” exponentially kicks the front of the shoe up making it unstable to wear.

      I stopped watching Trenton and Heath when they shamed a customer for coming in with shoes with a hole in the sole. They really laid it on thick, basically saying they couldn't believe it and making the guy look like some kind of degenerate. I can't imagine how mortifying it must have been for the customer to watch that episode. He must have been so excited to see his shoes being repaired and instead he was thoroughly shamed.
      If they can talk about customers like that with the camera on, Lord knows what they say when it's off. They are arrogant and snobbish and success has gone to their heads. I will never watch another episode of theirs again.

    True story: I'm a Glazier by trade, in Florida and back in 1999, I was working on a high rise and we had stored the crates of glass and frames in the basement,. Well, it stormed one weekend and flooded the basement, so to get to our stuff, we had to wade into water. I had cheap wal mart boots and my feet got wet to the point of injury. Right after work, I went to a Red Wings store and the clerk took one look at me and had me sit down. He took my soaking wet, ruint boots and socks off my feet. He took a towel and dried them off, then sprinkled them with powder and put the best, thick socks I'd ever had on my feet. then he had me step into the machine that sourrounds your foot and measures them. He went to the back and came back with a pair of mocs, like those and put them on me. They were the most comfortable boots I'd ever worn. I told him, Listen, you ain't getting these boots back and I'm walking out in them." I walked out with those boots and have worn Red Wings ever since. Now, since then , I've worked all over the Country, From Florida to Atlanta and to New Orleans afetr Katrina and out to Las Vegas and up the Kansas City and no matter where I went, I could walk into any Red Wing store and they'd clean them, rub them down with conditioner and oil and even put new strings on , FOR FREE. Now, they'd resole them (I had to pay for that), but they do a great job and even gave me a pair of loaners until they got mine done. Red Wing is an investment, not just in money but they're like a family. I knew that no matter where I was, I could walk into a Red Wings store and be treated like family. I could relax and be taken care of, on the spot. A great company the makes great boots.

    • @lukuscarter3563
      @lukuscarter3563 2 года назад +14

      I believe that story. I was treated very kindly when I went into Redwing store a couple weeks ago for the very first time. I would like to see them continue being such a down to earth shoe company. A not cheap out like so many other shoe companies have.
      Quality over quantity is always better.
      I appreciate you sharing your experience. It may sound strange, but I could literally picture the inside of Redwing Store (brown,red colors with a leathery smell) as I was reading your story.

      Same story here with mine: great customer service, amazing boots. I've had em for... God, 6 years now? I've hiked, hunted, waded, climbed and gone to a nice dinner all in one pair of boots.

    Man,I’ll never complain about how much it costs to have boots repaired! That’s a lot of work these guys put into fixing these Red Wings! When I worked for American Airlines I had a pair of Redwings just like these except they used a black sole material. It was really comfortable but the concrete on the ramp was like a wood rasp and the soles lasted maybe 6 months at the most. This was in the late 80’s,early 90’s. I wish I hadn’t thrown them away now. I would have had these guys repair them.

    Found this 2 year old video and had to watch after the Westco boots resole. Its ones like this that inspired me to go ahead and give my almost 20 year old Redwing 606 boots a complete makeover. I had some cracking due to a lapse in conditioning and some color fade as well as rub marks on the toes. They got new soles and insects about 5 years ago so they're worth it. All in all they came out great by following your step by step recommendations. It also helped that the boots were burgundy as the color blend came out great. Thanks again for your videos gents

The boots in this video were NOTHING compared to some of the junk that were returned to our store...for which we had to reimburse, of course (if we could find the shoes/boots in our catalogs that is). Unfortunately, I don’t think most people know anything about boots and shoes. Many of the folks that watch our channel do, but most out there don’t. Many think they can send in any pair of boots for a simple resole, not realizing that the shape of the boots can play a big part. These were obviously shot. Ordinarily, we would have recommended he throw them away; however, in this case, we did most of this for y’all’s entertainment. He also has a pair he can wear again...for the price of a simple resole. 😉

      Personally, if it can be resoled, it should be resoled. Reducing waste is important. Plus, a lot of resoles and restorations are a way of not only keeping the shoe alive, but a lot of the memories attached to those shoes. Many people cherish the items that get them through the tough times. Some people will pay anything to keep those item intact.

    Always great to watch craftsmen at the top of their game and always learning . You all have a good appreciation for the tools of your trade one of the best shop layout’s I have ever seen for your trade. You guys are young and have lot of great years ahead of you.. The reason I say this is that you have a long time to enjoy having the cool tools in your shop. I have just 2 suggestions a Snap-On roll away and a Gerstner tool box both have many models to choose from..Both are expensive and extravagant for some others there a necessity but in the long run you will never regret having them. The tools you place in them and take out of them become of greater importance. Plus they look great in your shop. I don’t know maybe you already have them. Enough rambling enjoy your day.✌️😎

I remember as a kid, and I’m only 30, in Mexico before all the American big stores came in a huge portion of people got their shoes from cobblers or got them fixed by cobblers. Now everyone just runs to Costco, Walmart and for the rich , LV, Gucci etc for new shoes. Filling out dumps with TONS of reusable shoes.
