  • In Todays video we will see How far does €80 go in Malta. For todays challenge we are going to literally see if €80 between the both of us will do for the whole day on your holiday. We are staying in a self catering apartment. This video will show you if you can still enjoy yourself if you on a strict budget on holiday.
    When me and Ellie first came to this island together back in 2011 this budget would of been a dream to us and we couldn't even afford a sun lounger on the beach! We even had to prioritise food or Kinne 🫠.
    The original challenge would of been €100 but we thought thats far too easy! you'll see in this video how we get on.

      Haha we done it but it did kill james because it meant he couldn’t have 10 ice creams in a day 🤣 haha jokes but we would have gone over if he had another ice cream 🤣
      Haha thankfully jellie didn’t get stung by the jelly’s 🤣

    Good going on the €80 challenge 🎉 the sunset and views are stunning 🤩 I wouldn’t have lasted as long as you guys with all of them jellyfish 🪼 rolling around 😮😮😮 Look forward to the next one ❤

      Thank you Kezza ☺️ the bloody jellyfish were a pain in the backside it’s a shame there were so many otherwise we could have swam more!

    Love the idea of a challenge video! Wouldn’t be a day in Malta without Kinnie! Haha the sea really is a beautiful colour 🤩 I’d be a little scared of the jellyfish but at least it’s clear water! Have you ever been stung?
    Ooh that wrap looks good! I’m super hungry right now haha perfect being able to enjoy it on the beach! Such a pretty sunset 😍
    So close to 80 euro and I agree with your technicality haha great video we enjoyed watching! Hope you’re both well 💙✨

      Haha definitely couldn’t go a day let alone an hour without Kinnie 🤣
      The jellyfish are pains in the backsides. James has never been stung but I’ve been stung before a few times which is really not nice 🪼 😳
      The wraps were good but so expensive for what it was, we usually get our lunch in the village which is 10 times better 😋 but yes we loved eating our lunch on the beach on our sunbeds!
      Haha we basically done it I’d say ☺️
      Thank you for watching guys glad you enjoyed it 🥰 we are both good thank you major holiday blues. I hope you are both well 🥰

    Last time I visited Malta was 2019. I was very disappointed when I tasted Kinnie, as it tasted nothing like the Kinnie of my childhood. The label used to say that it was made from aromatic herbs, and used to taste much like the Italian version of Chinnoto. Yep, Chinotto has a much better taste.

    • @JamesandElliesAdventures
      @JamesandElliesAdventures  10 месяцев назад

      Ohh really. Like many drinks now they take a lot of the sugar out so maybe that has something to do with it?! We have some Kinnie at home and I checked the label and it still says it’s made with aromatic herbs on the label.
      Ohh not been to Italy yet and not heard of Chinnoto but would definitely like to try that one day.

    Would have made more sense to go to Wellbees or even Maypole for your shopping. You were right in the area too. Would have been a tad cheaper.

      Ohhh we have been going to Malta for a long time and can’t say I have heard of those, where abouts are they please?

    • @Jacks-Half-Mustache
      @Jacks-Half-Mustache 4 месяца назад

      So based from where you bought your pastizz, you’d have to go up the road and keep walking for a bit and then you’d find them next to each other. Wellbees is a big supermarket, Maypole is much smaller but at least you have a bit of choice 😊 There’s also a Convenience shop on the way too (and another one down the road from where you bought breakfast). I’m not sure which is cheaper but they are usually much cheaper than from the small markets like the Luna you visited 😁

      @JamesandElliesAdventures  4 месяца назад +1

      @Jacks-Half-Mustache yes I know exactly where you mean. Thanks so much for the advice we will definitely head to those supermarkets when we next visit, thank you :)

    Could have been September when you shot this video? Reason I ask, is because the jelly fish normally appears around that time of year. I grew up in Malta, but live in Auz.

      We went to Malta early June and this is when this was filmed. Yes we have been in September before and had a lot of jellies but the weather was strange in June this year :/

    Great video, guys :) ! What date and time was the scene at the beach filmed, I think you said something like 11am? was it in July? The Ghadira beach looks still kinda empty for this time, which is a bit surprising. How is it when you go around 9 or 10am there?
    I will also visit Mellieha in the end of September, thats why I am asking. Also how is it with the Jellyfish around that time? Keep up the good work!

    • @JamesandElliesAdventures
      @JamesandElliesAdventures  Год назад +1

      Thank you :) we went at the beginning of June for 1 week. We got to the beach at around 8am and it was quiet until around 10ish. Week days are quieter than weekends, especially Sundays. We usually go to Malta in July and it’s much busier.
      We have been in September once before and it was similar crowds to June so it shouldn’t be too busy when you visit.
      This is the first time we have been and the jellyfish have been bad. July and September never had a problem with the jellies. Have a great time 👍🏼 and thank you for watching :)

    Me and my wife have been to Malta few times more than you. We can survive in Malta for €40 a day. Local coffee shops are cheaper and better than Starbucks. Yes we visit and do lots on the island every day. We have a friend in Mellieha and stay in his villa in Santa Maria Estate.

    • @JamesandElliesAdventures
      @JamesandElliesAdventures  Год назад +2

      Yes we could definitely survive on approx €40 a day if we didn’t get our lunch from the beach and we didn’t have the Starbucks but it was a public holiday on the island so a lot of the places in the village were shut unfortunately.
      Love the Santa Maria estate we rented a villa there once it was lovely 🥰

      Thanks so much for watching 😎

    the cover photo really doesn't do Malta justice. Buying from a mini market will definitely cost you more compared to a large supermarket like Lidl or so. Starbucks and Costa are overpriced with Malta. I normal coffee show would be much cheaper too. The kiosks at the beaches charge a ridiculous amount too. I would void these places if on a budget. Supermarkets sell good sandwiches for a lot less.

    • @JamesandElliesAdventures
      @JamesandElliesAdventures  2 месяца назад

      The reason we chose this photo for the thumbnail for the photo was because champ in Mellieha holds a lot of memories for us :)
      I have been coming to Malta since I was a baby but this time round the day we decided to film this it was a public holiday so some places were shut so we’re limited with places that were open. My go to sandwich is a tuna ftira but the place we usually get it from in the village was shit otherwise that would have kept the cost down too :)
