@@zweispurmopped That cracked me up, i once went into a sheep shelter alone to sleep on top of hay bales behind a hay bale wall, dead silence, weather went bad, i woke up with 40 sheep the other side of the hay bales. Dear Claire, Rarely can anyone say that they have kept their New Year's resolution. I did 😃 A year ago I started following your channel. I am no longer the youngest and a bit sick but I still wanted to wander, like you, in the wilderness, with a backpack and a tent. You inspired me with your videos, I made a New Year's resolution and I started fulfilling it in the spring. In the Bieszczady Mountains a bear did not eat me :), on the Pilica River the bacteria did not kill me (I’m still alive), in the Land of the Great Masurian Lakes I did not sink in a peat bog and in Roztocze I experienced a real apocalypse - a hailstorm 😁 I saw how a powerful wind farm works in the mountains (I stood directly under the windmill). I spent the night in the most beautiful clearing in the mountains, in the canyon of a mountain river, on lowland rivers and on wild lake beaches. I saw how the river evaporates after a hailstorm and how the fog rises over the morning lake. I cooled down under waterfalls and on the rivers thersholds. I saw abandoned Lemko villages and (still active today) Orthodox churches. I moved floating, peat islands and ate apples straight from wild apple trees. I walked through a field that had neither beginning nor end, among gentle hills. I saw a deer that was taller than me and at night some small animal visited my tent, sniffed my supplies and ran away hearing the rustle when I moved in my sleeping bag. I was seeking for my twin brother somewhere on the Milky Way and saw stars so bright that their glow hurt my eyes. It was all because of your inspiration. You enriched and changed my life, for which I thank you very much. I'm not lying - as proof I made a few videos of my hikes. Hello friend, I'm so glad you're getting reacquainted with the wild places, your adventures sound beautiful and life affirming 💚 I can't really put into words the good things that wandering and sleeping wild has done for me, I hope you will reap the benefits for a long time to come :) thanks for sharing your trips too, it looks really gorgeous there
You are such a joy to watch. You're an adventurous and brave woman. You brighten my day when I get to travel the country side with you. Glad you had a good time and you were safe. Take care and stay safe.
Hi Claire, have seen those man made gullies before around old mining areas, the grooves you could sea in the rock is where it was drilled and explosive charges were push down to blast out the rock. Probably was used as a more direct easier passage for mining area access. Enjoy watching the interesting places you end up camping in. Please keep them coming😁😁
Ahh that's so interesting, thank you! My son and I went on a guided tour of the underground mines in Blaenau Ffestiniog and they were telling us about how they drilled the holes for the explosives, and how dangerous it was. I didn't realise those were the same holes. You can see the streaks of copper in the rock too, love these places!
That was a great camp! Love the night sky views. At first I thought, that tarp is going to fly away. But you did a good job staking it down. Another great camp for you!
I admire your bodacious character. You are willing to challenge nature’s tooth and claw with humor and dashing ingenuity. Thanks for showing what can get done with dedicated effort to succeed. Wishing you peace and good fortune. Happy Trails!
I always look forward to your videos and your naughty chuckle when you were talking about it being 8° in your crack made me laugh too.🤭 I know I'm such a child! Thank you for sharing your adventures as always. 🥰
I love your positive attitude even when the weather is awful. Those grooves in the rock face are drill marks and the miners would put sticks of explosives down the holes and blow the rock out leaving half the groove in the rock face. Love and be safe... keep them coming.
Very interesting :D thank you for sharing, I do love looking about the mines and imagining the history there. I could see some copper in the rocks that they would have been going after :)
Absolutely cracked up watching this one, Claire! Only you could make stealth camping in a literal crack in the rocks look so epic! 😂 You really know how to work with... nature's 'crevices.' The whole time I was thinking, 'Only Claire could fit herself and all her gear into such a tiny, rocky pocket and still make it cozy!' Love the mining history and intrigue. Many of the trails here in the Blue Mtns National park and the Wollemi are as a result of shale mines or timber cutting. Theres a lot of shafts that run very deep into the sandstone cliffs. Years ago there were remnents of light rail and boilers too. Its utterly great to camp amongst it

Looks like a rock fissure
I reckon it's a natural fissure. There don't appear to be any axe or chisel marks so I don't think it's artificial.
When I typed that I hadn't seen the drill holes so it's obviously an attempt at quarrying.
I'm only two minutes in but it doesn't look like a cozy little nook, to me at least...Seems like it worked out quire cozy after all...
Hopefully not the portal to hell .
